Gun Sounds Are Horrible...

Honestly, is it because GTA is developed outside the US and they can't get a legitimate, controlled recording of each gun's real life counterpart?

I honestly think they coud since it just requires to record in the usa or even closer(there are semi automatic versions of most assault rifles and you generaly can also find machine guns that are converted to only fire semi automatic)

Not even mentioning the possebility audiofiles are probably on the internet of quite some firearms in some audio database

That being said...the gun sounds being sh*tty doesnt realy bother me much

I don't know I think the MG and Combat MG sound pretty beast. I think you need new speakers.

Well to be fair you should list you equipment.

 

Considering you didn't im gonna guess it's ok but not great.

 

I've used a few head phones as well a full reference surround set up with over 2000watts.

 

My basis is on the ps4 as the PS3 was ok but not as good IMHO.

 

The guns sound decent. Enough grunt to thump your chest on the reference series set up.

 

On a pair of Sony Stereo Wireless old black ones. The sounds are very tinny. Lacking mid and lows.

 

On Sony Golds they are tinny and lack mid and lows. Still slightly better then older ones.

 

Turtle Beach PX51's they sound decent. Good toned down version of the reference series.

 

My latest purchase Steel Series H's. They sound amazing and very on pair with the reference. Obviously staging and over all presence is better with the reference set up but these things are fantastic.

 

the last two head phones are coupled with a 8" Sony sub woofer sitting directly behind my seat. I play in a SIM Racing rig fwiw

 

Hopefully I get a Buttkicker gamer 2 back tied to the PS4 soon. Moved all my tactiles to the PC for iRacing.

 

i had ran a BKG2 on the PS3 before and man does a tactile feel great with a shooter.

 

My gaming rig and home theatre is slightly obsessive but I'm not nearly as bad as some. LoL

Sound perfectly fine for a video game to me. Not deafening like a real gun, not sh*tty like GTA IVs guns.

 

Only game I've ever played that's gotten gun sounds right is H1Z1. Those gun SFX are incredible. The shotgun going off in the same room as you will make you crap your pants.

Theres room for improvemnt but they have gotten steadily better. What bothers me more is that the gun sound doesn't match the actual rate of fire of the gun.

klipsch Ref Series speakers is indeed good quality. 2000 watts RMS through Denon and PSA XS30 sub and an MK SB12 is.

 

As I said all reference stuff. Not your box store junk.

 

I'm guessing you was lost at the reference part. Granted there is far superior equipment to what I use. However I had a Synergy series set up at one point and its inferior in so many ways to reference speakers.

Last night I was messing with the sound settings under audio.

 

If you set sound perimeters to headphones you get option at the bottom relevant to the cechya-0080 head phones. Not sure what it does at I don't have a set of these on my PS4. My fiancé uses this set and I plan to have her check that setting out and see if it improves anything.

 

Thought this might be something someone has seen and can elaborate on or possibly use and benefit from.

They're not great, but it's certainly a lot better than the previous games. If I remember correctly, the Heavy Pistol has a semi-realistic firing sound to it.

I think that was the officer's recording equipment heavily muffling the sound of the gunshot more than anything else.

Out of all of the GTA games so far, V has the best gun sounds (engine sounds too). There's still room for improvement, if you're looking for realistic sounds, but they are more than adequate for a game of this type.

 

San Andreas' guns ALL sounded terrible. IVs were better, but not by much. V's guns actually sound like guns, even if some of them lack the punch.
