Engine Sounds Current Gen Appreciation Thread

I find when I drive different cars on the xbox one that I drove many times on my 360 that I am blown away by how they sound...

 

This thread is to specifically discuss that...

 

some cars I think sound outrageous on current gen...

the most improved to me is the carbo though and I'm not even a huge fan of it...drove one through traffic off an npc and want one now!

Try listening to the Infernus. It has such a gritty, crisp, grizzly sound. Definitely a big improvement from Old-Gen.

Yeah I noticed the new engine sound on the Infernus, it reminds me of the GTA IV Infernus' sound.

The Schwartzer just sounds so damn good :)

The Glendale has a nice, low diesel rumble at low rpm's and idle.

Even the Penumbra has a nice sound too.

Gt has been slacking for along time. That's why forza is king.

Yeah the guys sound amazing. I'm just hoping next update gives us something cool wild and crazy.

I've noticed that even the sounds that have been copied for car to car (Dominator and Ruiner for example), have slight differences on new gen. I can close my eyes and tell the difference between the Dukes and the other Muscle cars.

 

You know what I mean? I may be crazy.

 

GT has never, ever, had good car sounds. Especially for V8 cars.

I've been playing Porject CARS since the alpha, and its shaping up to completely upend both Forza and GT.

And god know how bad Sony camp needs a proper racing title.

How about motorcycles? The PCJ and Bati sound much better than their LG counterparts.

I had to rebuy an Adder based on the NG engine note. Luckily I already had a Carbonizzare, so please lock this thread before anyone puts more ideas in my head :D

Question, do the motorcycles sound any different ? In the ps3 for example, the bati I don't really like how it sounds, any change there?

Christ I could have used you a couple of weeks ago over at IGN. Moron Sony fan boys trying to tell me GT sounds and plays better than Forza. GT isn't what it use to be and I use to be a huge GT fan ( that was till Forza came out ) BTW I'm not this Xbox fanboy, whatever game is better is better. Right now it's Forza ( not directed towards you, just in case anyone from the other side reads this and wants to fight )

That good huh? I have it in my Gamefly Q and I can't wait to try it. And about the bikes, to me they kinda sound the same. I really haven't played around with them too much.

Yeah the Coquette classic and Rat truck definitely received a huge sound update and now sound like a genuine small block, instead of a leaf blower... The Carbo is a favorite for sure, but I think the V8's have the best overall sound improvement...Coquette Dukes, Hotknife, Slam van being good examples... but for me personally, it does'nt get any sexier than the Z-type at full pitch! God I love that car! :p

Adder sounds different, but not better. It sounds raspier but the actual engine sound got reduced.

It sounds like a w16 with a nutty exhaust as far as I'm concerned.

First gen Oracle sounds a bit more aggressive than on old gen.

They both have their pro's and con's, but I just boil em down to this:

Forza:

Pro's

-Much better car design and attention to detail than GT (Nice job with the copy-paste job GT6)

-Sound..... OMG the sound :D

-The livery editor should be standard across the board.

Con's

-Even with the vehicle line-up in the 600+ range, major vehicles from car manufacturers are missing (Really, no Accord Type-R or R30-R32?)

-Driving is like piloting a lawn-mover, even with expert tuning, cars handle and drive badly.

-More current focus on micro-transactions and dlc, while reducing the car line up*

 

And Gran Turismo:

Pro's

-1000+ cars, even novelty vehicles like the Model-T and Jet Car

-Driving physics are much better all around than Forza**

-Track design is excellent; I still have nightmares of the corkscrew on Laguna Seca D:

Con's

-It has a fairly steep learning curve than Forza, even more so on the earlier titles (Dodge Viper braking license A-Class test anyone?)

-To get the most out of many cars, tuning is required and is a bit daunting to anyone unfamiliar with vehicle physics terms

-Terrible sound on vehicles, just terrible compared to Forza.

 

*To be fair, both games have been leaving towards this, with very polarizing effects, most negative.

**Since Forza is an arcade/sim, it straddles the line between full on arcade (NFS), and full sim (Project-C, GT, F1 series.)

I notice many cars that were used in SP missions were updated. The Z Type, F620, etc.
