That freakin never-eding triathlon

Okay, so i'm close to finishing the main story, so i went off-road a little and started finishing the parachute and triathlon missions. It was a mistake. The first 2 triathlons were fine, easy enough, but the third one. are you f*cking kidding me? When i was swimming for like 8 (!) minutes, i thought something was off.. and then the riding was at least twice as long.. i thought i'm gonna need a new controller if it's going to be like this, i pushed the X button like ten thousand times. All this would have been okay, but close to the end of the riding part (20+ minutes total so far, what the f*ck) when you're on the beach with those tight roads, i fell off the bike and of f*ckING course the others were rode right through me so i didn't have a chance anymore to finish at a good position at all. Now i need to start this all over again..

So my question is: who in the f*cking hell desined this mission? Are they insane? Even if it was the last triathlon this would be insane, not talking about the fact that it's only the third one. So since i failed to do it, how long is this mission actually? Like 1 f*cking hour or what? When i failed i was at 20-25 minutes and i was nowhere near the end. This pissed me off so much to the point that i almost crashed my screen with the dualshock.

The worst thing, accidentally pressing right to quit after 25 minutes of tapping X/A. There's no "are you sure you want to quit" so never try turning the bike light on!

I did it in 27 minutes.

^^ I made the same misteak. )-: I f*cking rage quit hard after that. lol.

And to answer the OP, the third triatholon takes about 30 minutes to complete.

I never failed that Triathlon even when I accidentally went offcourse and got stuck in a metal road fence during the bike race. Had to go back to the checkpoint and I still managed to catch up.

So my question is: who in the f*cking hell desined this mission?

<mission><id>1081494</id><name>MG - Triathlon 3</name><description>Los Santos Ironman</description><scriptName>TriathlonSP.sc</scriptName><issues> </issues><storyDescription>Third and final Triathlon where the player swims the length of the Alamo Sea, Bikes south thru Los Santos to Vespucci Beach, and runs up into the hills north of Vinewood</storyDescription><missionId>MGTR3</missionId><played>false</played><adminToPlay>false</adminToPlay><percentageComplete>95</percentageComplete><designerInitials>RoP</designerInitials><projectedAttempts>1.0</projectedAttempts><projectedAttemptsMin>0.0</projectedAttemptsMin><projectedAttemptsMax>0.0</projectedAttemptsMax><variantNumber>0</variantNumber><inactive>false</inactive><singleplayer>true</singleplayer><checkpoints/></mission>

<designerInitials>RoP</designerInitials>

*I don't know if that's really who designed this triathlon.

Well, it is a triathlon. The worst part to me is the unfairness of it. No matter how fast you tap the button the opponents stay right on your ass. There is no pulling ahead and if you do they pull up to you. I think they call this rubber band a.i.

The side missions in this game absolutely suck. Their design is so lazy. Like with this stupid triathlon, it`s just a button mashing, no techniques or anything, just tapping the button for 30 minutes.

I`ve only did it once and never again. It`s like every side activity in V feels so pointless. There is alot to do but neither one of these activities doesn`t feel interesting to do. Just for killing the time nothing else.

Just look at how many pointless crap is in this game. Triathlon, yoga, tennis, tow trucks, paparazzi, boring busines missions, submarine parts, nuclear waste, spaceship parts, letter scraps, monkey mosaics...

Like wtf! After you do all these sh*t you realize it`s so boring, pointless and unrewarding and you have a feeling that you actually wasted a week of playing- it takes about 1 week doing all this bullsh*t if you play only 1-2 hours per day.

I have absolutely no interest in any of V`s side activities. Even the bail bond and arms trafficking become boring quite soon.

That`s why i said this GTA has the lowest replay value. You can finish the storyline in couple of days and after that you realize there`s nothing interesting to do anymore Except for creating havoc which i`ve been bored of a long time ago already.

Despite how big the world actually is, the map feels lifeless and dull.

It's a race. Races aren't about being fair, they're about winning. YOU HAVE TO WANT IT!

It took me about 27, 28 minutes. I think. Less than half an hour, anyway.

Signatures are dumb anyway.

^^ you may wanna try a different game.

I will. As soon as new RDR will be out. Then i`ll be more than happy to say goodbye to V forever, believe me.

Swim underwater. Believe it or not, it is faster than swimming on the surface. Just keep your eye on lung capacity and you'll be first during the swimming part. It's also a good way of improving lung capacity stat.

On the bike race, it's impossible to always stay first, but there is a bunch of shortcuts thanks to the way the checkpoints are separated. Also holding RB/whatever-is-the-Playstation-equivalent to bunny hop on BMX/other bikes will not make you hop on the race bike - it will make the protagonist lean forward which helps you to gain speed. Leaning in different directions with the left stick can also have an effect.

If you manage to be the first to finish the bike race, there is absolutely no way you could lose now. Keep sprinting straight and you'll win it quite easily. Constantly jumping might help you be faster but I wouldn't count on that every time.

Also keep jumping when you're entering and exiting the water. The wet sand will be slowing you down, jumping will make you skip it.

This is how I win the triathlons every time I play them. Sometimes I'm even second/third on the bike race and win it either way.

If the AI is playing unfairly, you should too ;)

Cutter De Blanc

I biffed it on the bike, but once we got to the running portion the opponents started walking, so I won anyway.

I already said goodbye...yesterday. Took it to Vintage Stock for store cred and picked up GTA IV Complete Edition. No regrets.

I was just stating my opinion. I had no trouble winning all 3 triathlons. Once you reach the foot race, it's a cake walk. Thanks for the tips anyway.

First person mode made thriathlons so easy. When you are in FPV, you don't need to tap to go faster, instead you just hold to go max speed.

^ Tapping the A or X button for nearly 30 minutes isn't challenging, it's a total chore.

And I especially love the lack of any reward at the end. Heaven forbid we get some cash...

It is the epitome of repetitive. You get passed all the time only to pass them back..just gets old.

I don't see how could anybody in his right mind find mashing the buttons against the cheating rubber-banding AI a challenge?

Its frustrating ( same thing with the cop chases ) and less fun as no matter how skilled you are; both in terms of characters' physical stats, and quick reflexes on your part the AI will always find a way to get either ahead of you or stay closer regardless of all the efforts and time you put to get a lead.

The triathlon itself is cool, its the length and design flaws ruin the entire experience.

Sadly there are many other aspects about the game similar to triathlon loaded with little flaws that are so noticeable that makes me wonder how such games so easily get 10/10. Its simply ridiculous and pure laziness on Rockstars' part that they are not able to design a competent A.I and still stick with the outdated bullsh*t.

No matter how great V looks, it actually sucks when it comes to raising the bar of gameplay.

no the worst is being close to the end of the bike portion and hitting a spectator and then being disqualified. As far as winning the thing don't worry how far ahead the others are, it will be made up towards the end of the bike race and the running portion is cake, the others are all tired

I would've preferred the older activities (Vigilante, Firefighter Missions, Gang Wars, etc.) over tapping the same button for half an hour with no reward. I think it's WORSE than Yoga, and that says a lot.

then don't do it if it's too difficult.

Was one the parts of the game that really reminded me of San Andreas, San Andreas Marathons... Like them all a lot more then the running around in the desert embedding a circle into the ground Epsilon mission.

You're not being held at gunpoint to complete it so don't sweat it, just let it go.

i remember those controllers. lol. think i had one for my mega drive back in the day, or maybe my psx i dont remember. pretty sure they do not exist anymore for current consoles tho. they would likely cause issues with some multiplayer games if they did.
