American Viking
Martin Madrazo must be the least intimidating mobster in the entire series, I'm speaking from a single player perspective because I have not and will not play online so I do not know his demeanor there although I'm confident it's the same. He's more mouth than action if you ask me. GTA V expects us to take this man seriously as a legit mob boss to be feared and yet somehow Trevor Phillips was able to kidnap his wife and injure his ear...in Madrazo's own home! If Martin was as bad as he says he is, then Trevor wouldn't have gotten past the gate. I think back to other mob bosses/mobsters from GTA IV, men like Mikhail Faustin, Ray Bulgarin, Ray Boccino, Phil Bell, even the mob boss that the other mob bosses think is a joke...Jimmy Pegorino, and I realize that each one of these men were much more heavy on the intimidation factor and not to be messed with. It seems Martin Madrazo's inclusion in GTA V was merely to put Michael in debt and force him back into bank robberies. Once Madrazo is paid off, there's what, a couple missions for him and a petty excuse to send the focus of the game to Sandy Shores for awhile. C'mon man. Even other mobsters/mob bosses from the 3D era are more intimidating: Wu Zi Mu...who is not only blind, he doesn't try to be intimidating at all but you know he's not to be crossed. Ran Fa Li, Sonny Forelli, Salvatore Leone, Kenji and Asuka Kasen, etc. Each one of these people felt powerful and intimidating but not Madrazo. Not at all. HoleInTheSky
Mundane Madrazo was just a 5 minute distraction from FIB work. Being the first character in the story to be a threat to Michael, I was expecting something good, but during that initial meet, he tickled Michael with a bat walked off, trusting Michael to repay his dept... just like that, a man who just destroyed his mansion, Madrazo was in superb control of his emotions. Probably a Friedlander client himself. There was no real leverage to ensure the job was complete either. Madrazo could've at least kidnap one of Michael's family members to add a much needed sense of urgency to keep your word, whilst further developing Madrazo's would-be-imposing character. Caida Libre was a weird one. Martin must've been sh*tfaced during the second meeting, because now he's everyone's favourite uncle. The guy was nice, and you never thought "I don't wanna get on his bad side", because he basically didn't have one. The jump from what happened in LS felt like a different game altogether and we were now playing LBP: Tales from Los Santos. I know Michael paid his debt, but a villain shouldn't become bosom buddies that quickly, surely? Also, Trevor kidnapping Patricia was really out of place. If it were true, his men (who are usually present at his ranch), would've pursued him. Rockstar treating this sub-plot like a bad party gag to fill some time. Remember the Gracie exchange and the weight behind it, well don't expect anything like that when Trevor hands Patricia back. Madrazo waves goodbye and we all walk off into the sunset. There was a lot Rockstar could've done with Madrazo, he was voiced well, but in practice he was horrendous. Trevorphilipjfry
I think the Madrazzo avenue was left unexplored, he could have been a lot more threatening. But TBF his character kinda fits in with the vibe of V, I see it as more of an action, dark humour comedy story. More grown up than SA, less so than IV. Id have preferred it, if he was more menacing, but I think he's consistent, and it fits. RASPY

I certainly wanted Martin to be actually threatening, to say the least.
Lemoyne outlaw
i thought martin was an interesting charecter. he should have been like the mendez cartel in vcs. i also agree about a similar thing with gracie they could have had trevor and michael demand money from him and when they meet its an ambush. m and t have to fight through the cartel and escape. the mission would have been money is a girls best friend. i also heard martin would have been incolved in the cut sharmoota job. that would have been cool to see. MrDeSanta
It`s unbelievable what R* did to this character. I cannot believe they messed him so bad. He had great potentials and he could become one of the best GTA antagonists alongside with Tenpenny and Dimitri. But no, they f*cked him up and made a joke out of him. How the hell did Trevor manage to bite his ear off and kidnap his wife in Madrazo`s own house? Where were his silly copy/paste bodyguards? When you are wanted in LS after this event and if you enter the city you have like endless amounts of those retards coming at you the second you enter the city limits. But when Trevor did that in his own house there weren`t any of them protecting him? Wow i can`t believe this sh*t, i really can`t. This was certainly one of those "WTF!?!" moments where i literally dropped my jaw at my 1.st playthrough. The step from the intimidating psychotic looking mobster in the mission "Marriage counseling" to the mission "Caida libre" was just too big. I could really expect better from R*. It's like those two parts of the story were written by different people. Thoughts? It's been said before, but it feels like the entire story was written by a group of people doing a version of a chain story. Everything feels so out-of-place and the entire story feels like everything is happening with the end goal of trying to be funny, which let's face it, this game does a whole of trying to be funny but never actually gets there. There's no substance, no weight, no memorable moments. It's all just a big jerk-off of "look at how much we can make fun of!"
