Who else wants a more serious gta for VI?

I love gta and all but I feel like it jumped the shark big time, I am hoping they make GTA6 more like gta IV in the terms of realism. I also wouldn't mind a smaller map that is way more detailed, like a map half the size of gta V but it has tons of enterable buildings you can go through and I would also like them to tone it down with the guns, like having a minigun in your back pocket is really stupid so I would really like if it just had shotguns and pistols and the odd assault rifle and grenade here and there, just to make gun fights more than roll around like a retard and shoot a guy with some insanely retarded weapon, having only guns like pistols and shotguns makes it way more intense.

As much as I enjoyed IV, I believe that VI should go on the path of Vice City. Vice city had a serious tone to it. Tommy is trying to create his own empire while fighting off the city and his old friends up North. that's a serious story, but it wasn't always serious. It could be silly at times. However, it never got as silly as stealing jet packs or alien hallucinations. That's what Rockstar should aim for with VI.

Me.

The rejection of realism in GTA V just made that game childish and a bit stupid.

UFOs, Duke 'O Death, the ghost of Mount Gordo, the frozen alien... What the hell did you, Rockstar?

No thanks. IV is my least favourite non-top down GTA by quite some margin. V was a huge return to form for me and I'd hate to see them go backwards again.

Serious.. as in serious for storyline .. and everything around the protagonist feels more realistic and being a lot more focused; whether you consider any situation, character, mission, etc. both in and outside the story? I don't mind to continue with a more mature take with the future releases but there has to be a good balance ( as mentioned above through Vice city example ).

Also, realism itself can sometimes become boring and a deterrent to fun. I would appreciate a realistic, and challenging feel mixed with the right amount of fun and no form of any kind of stupid restriction is placed upon the player.

For instance: Heavily scripted events and linear missions to simply keep the players stick with the pre-planned cut scene driven experiences, no matter how exciting they look, its just unacceptable. More non-linear approach with a great sense of freedom is more welcomed.

I'd also love to see them make the combat and shooting longer, and complex where the player has to think and make every move and shot count.

There are a lot of other things, I can share but it will take a huge post.

I thought with IV Rockstar had stepped up its efforts to bring interesting changes, and focus on keeping the ball rolling in the right direction until V released and they messed up both the gameplay, and GTA feel.

So yeah. Cool if R* will come back to their senses soon.

I want them to make the game they want to make no matter the direction. Do things out of passion rather than obligation.

Agree with OP, that`s what i was thinking as well. Ffs, why R* can`t be more moderate and pick more medium way instead of going from a very serious crime game to a complete joke.

Give us more serious story with more sense, the actual intimidating antagonists who represent a threat to the protagonist instead of some clowns. Give us more discrete and subtle humor that isn`t forced down your throat EVERY single moment of the game, give us the jokes that are actually funny and not just MEANT to be funny.

Let the serious moments in a game stay serious instead of being broken by childish jokes. The things like murdering, robbering and torture shouldn`t be escorted with stupid jokes and wrapped up in a slimy, soapie and bad humor.

We also don`t need f*cking parodies on modern wannabe society on every step. We need a game that doesn`t feel like one big bad joke. This is GTA not SR.

Also give us less over the top bullsh*t, give us more human and realistic protagonist(s) not some supermen who could cut the corners at 120 mph by slowing down the time or survive a tank cannon shot by entering a rage mode.

We don`t need this sci-fi crap for a GTA game.

Please, make the next GTA more like a GTA crime game instead of some over the top, SR-style bullsh*t, infested with juvenile "humor" on every step.

Make GTA VI like a GTA again. Is this too much to ask?

I don't really mind having a nice, fun and maybe over the top gameplay as long as the story stay serious and well made.

I consider GTA IV as an almost perfect GTA, the story is excellent and I find the gameplay really fun (at least in my opinion). Sure there's some minor things that I don't like but they aren't that annoying.

GTA V's gameplay was good, I can't complain about that, there's things that I appreciate, and others that I don't like, but they doesn't ruin my experience (and I don't even have the New Gen version).

Now what makes GTA awesome for me is its story, It can have some fun moments but as long as it stay serious and well written I will not complain (when I mean serious, I don't want to have a Saints Row 3/IV version of the story, that's all).

And that was the major flow of GTA V's one, the story felt empty. I have the feeling that R* didn't make the story reach its full capacity. Which is sad because I'm sure, if they made the game by their own way, instead of listening to every IV haters for example, the game story could've been much longer and maybe much better than IV's one.

I don't want to force R* doing things my way. It's their choices and their games, but I would really like to see the next GTA as good as IV. Something that would surprise me when I play it for the first time, for the second time, and the fifth time. And maybe even doing something like EFLC, adding a new point of view of the story with other characters that don't necessarily have to work together, at least if they re-use the 3 protagonists system.

There are many ways to improve GTA, now R* just have to exploit them to their full capacity, and I hope that VI will be the proof that R* came back to their roots...

IV had a beating heart... in the damn Statue of Happiness. The irony, lol.

OT:

I would like a mix between IV and V. However removing the minigun? Why? That weapon was part of the series since VC. You don't seem to love GTA in general at all...

If they remove the Duke of death I will become a VI hater. I love that car. Half the people want to turn GTA into Saints Row and the other half want to turn into Mafia II.

As ssabawesome said, VC had the best balance, not too dumb or serious, i don't want a game so dark as TLAD or so joker as Gta 2, they need to find a balance.

I just want a more consistent game again. The reason I love GTA IV is it's consistent from start until finish. It might be dark and bleak, but no one can deny it's a theme the game holds throughout. GTA V simply tries too hard to both be serious and wacky IMO.

I think GTA VI should be more grounded like GTA IV, but more of what people want like drug dealing, vehicle theft, gang wars etc. It doesn't have to be as barebones as GTA IV content wise, but I would prefer to see less Saints Row elements and more of what made GTA so fun to begin with.

My initial response really goes along with the mindset that it will be set in Vice City, or Las Venturas for that matter. However, if we were to get an urban jungle setting like Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, or Chicago, then a darker, more serious is needed to fit the location. That's a giveaway if we get a game in Carcer City, no matter what city or cities they may base it off of. If Rockstar f*cks up the tone with Carcer, there's no forgiving.

I'd be perfectly fine with having vehicles like the Duke O' Death as long as they weren't mandatory to use. As long as they were something on the side that you could find and maybe have a small side-mission for, I'd be all for it. Just don't bring too much craziness into the story.

Because people want to complain about anything on this f*cking forum, i don't see no one complaining about the Zebra cab in the all mighty VC or the Bickley' 76 in 3.

That is exactly what the Duke O Death is. You get it through a random event and then you can but it. After that you can ignore it. Even I can admit V has it's problems but that is not one of them.

The Bickle '76 was in LCS, mate. You're thinking of the Borgnine.

Although, that brings up a good point. A lot of people credit III as being one of the darkest GTAs, usually being placed behind IV. Despite that, it has this vehicle that people can berate for straying off the realistic mood that III has. I don't see people doing this. Why? Well, it was the 3D Era. Those times were different, somehow, from the HD Era. People will say, "Well, these games weren't supposed to realistic." Still, shouldn't the HD Era be allowed to get silly at times? The Borgnine wasn't mandatory. You could easily play the game and miss it. It's the choice of the player to unlock it and that works perfectly fine for the HD Era.

This

Vice City had you going from saving your friend from being killed in a scrap yard to putting gigantic tits on the side of a building.

GTA is the 3D era games to me, and it shoulld try to stay as true to that as it can. San Andreas definitely went a bit crazy at times but when it's done right I don't see anything wrong with it. It's neccessary even, otherwise you end up with a game like GTA IV which lacked hugely on mission variety and the crazyness that made the games. IV was fine and all, but because it took its self so seriously it limited what you could do with story. There are only so many times I can steal/kill and get away from the police before I get bored. Let me pilot a toy plane that drops bombs onto boats.

Yes, I don't want GTA VI to be another side effect of Dan Houser's cocaine addiction like GTA V.

I'm starting to get dizzy from the extremes in the series. To want something "more serious" does not mean "most serious" or grim. Wanting things "less serious" doesn't mean "totally wacky farce."

Every swing back and forth seem to be going further out to new margins. I kinda hope this pendulum can find a happy medium.

sry for copy n past but it fits

i dont think the bank robber story of V is bad

its only the storytelling that fails

We all know what gallows humor

Rockstar Games means

- Games for adults /

the gore in Red Dead, Manhunt

or the satire in Bully, Grand Theft Auto

or the seriousness in Max Payne , Noire

atleast what do fans want from the next

Grand Theft Auto ?

the darkness in III, IV

the sympathetic in VC, SA

or the over the top in V

:* we will know it soon ...2016/2017 ?

I'd like to see another GTA IV like GTA, with the Dark atmosphere and the mysterious feeling around it. It had a great feeling of struggle to it. GTA V in all seriousness was overdone and they tried to make the game look more serious with a sunnny surrounding like LA, with the triple protagonist drama. That was too much of a joke.

It needs a personal tone like IV, we need something to the plot, and not make the environment take over the story, kind of like V. What most people complain about and brag about is that: GTA V is set in Los Santos, wich is a place where people think wacky stuff happens and silly things, (LA*cough* Los*Cough* Angeles*Cough) And when they hear LC, they think of the darkest and grittiest story of all time and the darkest place in the entire world (New*cough*York*cough*city*cough).

SO IMO that is the main problem, I want the next gta to take place in VC, and if it does, I hope R* doesn't let the tone of Vice City (80's, this, that, bla bla bla etc) take over on how they make the story, and let it overshadow peoples opinion on thinking if this is a serious game or not...

In a way, I want it to be both dark and a little light like IV and V mix. In a way, of course. It needs that realism, so people doesn't brag so much. Yes, a serious story is needed, but just because it is serious, does it need to be dark? V was like this, but the whole mediocre LA stuff that V 'had' is what overshadowed peoples opinion on V's story.

Seriously, yoga, hipsters, fame or shame, bleeter and life invader were the worst things that could happen to this game.

It`s like the game is making fun of itself. Like you`d create something and then you`d make fun of it. Maybe i`m overreacting but that`s exactly the feeling i have with these piece of sh*t parodies in V.

The same goes for Jimmy. Just look at the way R* created him. He is almost 100% clone of typicall real life Online gamer. Lazy, arrogant, Online-loud mouthed insulting coward with the tattoo that says "entitled" on his fat porky neck.

He was certainly created for the reason of mocking.

V certainly wasn't made because of "passion"

people didn't like GTA IV's serious tone so they went full silly because they had to (V is still pretty fun though)

I'm with you OP but we won't see a serious GTA for a long time to come

V was way too well received for that

most GTA fans like over the top silly and light hearted stories we are in the minority
