XIII-V-XIX
I know south LS and the Senora desert region really well as I spend most of my (off-mission) time cruising the former with Franklin and the latter with Trevor. As for the rest of the map... I know it pretty well. If you told me to go to, IDK, Bahama Mama's from the Paleto Bay area I'd be fine playing it by ear with landmarks. But if you named a street then I'd be pretty much f*cked as I can't seem to memorize them like I did in IV.

Osho
Very well. At nights it can be hard at times but otherwise draw distance comes** handy as my HUD bro !!! E: ** typo Edited February 9, 2015 by Osho
Kampret
It's pretty easy to memorize GTA V and play without minimap. It's harder to memorize IV LC actually. Cutter De Blanc
PowerKracker
I can't move a city block without using the minimap, but that's just me. Maybe if I forced myself to play without the minimap I would have learned it somewhat better, but I just remember layouts poorly. Crimson Flam3s
Been playing without hud, on and off for a couple months now and I can remember most places except road names, aint nobody got time for that. Wish the gps voice system was still here or an in game gps system with arrows on the street like watchdogs.

I still can't get out of south Alderney without a waypoint, Acter Industrial park is a f*cking labyrinth. Kampret and PoeticWhisper
CarlitoDorito
I'm used to using the waypoint to get anywhere so not too well.
OurJud
This is an ability I have in real life so I apply when playing GTA.... Funny that, because in real life, I could get lost in a phone box / booth, so I expect that's why I'm so hopeless at finding my way around the game world. Webster.
I guess I know most of the main roads of by heart now, but I still occasionally find secret hideouts and stuff like that from time to time

gtaguy95
I know it even better than my local area. This. This has applied to me ever since gta3. Kinda says something about me. JStarr31
Nick930930
Doesn't say much, the gta maps on average are fAR less complex than a real area.
J Cobra
I tried it without the hud and the GPS. I decided to go from LSIA to Paleto Bay, and it took me a while to get there. It's pretty easy to memorize GTA V and play without minimap. It's harder to memorize You sure? Because I can get to north Alderney from LCIA in no time with out the hud. HoleInTheSky
Knew most of it early on. Road patterns and landmarks, also the skyline acts as a compass of sorts. Seeing as game maps are always increasing detail, this helps create mental backtracks.
PoeticWhisper
Like the back of my hand. Can get anywhere from anywhere without a single issue. My friends like to make fun of me because I don't need to use waypoints. I only use my HUD for my health bar and cops TBQH. MikeyB
I find V very hard to memorise. Even the parts of the city I like I couldn't put my finger on a map to show where I was. If you showed me the map and asked me where Trevor's strip club was I would be wrong. By the time I had finished playing IV I could have earnt my living as a cab driver. I knew everywhere. I did play that almostly exclusively though from it's release up until V came out.
J63M
I can't find anything in the in-game map, but once I'm actually THERE in-game, no matter on foot, car, bike, plane, whatever, I know where I'm going. Just use landmarks, or make your own. "Oh, that's the tunnel where you go in the first heist" or "Hey, this is the street that goes to the Los Santo's Customs!" goes a long way when you are in a rush and need to get to the Port City Merryweather Yard to find a sub to escape the maniac in the Buzzard who's out for your bounty. Same deal in GTA4. Give me a motorcycle and tell me to go ANYWHERE from the Lost MC clubhouse, and I'm your man. Give me the map and say "So where is Niko's first apartment?" and I'll have no idea. theGTAking101
SCOOBASTEEB
I know it relatively well. Not as much as I knew III, SA and IV though, I knew those street by street. I can get around V without thinking about it but there's still the odd time i'll take a wrong turn, mostly when i'm aiming for either the docks or the airport and end up at the wrong place.. Personally I think that's a positive from their point of view
DaveGrimes96
very well unfortunately, the map was a real let down theGTAking101
GTA_dog
I swear I go too fast in the city to remember where I'm at. I play online too much so I'm usually speeding away from someone and I realize where I end up later. I know bits and pieces, but I don't have it fully memorized despite playing since release on LG. Lelouch The Zero
This topic makes me realize I should play the game more often to memorize the map, but then I remember that dreaded car spawning glitch. Dope_0110
V map is probably the easiest one to get around in without any hud. The reason for that is the huge draw distance that lets you see landmarks even far away, and it's openness and layout that actually allows you to see far away. In IV drawing distance was big but everywhere you turn you either have tall buildings or train tracks or something else blocking your view and everything being just blocks, after blocks after blocks made it hard to get around for quite a while. In older GTAs draw distance made it harder to get around in the beginning and in V none of those problems are there so it's pretty easy to learn your way around the map. K20
know it to find places without looking at the map. sometimes miss it by a block and i go around. but in that time i've forgotten the map for IV. arggghh... need for GB of memory in the brain. SirPitudo
Unfortunately i know it extremely well! I know just about all the locations of stores etc without the map. And as a bonus i know every corner of the maze, reminds me of the maze in cod zombies. I only play on weekend due to work and student (university).
