OurJud
I like to play with all the HUD off, but unfortunatley and despite the fact that I've been playing this game since it came out, I still need the map and GPS, even to get to somewhere a few blocks from where I am. I just wonder - even though some people will claim they can - if anyone can really find their way to every corner of the map, without using the GPS. happygrowls
I know the map as it's on my wall, and the fact that it's printed on the back of my skull. Sussus Amongus

OurJud
I know the map as it's on my wall, and the fact that it's printed on the back of my skull. That doesn't answer the question. So, let's say I put you at the northern-most tip of the map, turn all the HUD off and tell you to take me to Franklin's old house. Could you do that? rabbitgripper
I can honestly say i know the map that well. I still use the HUD, but i dont need to set waypoints. Get in a car with me, tell me where to go and thats a wrap. I shouldve been a LS cab driver. OurJud and Sussus Amongus
Totallycasual
I would know the map a lot better had i not ignored all side missions/activities, i have been waiting for PC release before i give the game 100%.
Homicidal Hipster
I turned off the radar on my current playthrough to try and learn the map a bit better, I know my way around South LS and vinewood pretty well I also know most mission driving routes and I can drive to all the safe houses pretty easy but I still struggle with certain ares and I occasionally press pause to look where to go. I wish the voice gps system from iv was in gta v. By the time I finish this playthrough I should know the map a bit better. OurJud
OurJud
I wish the voice gps system from iv was in gta v. This has been on my wishlist since I discovered V doesn't have it. I so want to play with all the HUD off, but I'm just hopeless at finding my way around. A nice alternative would be to show the map as a GPS system on vehicle interiors, but that would only be of any use to those who play in first-person. Yeah I really could do it, I've spent probably over 300 hours on the map and I love exploring every nook and cranny. obviously there are instances where you get disoriented and lose where you are or where your going, but if you pay attention the first couple play throughs you should have a pretty good idea on how to get around. I stress the paying attention aspect lol. OurJud
killahmatic
I know how to get to all the main destinations from any point on the map, and if you picked a spot, theres a great chance I could get there. That doesn't necessarily mean I know every road. I always know where I am but that doesn't mean I know where the road leads. I know where all main roads are and which direction they are, based on my surroundings. Certain parts I still don't completely know, especially the middle of the map, between the city and the desert. There are a lot of winding roads in that area, and not too many destinations, so I haven't had an opportunity to memorize it. Totallycasual
I would much rather a situation where i can turn off the mini map/HUD and have a Forza/Watch Dogs style line on the ground leading to my way-point, i feel that too much time is spent looking down at the map for my next turn. I'd much rather be looking at the road.
Sean O'God
I know Los Santos extremely well, far better than even my own city. I never need the minimap or GPS to get to where I need to be as long as I'm in the city. I'm pretty sh*t at recognizing and navigating the countryside though. Nick930930
I know it well enough to be able to drive around and not get lost. But the problem is, I can't turn the map off online or else I'd never know where other players are. JStarr31
Lelouch The Zero
Not well at all. Only some areas, but If I turned the HUD off, I'd be completely lost, so no. OurJud
L0SS4NT0SK1LL3RV
I know it 50% with the HUD off, can go to the main known areas only without GPS or a aircraft.
Maggot899
I have the SA map engraved in my memory and I still can't help but look at the mini map. Part of it is habit, and the other is that I'm so used to it that it feels weird without it. Edited February 9, 2015 by Maggot899
Cutter De Blanc
I know it all and can get anywhere from anywhere, there are way too many landmarks to get lost. JStarr31
PhillBellic
Not that well. I am hoping to re-learn the map once I have the game on PC.
American Viking
I may not know exactly where each street ends, but I have an ideal. I can get to basic places like the strip club, safehouses, out to the desert, etc. but I don't know the map well enough to play without it. Especially when doing missions and you have to drive to a certain location.
YourGirlHasABigNose.
It is really simple to know where you're going. As in real life, use landmarks. Don't second guess your choice on if you're going the right way, just go with it. JStarr31
Vertighost
I like to play with HUD off as much as possible, and know the map pretty well if not it's easy enough to get a high vantage point to scope out where I'm at. The main problem with no HUD is when a random event happens, It gets weird not seeing the blips. Sussus Amongus
JStarr31
I swear on everything.... I know the map perfectly, Blaine County and all... It's so bad I tell ppl to name places by there in game name otherwise I can't find it (ex. Up-n-atom, Davis mega mall, utopia gardens, etc.). Wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be... I even use the highways and exits correctly, you'd be surprised how quickly the highways get you places within the city..... This is an ability I have in real life so I apply when playing GTA. It's about landmarks people, landmarks. Been doing it since San Andreas.... IV was the easiest to memorize aside from knowing real NY.. mind you, if they ever make a Vice City, pfffftt, I actually live in Miami so it'll be a breeze... seventhreeo
please I know it like the back of my.. butt, so not very well actually despite not having played for nearly a year now, I sort of know the Vinewood area because of Online but that's about it
alex1369
I never tried to play with HUD off, but i rarely use the GPS unless i really need a way out... But i would have no problem to find the vehicle impound or all safehouses of characters... starting point from Mount chilliad. Just give me a car. So lets say i know it ok, not everything but the main places for sure
autotheftgrand
I could get anywhere on the map, I know it really well, been playing with the map off for about a year, I just have the blips' option, otherwise losing police is too awkward. Only problem I have is navigating the freeways, but I've nearly learnt that as well.. Cutter De Blanc and Sussus Amongus

Ben73
Have a pretty good understanding of the map. Can get around it pretty well ever since I started playing online. Occasionally I will go into a random driveway at an industrial building or next to a shop or something and I will find the most random part of the map I have never seen before. I know all the road though, just not all the other little stuff you have to look for and don't just pass by. Have a pretty good understanding of the map. Shadowfennekin
I know most of the map like the back of my hand. Unlike IV lol. I only need help when I'm on the mountain roads. I often get lost there.
