Since the pre-order started, gta 5 pc on steam was within top 10, until now, which is pretty impressive. However, as the days go by, do you still think it has enough pre-order to stay within top 10?

Those that want the game have pretty much ordered by now....

I think it'll go top 20 until launch, not top 10.

What does this actually matter? They are going to make a lot of money anyway. It's GTA V on PC.

has already been kicked out from the top ten, read the steam treat for my reactions... now is back in... but for how long.

TBH who even cares? Do you only play games that are popular?
IMO its probably not even selling in the top ten. Its just in there to promote the game until release. Its a long known fact that the top ten isnt of total sales otherwise CSGO would be number 1 and you cant tell me that tomb raider is the 16th highest grossing game in steam history.

OFF-TOPIC QUESTION:

How are those Steam sales working?

1. By total copies sold?

2. By total income received? So the game(s) with the most revenue are in top?

3. Or what?

Does anybody know? Thank you in advance.

Steam usually kicks off high selling games from the the top ten list regardless of how much they are actually selling so there's room for other games.

Total copies sold, per week.

I havent bought it yet. I always wanted it on steam, lost interested for a while after the delay being announced.

And the promotion on steam (GTA:SA & 300k $$) was not enough to preorder it.

I will most likely buy it before it gets released though.

Don't forget GTA V was available for preorder on Rockstar warehouse and some other sites for some time before steam. Those who wanted GTA V on PC would preorder them on rockstar warehouse etc. First.

Its not on top10 anymore.

Edit: Now its again, looks like my steam is drunk.

Still in the top ten here, but I guess every once in while when there are news or infos the sale will always bring it it the top ten.

When full marketing begins it will be in the top 3 I presume in a lot of places.

who cares if it does. games that are only preorders and not available shouldn't even be in the top 10 anyway. shows that people don't learn their lesson. what if all these people preorders the game and on day 1 it is unplayable mess like gta 4? smart move empower them and give them money before they can even give you a working product

Maybe not, people know that IV was a piece of sh*t and V may very well be the same.

Honestly, I think this game will have a pretty sizable pre order, but that once it comes out, being almost two years old before release on Steam, will likely lose a good chunk of its steam (lol pun intended). I think that a ton of people who own gaming PC's already own it for a console (myself included) and that this game will have a fabulous launch and decent, but not huge, post-release sales.

My opinion is that this game is going to be discounted very quickly being that its original launch was so long ago.

The mod community may keep it alive a little longer, though.

I don't think so, maybe a 10% sale max for summer, but nothing more.

The only thing that will prevent it would be Rockstar stubbornly refusing to allow the game to be discounted regardless of lackluster sales or if the game really does continue to sell well once the pre-order fervor settles down. I am having a hard time believing the latter, but knowing Rockstar and seeing how elitist they are with their games, particularly GTA titles, I can definitely see the former keeping the price up.

I guess we'll see soon enough, but personally I doubt this game will be anywhere near full price two months after launch. Hell, you can even buy the XBox One version of the game for $39.99 on Amazon now! Interestingly enough, the digital codes are more expensive than the hard copies of the game, but that, I believe, is because Rockstar has a lot more control over how much the digital downloads cost than they do full retail hard-copies of games, which are set by the marketplace and not the publisher's potentially stubborn refusal to yield to the market conditions.

I think you're very very wrong here, the game is a month away and it was #1 on the steam chart for nearly a week, and has been in the top 15 ever since the pre-order. When it's actually released it'll be #1 for weeks.

We'll see soon enough. While I stand by my opinion, I am certainly not an expert in financial trends. But I have a hard time believing that the gaming market will support a two year old game at full price once the initial wave of exuberance dies down after release. I certainly see why the game is so popular pre-release on Steam. There has been a mass outcry and clamoring for its release, which I believe is what is accounting for the pre order numbers on Steam.

Like I said, we'll know soon enough.
