Car mirrors in PC-version?

Recommended Posts

Hey! So I considering to buy GTA V for PC. The fact that GTA have first person mode make sound very interesting. But for me realism is a very crucial point, and watching console videos when drining in first person mode with those blurry mirrors that cant reflect the cars around you really destroy th overall impression. Is there any chance there will be "real" cars mirrors in the PC version or that the will be released a patch/mode at some point implementing it?

Nice topic, i agree!

I think the way it's done on XBONE/PS4 versions is just a specular shader also used on vehicle body and glass and etc. which isn't real-time reflection, but game is capable of doing real-time reflections as there are reflections in interiors as such.

KuraiShidosha

There is maybe 5% chance PC will have real reflections. The console reflections are dynamic cubemaps that are real time but only reflect a very limited amount of detail and the surface of the mirrors aren't always perfectly flat between the polygons of the model or the normal map. So you get these blurry distorted reflections that look bad no matter how little detail is showing in them.

Modders can fix the models to have perfectly flat mirrors so reflections look better but they can't make the mirrors "real" and reflect cars and people.

Even still if the 5% chance wins and Rockstar add real mirrors to PC, it will hurt frame rate very bad. That's why I don't think they'll add it.

Why not?
Would be a cool feature, hope they're nice enough to make it happen.

I also have to agree that it looks pretty much weird.

Still, not worse than The Crew...

It's all grey -.-, and that is since BETA, people complained about it but devs haven't give a sh*t '-'.

All we need is a low quality reflection for the middle and side mirror. It can be rendered at far less detail with limited lighting quality and distance. We don't have to see every little thing behind us in the distance, only what is within the vicinity that is relevant (like cars). I would easily take a 5-10 fps drop for this just like people who do the same for 8xAA and SSAO. Just don't think it's something people would even notice enough for R* to care.

Then there's Driver San Francisco where mirrors don't reflect what's behind you but what's in front.

Chances are, PC version of GTA will not feature anything THAT unique from the PS4/XboxOne version. it will look close to identical just like every other next gen game release on the PC.

The cube mapping on the PS4 mirrors currently is fine in my opinion. You can still see vague reflections and it looks decent enough. Better than battlefield's mirrors at least lol

Nah, it's not a copy paste port, it'll be the same level of Max Payne 3, same game with far more graphical options. You can already see that comparing the PS4 version with some of the 4K screenshots. It ALREADY looks really different.

no doubts (FOR ME)

its a port cuz they take xtra time for development this game twice*

and game not support 32 bit systems, those was popular back in 2010- 2012* that's enough proofs for me. atm
so far i think game will be have same stuff as have earlier game versions (360, ps3 to xbox one, ps4)

so no working mirrors or rainy windshilds in pc version. imo

It would be nice to have, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

it can

via mods

that only way to avoid bitching from previous platforms

I'm referring to a vanilla game. Of course the modding community will be able to add reflections to the mirrors. :)

pc version will be good, sure it have same gameplay futures as on cg, so far nothing new- like exclusive content for Pc

but PC will be greatest version with no doubt.

One could say exactly the opposite; that being "No doubts for me that its NOT a port because they take extra time for the development of the game twice..."

So yeah... as to the OP I don't think anything too fancy will be implemented or anything. Maybe the same tech than in PS4/X1

it's a fixed reflection or i guess the lod models of the map? when playing in snow the reflection would still be summer was too obvious when driving the dubsta and seeing the reflection on the back spare tire

Uncle Sikee Atric

Mirrors are something the modding scene will have to fix. They are not coming out with the initial release....

Even a mobile game has this.

Racing games are entirely different from open world 3rd person action games.

GTA features a gigantic world with far more animations, details, effects, etc. A racing game is just that.. a racing game. Has very little that needs to be rendered to make it look good. That's why racing games are some of the best looking games out there.
