Failed to Join Intended GTA Online Session

Recommended Posts

LightningLord

So I come home to play GTA Online with my cousin and every time I accept his invite, I keep getting the error message: "Failed to join intended GTA Online session." Then it puts me in public mode by myself. Every single time. WHY? HOW COME IT WON'T LET ME JOIN?

Edit: Who moved this thread to another sub forum? Great. Now I'll never get an answer because no one visits this sub forum. Thanks a lot.

Edit 2: I tried hosting an invite only session and I'm playing the game. I try inviting my cousin and he's getting the same error.

Edit 3: I tried a closed friends session and the error still happens.

Edit 4: No matter what type of session I try, the error occurs.

I've only seen people complaining about this the last 2 days...

Well, this has been happening in TDMs since the release of new gen GTA.

What is happening is someone gets stuck in the clouds, ie lagging out. Anyone who joins during the time the first person is lagging out, lags out also.

Also ppl join, but are actually lagging out and don't know. The host see them as joined but all other ppl in the lobby see them as joined. This also causes the string of people lagging out. So u have to kick them ASAP. People who join as on-call also are highly likely to cause this string of ppl failing to join.

It sucks. Me and my crew guys have figured a system out to keep the lobbies filling and minimize the lagging out.

3 months later... Rockstar hasn't attempted to fix this. So... It's garbage.

I'll try my best to help here.

First you need to host your own lobbies. And you need a friend to communicate with.

You and your friend need to verify every person who joins. So when someone joins you say "is player x joined?" If they say yes leave them there. If they say no, kick them immediately.

If a player has no rank when joined or joining it ussually means they'll lag out.

For on calls, if u see them with no rank, or when doing a player count they don't show up at the top (where it says 7 of 12 people but there is 7 players and an on call ussually means they're going to lag people out) so if you see that you should kick the on call.

Sometimes it can be difficult but that's kinda the gist of things.
