GTA V's Story-What would you change?

Recommended Posts

I would have put much more focus on Madrazo and his cartel and far less on the FIB storyline, if not scrap it altogether.

The Green Sabre

-More missions to flesh out the characters (Particularly, Franklin, Nervous Ron, Stretch, and Cheng Sr.).

-Less FIB nonsense.

-Keep Simeon around for car theft side missions.

-Have there be a longer amount of time before Franklin seeks guidance from Michael.

-Keep Johnny, Terry, and Clay alive longer to give Trevor more interesting antagonists.

-Have more missions actually reward you with money.

-Have Madrazo serve a larger role.

-More missions out in Blaine County to help use the areas to their advantage.

personally when I first heard three protagonists I imagined something like GTA 4, so I would've made the characters barely know eachother (like Johnny and Niko did), it'd receive a lot of complaints but it's just something I would've wanted to see

I'd also have wanted fewer missions with the three/two of them together, more individual missions to feel like there's one protagonist then you realise you got three and appreciate it

just me maybe coz I'm nuts about how they did a three protag story for GTA 4/EFLC, it was genius

Triple the amount of missions.

69 missions is far too less for 3 characters.

San Andreas had 192 missions for one character..

Story DLC....

I still suspect a 4th character will arrive in the story and their involvement intertwined into the story could add significantly more missions as well as fleshing out the story much more.

Story DLC? Is this what games have become?

Does EVERYTHING need to be a DLC now?

Man i miss the days when you got a complete game for 60 bucks.

Make Trevor kill Ashley in beginning, so Johnny would lead a war against him and at least go down like a falling star.

Make Lamar and Franklin taking over Simeons car dealership after killing him and export cars by themselves.

Make Franklin able to mail and date Amanda before meeting Michael. The awkwardness afterwards...

Go out with Tracey or at least add her some dialogue.

Make cab drivers recognise Franklin as "boss", customise the taxi cab.

Allow golfing at night and make the night guard recognise you, instead of shooting, even if you own the place.

Official General

* Remove Trevor as a protagonist and replace him with a Hispanic character.

* Make Madrazo the main antagonist, and make Trevor as an ally, later turned antagonist.

* Give Simeon Yetarin a much bigger involvement in the story.

* Add more gang/hood stuff for Franklin's side of the story.

* Remove the FIB/IAA/Merryweather as the main focus of the story, only relevant for certain parts.

* Make heists for personal gain mostly.

* Add more missions and more major heists.

* Put more focus on the drug trade, organized crime, and gangs.

* Less of that American culture parody/satire bullsh*t, a bit more serious crime action/drama.

* Remove the Lost MC and replace them with the Angels Of Death, Johnny K still lives.

* Remove Packie from the scene, I just don't think he was necessary in V, to me his face just didn't fit.

* Make Michael lose all his money, wealth, and mansion at the start, so he has a motive to do heists.

From the top of my head, I would:

Add more solitary, character-driven missions for all three protagonist and their close supporting characters (Franklin - Lamar, Tanisha, Stretch; Michael - Amanda, Tracey, Solomon; Trevor - Ron, Chef) to allow more character development.

Greatly expand subplots with Madrazo, Stretch and Ballas and Triads' expansion in Blaine County to give the game more organized crime presence. Also, more movie studio missions for Michael.

Tone down the humor and satire - comedy in a GTA game should be an icing on the cake, not the cake itself.

Tone down Trevor's wacky antics to make him more genuinely threatening and dangerous (see: The Boss in SR 2).

Properly flesh out Jimmy and other cheap sterotypes to give them some depth. Not necessarily remove the "comedy relief" role they play, but make them real mutli-dimensional characters with substance (see: Brucie in IV).

Expand Weston's role and presence of corporate crime in the story and have him give Franklin assassination missions instead of Lester - strengtening the bond between them. Also, I would put much more emphasis on setting him up as a potential new mentor for Frank, thus giving a more solid reason for F to betray Michael.

Remove Wade finding Michael in a phone book. Jeez, that was just stupid.

Replace O'Neils with Johnny and the Lost as Trevor's antagonists and flesh out their condition and background following TLaD.

  • Madrazo and Cheng could of teamed up to hunt down Trevor

Trev finds out about Mike's secret, they go to North Yankton, Mike gets kidnapped by Cheng's guys

Mike is taken to warehouse, hung up on hook, tortured by Madrazo with a baseball bat to find out the whereabouts of Trev and his wife Patricia. Mike losing resilience answers and gives the whereabouts of Trev's location

Madrazo contacts Wei and fills him with the details, he leaves the warehouse. Wei and Madrazo send their guys to confront Trev (takes an in-game of 3 hrs to do so)

With Madrazo gone this triggers the mission where Frank triangulates and rescues Mike.

3 hrs later, you spawn as Trevor fighting off Madrazo and Cheng's guys as Wei would gain the Blaine County area for armory operations and Madrazo would gain the success of having his wife Patricia returned to him. Though of course they fail.

Mike tries reasoning with Trev, if he hands over Patricia they have the go ahead of committing, "The Big One".

Wei Cheng is further angered....RockstarGames somehow expands on that (I don't know, I'm not a story writer)

And so forth.

Plus you got that guy Haines and Devin which were wasted potential characters.

  • There should of been more Franklin missions to allow a more appropriate reason to kill Stretch. Stretch could of and should of kidnapped Frank's ex-girl Tanisha (plus Lamar), why? as Wei Cheng is also angered for Frank killing his bodyguards so he gets in contact of Stretch and would pay him a good price to lure Frank (a scene between Frank and Tanisha could of been very dramatic) Maybe options where choosing between Tanisha and that annoying asshole Lamar to save (as their being held at gun point by the last gunman) Though Frank drops his weapon and wishes to swap positions if they let Tanisha and Lamar go, however the gunman aims at Frank and finally Lamar does something brave and noble and jumps in the way of the bullet. Causing Frank to be very angry and go ground and pound on the gunman. Lamar dies a noble death and Frank wishes he could of been more nicer to him, though Tanisha doesn't wish to want that situation ever to happen again so Frank lets her go for her safety.

Yeah that would have been better.

Most of these don't involve the story.

I'll make the story longer, fleshed out and veiny, more missions and suporting characters for each protag.

I'll make Michael more likable and change his family or remove it.

Tone down Trevor, remove his cannibalism and addiction to meth for a drug less harmful to his health, make Johnny a minor antagonist.

Make Franklin interesting, turn Chop into a velociraptor that follows orders.
