PSA: Don't believe preload rumours

These pictures are fake. Anyone can do it by typing "steam://install/271590" into a browser. It'll try to force the game to install but will fail since there isn't a public build on Steam servers yet.

If you see anyone posting this as "proof" please please don't believe it. If it's on the forums, just report it or something because I'm sure the admins don't want to see this sh*t clogging up the pipes either. Unless someone screencaps files open in notepad or something there's a huge chance it's all fake. Just wanted to let everyone know.

Well, don't know why this topic got into a flame war about preordering, but...

I just confirmed with Rockstar support that you can only download it within 30 days. You have to let them know if you want to download it again (which is stupid)

Thank you for contacting the Rockstar Games online store.

The product that you ordered is a pre-order and has not yet been

released to the public.

Once that you will be provided with the download link, you will be able

to download the game within 30 days that the link was provided.

However, in circumstances that you may need to download it again in the

near future you can contact us back so we can extend the validity of

your download link.

If you have additional questions, please reply to this email.

We appreciate your business.

Guess I'll be returning and buying it from Steam.

Hmm Sounds just like what they said last year and the year before that I must be in a time paradox. But if I where you I would not believe a single word they type.

Don't see why you'd want to pre-load it anyway. Any smart person would would wait for the reviews to come in before buying the game.

Seriously? If you're just talking about how well it's optimized, then I can see your point on some level, but I'm still buying either way. It will work, even if it needs some work. I've never had any major issues with a R* release, and they do an alright job when you contact their support, at least in my experience.

Way too many are pre-ordering before even knowing how it'll run on their systems. The average setup around here isn't exactly worthy of any bragging rights and I've seen several people here pre-ordering while still being under even the minimum requirements.

There's no point in pre-ordering, you're basically throwing money into a well hoping something good will come out of it.

Let people throw their money in the well. Doubt you'll influence anyone to cancel their order.

Provide me with good internet so I can download it quickly, then I won't need to pre-order.

PRE ORDER and PRE LOAD are two different things ffs...

A pre-load let's you download all of the game's files. when the game is out, it downloads a small activation file and launches the game...

so you can basically download 99% of all files, and wait until the release for an immediete launch

theMcSame.... you are an idiot... cant wait for this game to come out and run great on everything except the sh*tty computers most of you own. have a nice day

Cool story bro...

I say that for every game.

You can pay $60 now for a game you've probably put a sh*t load of hours into already which could also have a terrible launch or you could wait a little bit and pay $30 or less AND you'll know if there's any game breaking bugs or not. Guess which option is the smart one.

Hold on! Didn`t it say on the Steam page that you`ll be able to pre-load?

EDIT:

I was right

No one said it wouldn't be available for pre-load. The OP is just saying don't believe the people that are saying you can pre-load it at this moment.

Not my problem, you already have alternatives if your ISP provides you with crap speed.

Australia has worse internet than United States... and 90% of the time Americans are stuck with one sh*tty, slow, overpriced, bandwidth capped ISP without any other alternative unless we live in a large city.

I don't Telekom is the only ISP I can get here and it provides me with crappy speed (250kB/s, that is), so it would take me about 3 days to download the bloody game.

I should probably make it clear that I meant stores as alternatives.

Then, yes. I am probably going to order it from Amazon. Maybe I'll choose Steam, still. I don't know.
