Top 5 missions for 2015

Recommended Posts

Since it's a new year and this game has been played millions of times over the years, we have become veterans of this masterpiece and yes there are some who have only just started playing IV too, but we need to hear what top 5 missions as of 2015, based on your playthroughs, are the best in IV?

My selection -

1. Three Leaf Clover - has to be at the top. Always gives me goosebumps playing this mission.

2. To Live and Die in Alderney - battling waves of NOOSE to blowing a heli out of the sky to escaping - plays out like a scene in a movie. Awesome.

3. Revenge (ending choice) - Niko kills the bad guy. Enough said.

4. Liquidise the Assets - Multiple ways of completing, lots of bad guys to shoot and vans to blow up. I like it.

5. Blow Your Cover - Something about this mission that I love is the thrill of escaping on a motorbike across the bridge back to Algonguin, with the heat in tow.

1) Museum Piece. My favourite mission in GTA IV not just because of the intense shootout, but it's the only mission in the GTA IV/EFLC saga where Niko, Johnny and Luis all cross paths and as such can be played from Johnny's and Luis' perspective aswell.

2) Three Leaf Clover: Straight up no bullsh*t heist.

3) Truck Hustle: I love the unique climbing mechanics used in this mission.

4) Late Checkout: For all the different ways it can be approached.

5) Flatline: Fairly simple structure wise, but you can't tell me it isn't bad ass dressing up Niko in the scrubs and pulling the chord on Anthony's life support machine like a calm and calculating assassin.

It's hard to pick a top 5 as there's so many others I love, but these come to my mind the most.:)

4) Late Checkout: For all the different ways it can be approached.

Meh, It only had 2 approaches, elevator or the window cleaning platform.

1. Museum Piece/Collector's Item/Not So Fast

The most epic crossover in the game hands down, all 3 perspectives had an intense battle.

2. Three Leaf Clover

An absolutely epic heist with an intense shootout.

3. Lure

Now this is a mission that has a ton of different approaches:

a) Shoot the Satellite dish and snipe the guy when he gets near the TV.

b) Shoot the TV itself and snipe the guy when he looks out the window

c) Zoom into his telephone so you can see his number, call him and snipe him once he picks up.

d) Get into his building across the street, jump onto the fire escape and climb down, once he notices you he will run for it and you can shoot him before he gets into his car.

e) Call Packie for a bomb, once you get near his place, place the bomb under his car, when you get to the vantage point, dial his number 3 times (the first two times it's a similar dialogue, the third time he picks up saying that he figured out it was Francis), then he will run for it and get into his car, activate the bomb via phone and BOOM, surprise motha'f*cka!

4. Shifting Weight

I simply love the intense chase in this mission.

5. To Live and Die in Alderney

I too enjoyed that mission myself, it was pretty damn fun and it a felt like a movie.

Ok I suppose I exaggerated the approaches in Late Checkout.:p

I still like it can be done more than one way though.

Not Lance Vance

1.) The Cousins Bellic - The mission that started it all for this game. Simply put... Amazing! Getting that first feel of Liberty City (well, Broker) and driving to Roman's so-called "mansion". lol

2.) Roman's Sorrow - I actually liked this mission. It was clear that Niko and Roman were ran out of Broker (loved seeing the safehouse burn but I felt a little sad seeing the Cab Depot burn, I'll admit).

3.) Waste Not Want Knots - What's more fun than shooting a bunch goons in a waste management plant while trying to find and steal a bag of money? "What is this a pizza parlor? I ain't never seen this many Italians".

4). Three Leaf Clover - Nuff said...

5). A Dish Served Cold - "I should have put you out of your misery a long time ago. Goodbye, Dimitri."

1. To Live and Die in Alderny - A more epic version of Three Leaf Clover.

2. Hostile Negotiation - I found this mission very emotional when I first played it. "You will not harm my cousin!".

3. Three Leaf Clover - Self explanatory.

4. Trespass - I have no idea why I like this mission, I just always find it fun.

5. A Long Way to Fall - It was fun going through the levels and I felt like I always had to watch my back.

Ok I suppose I exaggerated the approaches in Late Checkout.:p

I still like it can be done more than one way though.

Technically there's three ways to get into the hotel -

Via the elevator, or land on the roof with a heli, or use the window cleaner platform.

01. A dish served cold.

- my canon way. Dimitri gets what he deserves. I'm sorry for Kate.

02. Bleed out.

- Hove Beach. Fist fight til death. I love it.

03. Street Sweeper.

- Don't remember? I bet.

I love simple missions like this. I always create a nice chase. Kill the first three guys, run across the way the last two guys drive along.

Then I shoot the driver and have a shootout with the last one.

04. Ruff Ryder.

Simply wonderful. Kill Jayvon for Dwayne.

05. Museum piece.

After the Museum shooting I have long car chase with the police driving my super gt all the across narrow Broker bridge. Lots of dead cops follow.

Great mission.

I'm sorry, three leaf clover is sweet but not my favourite.

Drunken Cowboy

Assuming it's GTA IV main-game only:

1) Museum Piece: Great shootout, destroying pots and dinosaur bones with your newly acquired .50 pistol. Plus crossovers!

2) Three Leaf Clover: It's a little drab looking at it after seeing the immense praise it gets on the forums. I'd say its praise is what was responsible for the (never realized) heisting theme of GTA V. Nevertheless, it was fantastic the first few run-throughs.

3) Trespass: Sneaking through a dilapidated building to engage in a timed rooftop chase.

4) Late Checkout: The hotel was a really neat, new settings. As mentioned, the mission is nicely dynamic.

5) Final Interview: Great buildup. Calling to scheduled the interview, walking in there disguised, finishing it quietly or loud.

I didn't spend a lot of heavy consideration on this (lol, obviously), great missions like Dining Out, Blow Your Cover, Entourage, Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend, and more are easily interchanged.

  1. Late Checkout - Multiple ways to approach it and i love in-door shootouts, and this one was fantastic. A lot of similarities between the next:

A Long Way To Fall - Again, i love in-door shootouts and sending Ted off the building is extremely satisfying, like sending the Jewish mobster off in Late Checkout.

Museum Piece - The way the trinity all connect here is amazing.

Three Leaf Clover - Epic shootout across the streets and the subway, what hasn't already been praised about this mission?

To Live And Die In Alderney - Epic cop chase and awesome shootout, plus getaway.

(Honorable Mention) A Revenger's Tragedy - nice shootout, chasing your arch enemy through Algonquin's skyline in choppers and ending it on a rainy day on Happiness Island. Simply. f*cking. Epic. But it's the finale mission, so it's a given that it's so good.

I slammed my helicopter onto the balcony in that mission.

Anyway, without being redundant, most of my favourites have already been mentioned. Well, actually bowling with my cousin is one of my favourites.

Underrated, the two Bernie Crane chase missions. I remember being half way through the game wondering when I could get my hands on Dimitri and then his henchmen appear in a Super GT. I drove like a madman in Union Drive to pay them back, then after that and Buoys Ahoy Dimitri calls you up and taunts you. That really got me.

Three leaf clover - Pretty cool to rob a bank and escape from the cops after big gun fight. Cool cutscene also, guys doing cocaine while talking.
A long way to fall - This has always been one of my favorites. Its nice to make your way on the top of the building while shooting Teddy's goons inside the building. I also like Drusilla's and Ray's acting in the cutscenes.
No. 1 - You get the Comet. Also unlocks Brucie's races. I always liked driving and racing in IV. Brucie isn't total jerk in this mission.
Blow your cover - This mission is nicely detailed. Also unlocks Algonquin and the new radio station. Feels very nice driving to
Algonquin first time.
Out of commission (Final missions ending) - Epic shooting in the Old casino leads to Island of Happiness and just feels very nice. Ending cutscenes are also well made.

L0SS4NT0SK1LL3RV

1. The Master and The Molotov - Killed a big mafia boss, getting serious at LC crime.

2. Desconstruction for Beginners - One of the most fun missions of the game.

3. In the Crosshairs - Betrayal, gore, a lot of guys to kill and a quick scape, can't be better!

4. Shifting Weight - This one is a brilliant mission, drive-by all over Algonquin and a lot of explosions.

5. Three Leaf Clover - Much cops to kill, hard, fun, and better than everything else... Money!!!
