"This is why we can't have nice things", do we all agree o

"This is why we can't have nice things": do we all agree on this, right?

No. It is purely down to the way Rockstar as a business is run. The fact that all these glitches can be exploited at all is down to terrible development (not programming), which includes the whole application design from top down. This is the responsibility of individual project managers who are most likely employed as cheap as possible and are therefore inexperienced. If this game was torn down and rebuilt by an experienced development team you would not see these issues.

They're lucky that there's so much good about the game, or they'd all be screwed.

Well.. the title was a "so to speak" kind of thing, would be pointless to say that we all agree and ask for discussion. Glitching is only a problem, but what are you saying? That just because the game can be exploited is has to be exploited? Doesn't seem like a valid reason.

No, of course not. Having a knife in the kitchen doesn't mean I should stab people, but if I didn't have one then I wouldn't even have a choice.

There are different levels of glitchers, but the main issue that users cause is through people hacking the game and using scripted menus etc.. That needs to be stamped out each time it respawns, and it always, always will. Glitching is minor in comparison, but the ability to do so should never been in the game in the first place. Yes, it's the real world so there will always be bugs of varying severity, but most of the stuff we've seen in this game is an utter embarrassment, and as I've said before I'd be out of a job if I coded that poorly.

I mean, seriously, being able to move a car by pushing a toolbox? That one factor alone (ignoring the hundreds of others) tells me enough to know that they don't have the slightest clue what they're doing.

Here's a scenario that I would believe of Rockstar. They have the following function in the game...
function add(a, b) {    return a + b + 1;}
At some point in the game it tries to add 3 and 4 together and comes back with 8. Now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the problem with that. However, the bosses at Rockstar would dictate the most obvious way to fix it would be this...
function add(a, b) {    if (a == 3 && b == 4) return 7;    return a + b + 1;}
All's good, right? When the game now tries to add 3 and 4, it gets 7. Happy Rockstar.
Then they find out that there's somewhere in the game that adds 8 and 11, but it's coming out as 20 :s :s :s
Thankfully, the genuieses that run the place are there to suggest the clever fix...
function add(a, b) {    if (a == 3 && b == 4) return 7;    if (a == 8 && b == 11) return 19;    return a + b + 1;}
Perfect. That code is f*cking perfect.
3 weeks later it looks like this...
function add(a, b) {    if (a == 3 && b == 4) return 7;    if (a == 8 && b == 11) return 19;    if (a == 1 && b == 2) return 3;    if (a == 2 && b == 1) return add(b, a);    if (a == 16 && b == a) return 32;    if (a - 1 == 5 && b == a) return 9;    if (a == 0 && b == 0) return 1; // in case we need to divide by the result    if (a == 1 && (b == 2 || b == 3 - 1)) return 3;    if (a == 7) {        if (b == 1) return 8;        if (b == 2) return 9;        if (b == 3) return 11; // people are used to this by now so don't change it    }    return a + b + 1;}
Honestly, it's laughable the way this debacle continues. Like I said, I'm just glad that the main core of the game works mostly well - at least well enough to enjoy.

Haven't bought PS Plus yet so I don't know how Online is on the current gen version. But I would like to join a crew where people just play the game how it should be played, without grinding and doing the same mode all the time, just cool people that don't blow you up every time you pass by them and can have fun in this game without using glitches and hacks. I hope I might find one when I get to play Online, I'm tired of the same "1000000000RP!!!!500000000$" deathmatches and "EPIC MEGA STUNT JUMP" races. If Online ever dies, it's mainly because of it's community. But good to know that there are still some decent people around here.

lol OP @ "extended version of Nuketown" by far the best phrase i've heard to decsribe FR in GTAO. Very on point.

I make the same guttoral groan when someone is greifing me that I did when Nuketown came as the selected map in Blockops2.

But I would like to join a crew where people just play the game how it should be played,

You mean a crew where people play the way you want to play. That's fine...you should play the game any way you like, but don't say "the way it should be played".

Why not, that was directed at the cheaters after all. And I don't think that R* wanted people to play the game by using hacks and glitches to get unfair advantages over others, so I won't change my statement.

RedlineDrifts

Simple things to make this game more fun:

- 4 Player Tennis

- 4 Player Shooting Range

- Turn Off HUD Option when Hosting a job. Imagine you can't see your map/minimap and you actually have to look and watch your back.

- Explosive Restricted Freemode Option. People chasing you in their car & shooting at you with their gun instead of tossing sticky bombs.

- Cops'n Crooks, Turf War and Mafia Work brought back from GTA IV.

- Rockstar removing all fake 1.000.000 $$$ Deathmatches and banning it's makers from using the Creator.

- Balancing Weapons such as nerfing the Assault Shotgun and allowing us to hold 2 (non-automatic) pistols in each hand.

- Balancing Cars such as buffing the Bullet, Voltic, Infernus, Vacca in the Super Class in order for them to compete. More race car choice.

- Allowing us to use all options in Los Santos Customs such as changing vehicle versions (Stallion with a Hard Top, Vinyl Roof or Topless)

- Reducing AI accuracy and removing their X-ray vision.

- Mounted Combat MGs applied to the back of the Duster. Aerial 2v2 dog fights that don't kill the planes in one hit (explosives)

Adding more variety to Freemode such as:

- At random times the train will be filled with cargo boxes and Merryweather security. You'll be able to team up with your friends or randoms (like Gang Attacks) and storm the train thus robbing it of it's supplies.

- Re-enforcing Fort Zancudo. Adding the new Gurkha trucks (The ones in the Heist Trailer) patrolling the Fort with soldiers handling the mounted machine guns. Imagine being pursued by soldiers firing their mounted cannons at you as you speed through the runway. Fort Zancudo needs to live up to it's name.

- World Events such as at a random time and day, the Life Invader offices would open and they would be protected by Noose officers guarding a kill target inside the building. You would have to fight your way in and assassinate the protected AI.

- Siege Events: Much like in Red Dead Redemption. A building would open and who-ever stays in there the longest, claims it as he gains money and RP in the end. You'd have to defend it against people as the bar fills up. Buildings such as the Merryweather Docks, Raven Meat Factory, Cluckin Bell Chicken Factory etc.

- Legal Freemode Missions such as Taxi Driving, Ambulance Driving, Police Vigilante, Firefighter etc. Possibly added in Freemode lobbies with the HUD forcefully turned off. You wouldn't know if the person driving the ambulance is either an AI or a player.

- Finally. The Casino.

I hope you've sent all these wonderful ideas to rockstar...

And to answer the question as to why we can't have nice things: hackers. They ruin pretty much every game they get their hands on..

V HoneyBadger V

We have a toxic community. It is full of kids doing stupid stuff because they see it on YouTube and think it is cool, such as horrendous cars, money exploits, griefing etc.

I really hoped that this game would be more than it currently is, but there are various setbacks Rockstar have to always deal with. I also don't understand so many missing features from past Rockstar games which aren't included, such as poker, pool, nightclubs, certain car modifications etc.

When people on this game finally grow up and stop acting like entitled assholes then maybe the dream can become reality.

Back the olden days, there was no broadband, no public Interwebs, no graphics, and sure as sh*t no MMORPGs.

We had MUDs.

MUDs were the equivilent of playing Zork with anywhere from 1 to 100 other people, running around in a text room and typing our commands.

Muds were either supported PK or non-PK. That is, you could either "player kill" or not. The Muds that supported both had a flag, akin to passive mode, which allowed you to either turn your ability to PK others on or off; if it was on you were as much a target as them. It was alot of fun as everyone was in the same lobby, doing the same task/quest/whatever, with out a split.

It was akin to passive mode here, except it worked and was visually no different (well, coz text.. but y'know). If Passive Mode was built better (correctly?) then it would be easy and enjoyable to play this game. Naturally, your car would be exempt from being blown up, you couldn't be shot in it, etc etc etc.

All this game really needs is a revision of Passive to allow people who don't really want to deal with the children in milspec gear who are playing some other game in GTAO to function in the same enviroment.

I enjoy public lobbies, because that's how you meet people. The problem is I simply have no interest to play a wargame in this sandbox.

No, I enjoy public lobbies because I know it's a competitive environment and it's a big sandbox. The problem is I have no interest in making new friends thru a Video Game :panic:

why cant we have nice things.....

Because R* dont implement things they deem are "nice" they implement things they deem "profitable" If it can be an excuse for people to buy shark cards then they will implement it. If not they will delay...

source: heists.

Assuming the community is the problem is laughable. LOL and WOW have some of the most toxic, vulgar communities you will ever see in a video game and they get alot of nice things added in every month or so. R* are just lazy plain and simple. They over promise and under deliver time after time. Once you pull your tongue out of their ass and open your eyes maybe you will see whats truely going on right in front of your face.

Blaming the hacker/modders is also a joke. R* shouldnt have come to the party with a poorly coded game and they wouldnt have anything to worry about. They could just ban them all but they cant because its the majority of the online community that are exploiting everything they can. This is what happens when you bring out an "open" game and force people to play it a single way. R* only have themselves to blame for everything wrong with this game just like R* can pat themselves on the back for everything they did right...

Just look to the horizon for GTA6 and may all their f*ck ups be long forgotten and rectified

You're kinda weird... online videogaming is a social network like any other these days. It's like saying you don't have interest in meeting people in a date site. I mean, there's single player for that, you know?

Just because there are other people doesnt mean you have to be their friend....

I only add players I know IRL on xbox (cept for 7th one) Some people you may meet through friends or w,e but acting like you go into free roam to look for potential "friends" is a stretch of the imagination.

As for saying there is single player thats just the dumbest thing I seen posted all day and 'codsnipes' was posting today which is saying something. Singleplayer is SINGLE PLAYER meaning there is nobody to fight with. If you think online and single player are exactly the same apart from you cant make friends in single player then I dont even

We can assume that Rockstar designed GTA0 with their idea or intent of how it's supposed to be played. In fact, what we have is a troll's paradise, with rewards for making peaceful players suffer for other players' amusement. Apparently that's what Rockstar intended, because that's what we have. :bored:

See, I always thought there was something a little perverted in all these arguments for turning Free Roam into a big meet and greet. Now it's confirmed :O

I've been playing multi player video games ever since my Brother and I networked 2 PC's to play Duke Nukem.

I'm not interested into turning GTAO into a dating site for losers who have to create an alternative persona to make a friend.

But at least now I understand your argument, its not the Sims you want, it's craigslist :inlove:

This is where I blame youtubers. It's not like if people needed money in-game, youtubers spread that for the sake of doing it... after all they only need to read a text tutorial and make it a video, and of course... as everyone want to be the first one it ends with 100 videos of the same glitch.

If a youtuber has a lot of subscribers, the youtuber gets paid for new content, every view and every like. That's why they are begging for likes, whoring for every scrap of info. And some try to sell you their merchandising crap through their channel on top of it. Posting a working money cheat would get you 50.000 likes and a lot of new subscribers in no time. R* pounded on those youtubers really hard, since the youtubers who posted cheats were getting rich over R* back. Some youtubers who posted glitches are banned or are in the cheaters pool for a year.

R* wants to keep us continuously broke, paranoid and ready to fry anyone that comes close to you in free roam. In the FR battles you loose ammo and cash and have no time to earn money. If there was a way to make money easily R* would nerf it.

Make no mistake, R* is a company with stakeholders. R* is on a mission to suck you out of your or your parent's cash. Everything that is a risk will get ditched. It took more than a year to get 3 properties, so that you could not convert your glitch money into Chradder bonds. At a point that no-one would buy DLC cars any more, more properties were unlocked. There is no console limitation on how many properties you can own.

Casino same thing. It opens the way to hacks and mods. The moment you could re-arrange your cars around in the garage, the hookermageddon was born.

R* could send new music on the radio with an update. The artist on the radio get so much exposure, I am sure a lot of artist would pay to get in GTA.

Heists will take one hour to complete, earning you 100 k$. Grinding missions will net you more in the same time. Again it is a balancing act not to endanger their micro transaction system. But I would welcome new content. What a truly good DLC would make stand out is not a new gun or a mask, but game changers. Like new missions or new vehicles with weapons. The Swift should have cannons like the Lazer and rockets like the Buzzard. It would have been an Airwolf.

You see, it's pointless trying to make an argument with you since you use an example to mock and make fun of my comment. If meeting people through a multiplayer game is pervert to you then you probably puke when you see two guys hugging. Didn't you see the trailer of the game, right? "Make/meet some new friends and rob a liquor store", not "be an antisocial f*ck and grief for no reason".

People like you take this way too far, that joke about the Sims is getting old and you're ignorant enough to know that the Sims doesn't have an official multiplayer mode. Keep treating this game like CoD, go ahead.

Music in videogames is a very touchy subject.

Look at IV and it's DLC's. If you buy the EFLC retail disc, you lose out on a lot of songs from IV, and can only play online with other retail disc owners.

If you bought the digital copy, you can still hear all the music from IV (as it's off the IV disc) as well as a selection from EFLC, but you don't get the extra radio station that EFLC retail does. And you can only play online against other digital download users.

They couldn't afford to re-license the music from IV to EFLC, or didn't want to pay out. Either way, the odds of there ever being a "music update" is 0%.

It costs too much, plain and simple. Same reason Fallout New Vegas has a club of Elvis impersonators, but there isn't a single Elvis tune to be heard.

1842 player kills in 122 days of game play hardly makes me a free roam warrior, but thanks for permission to play as I like........

BTW, craigslist is a US internet site where people sell things..... mainly sex

In the UK we have Gumtree. Not sure if you can buy sex on it though.

Maybe I should do some "market research"

We have Craigslist in the UK too, just have a look for 'room wanted' in London...

PS Store is not available in certain countries. Connection has nothing to do with it.

In fact, all Rockstar games require at least 2MBPS. I know because I got kicked out for the whole of last year because of my amazing 0.8 MBPS.
