"This is why we can't have nice things", do we all agree o

"This is why we can't have nice things": do we all agree on this, right?

Warning: this is an opinion and is a "long" text. If you joined a forum wanting to read posts of only one paragraph and reading is not your ally then maybe Imgur and Twitter are for you.

I started with that meme since it's a nutshell of the (in my honestly honest opinion) biggest problem about GTA Online. And here I am, claiming that it's the community the doom of the game.

Rockstar promised that GTA Online is a constant world that will be growing up and adding new stuff in order to keep the it fresh, it's their long-time project. Of course, since Rockstar said that and watching what the game is today you can ask yourself if they were scamming people or the micro transactions took the best of Rockstar Games.

You can see it in the trailer of GTA Online, the open game is showed as a PvE game rather than a extended version of Nuketown. That was Rockstar's expectations, if they were aiming their ideas to that, no wonder today the game hardly adds a new feature.

We have to give credit to the devs, they are doing partially what they said... for a DLC era where you have to pay a few bucks to get a camo in a gun watching them releasing DLCs (or updates, that doesn't matter) for free is something we don't see every day. We agree on that.

But, what about the other part they promised? What part, can you ask... heists, the casino? Yes and no, I'm talking about the part they avoid because the worst gaming community in the last years: features. I get it, it's nice to have new vehicles/clothes/masks every two months but it gets old very fast. We need (yeah, otherwise the game will "die" soon) things to to instead of things to buy. I don't think Rockstar was talking about clothes/cars when they talked about keeping the game in constant evolution.

Micro transactions are what Rockstar needs to keep releasing free content, right? Well, adding features is near impossible because bad luck decided that the worst communities went to GTA. You know what community I'm talking about: the community that pays a few bucks for a camo, the same people that want everything easy, the ones worried about rank and k/d like a life/death matter.

And we get to the point that started the thread... this is why we can't have nice things.

It's not only about having a good idea and adding it to the game as a new feature. Think about something you'd like to see in the game, whatever you want. While you think in how implementing that idea I bet you found ways it could be exploited easily and will cause a gamebreaker glitch. Even if you don't find it we're talking about the same community that managed a way to glitch money by the rearrangement tool in the garage.

It's a fact and we saw it on the Flight School update: one day and 95% (so to speak) of the players started to complain about a new feature being boring. It wasn't my favorite but I recognize it felt good to have something else to do. Less than 24 hours and Se7en and /r/gtaglitches had ways to exploit the Flight School, it was simply ridiculous. Same for heists, people will be more concerned about ways to exploit it than if the content is good.

This is where I blame youtubers. It's not like if people needed money in-game, youtubers spread that for the sake of doing it... after all they only need to read a text tutorial and make it a video, and of course... as everyone want to be the first one it ends with 100 videos of the same glitch.

Conclusion: people itself is preventhing this game from growing up. More than console limitations, game limitations or network limitations (another problems too) the main problem is and will be the community. After thinking about it, Rockstar finally has a stable game, adding new features will release the glitching chaos again. It's just my input and hope it can be discussed.

Well, there certainly is no doubt that the GTA0 community is sh*t. Rockstar did their job, making a game that was just compelling enough to get the esteemed members of the community to spend their $60 on GTAV rather than their next hit of beer, booze, drugs, cigs, porn, or Vaseline. With this community, it's hard to imagine that anything could be accomplished while pandering to them, other than a game where they can troll and grief with impunity. And they do.

Vaseline...ahaha. Anyway. I think this game has delivered on what I paid for it..how much more could you really expect for 60 bucks?

I love how people always blame CoD. I've played most of the CoD games and never had a problem with the other players but in GTA it's a different story. About 75% of the player base in this game does nothing but bitch and cry about everything. It's easy to blame somebody else instead of looking in the mirror and realizing you are the problem.

Not even close, not me at least. All I'm saying is that ourselves are leading this long-time project from Rockstar to a hill. A huge one.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I did, did you read, right? I'm only blaming the biggest part of the community about it and I think I explained my reasons. The problem is that there are a lot of fanboys too... just because I'm not throwing roses on any side that doesn't mean I'm bitching.

Completely agree.

Freemode was suppose to be an open world MMORPG with lots of activities, character progression and various dynamic elements.

What we currently have is a constant Deathmatch with explosives and assault shotguns. People griefing each other in every way possible. People exploiting the game and youtubers promoting it's own self corruption. An easily pleased crowd of immature people and children.

People obsessing over K/D ratios and refusing to do anything creative such as capture modes, stunting, co-op and cruising.

The entirety of GTA:O seems as if it's in BETA mode and it's community wants it to stay that way so Rockstar decided to keep it as it is. Broken.

Totally agree. I think that Rockstar cut a lot of activities because people would be using them only to exploit the game. Many people keep saying "go get friends and cruise/stunt/play captures" but that is not the point at all, the game is played to meet people, try to do something creative in freemode and someone will come with an RPG ready to blow everything. This is the first time I need to join a forum in order to meet people to play the game.

Rock star made a great game. But they could not predict how ppl will play. Now they have to adjust their plans simple as that

Simple things to make this game more fun:

- 4 Player Tennis

- 4 Player Shooting Range

- Turn Off HUD Option when Hosting a job. Imagine you can't see your map/minimap and you actually have to look and watch your back.

- Explosive Restricted Freemode Option. People chasing you in their car & shooting at you with their gun instead of tossing sticky bombs.

- Cops'n Crooks, Turf War and Mafia Work brought back from GTA IV.

- Rockstar removing all fake 1.000.000 $$$ Deathmatches and banning it's makers from using the Creator.

- Balancing Weapons such as nerfing the Assault Shotgun and allowing us to hold 2 (non-automatic) pistols in each hand.

- Balancing Cars such as buffing the Bullet, Voltic, Infernus, Vacca in the Super Class in order for them to compete. More race car choice.

- Allowing us to use all options in Los Santos Customs such as changing vehicle versions (Stallion with a Hard Top, Vinyl Roof or Topless)

- Reducing AI accuracy and removing their X-ray vision.

- Mounted Combat MGs applied to the back of the Duster. Aerial 2v2 dog fights that don't kill the planes in one hit (explosives)

Adding more variety to Freemode such as:

- At random times the train will be filled with cargo boxes and Merryweather security. You'll be able to team up with your friends or randoms (like Gang Attacks) and storm the train thus robbing it of it's supplies.

- Re-enforcing Fort Zancudo. Adding the new Gurkha trucks (The ones in the Heist Trailer) patrolling the Fort with soldiers handling the mounted machine guns. Imagine being pursued by soldiers firing their mounted cannons at you as you speed through the runway. Fort Zancudo needs to live up to it's name.

- World Events such as at a random time and day, the Life Invader offices would open and they would be protected by Noose officers guarding a kill target inside the building. You would have to fight your way in and assassinate the protected AI.

- Siege Events: Much like in Red Dead Redemption. A building would open and who-ever stays in there the longest, claims it as he gains money and RP in the end. You'd have to defend it against people as the bar fills up. Buildings such as the Merryweather Docks, Raven Meat Factory, Cluckin Bell Chicken Factory etc.

- Legal Freemode Missions such as Taxi Driving, Ambulance Driving, Police Vigilante, Firefighter etc. Possibly added in Freemode lobbies with the HUD forcefully turned off. You wouldn't know if the person driving the ambulance is either an AI or a player.

- Finally. The Casino.

*Drops Mic*

i don't see how the comunity can be responsible for false advertising by *R

- they promised heists but failed to deliver

- they promised an evolving online world but all the construction sites across town look abandoned

- the casino wich has a sign that says opening soon is still closed after more than a year

- the stock market still offline so no chance of making it big or breaking even.

sorry to say but they only have themselves to blame.

I do agree with some of your ideas but the Lifeinvader and siege idea don't really make a whole lot of sense once realised in gameplay, yeah I see where you're kinda going but why in the hell would somebody seek refuge in a social media HQ or why should I get money for storming a chicken factory?

concept vs reality...

op you mention the world R* envisioned in their gtao trailer, that was a concept and im damn sure they knew this game wont live up to that concept. i doubt a game that revolves around crime, in which the users have access to a lot of guns would playout as peaceful as they showed on that trailer.

like in any game or software, every update or addition open the door for new glitches, thats a part of computer coding that would probably exist forever.

the game had some glitches that were exploited to max, but on the bright side, everyone that participated of those glitches helped made the game more stable. hence the almost glitch-free version on newgen.

its easier to blame the community for R* own stupidity.

anyway, people tend to say that we have the worst community and i disagree.

i think every game community get shaped around the game and it content, for the type of game we are playing, i feel the community fits perfectly!

By the way, I totally think the game was worth 60 bucks. I was just commenting on the nature of the community and their budgetary priorities. :p

For me, GTAV cost me the equivalent of 3 pizzas and has given me hundreds of hours of appreciation of its beauty and it's intrinsic gameplay and vehicles and world physics. Note that I did not include my experiences in GTA0 free-roam as part of that appreciation :) The pizzas would have only given me about 30 minutes of nice greasy pepperoni satisfaction. So, yeah, 60 bucks, it's good :^:

It was quick thinking. If taken into consideration and analyzing all optimal interiors, there would be some with potential to make said events.

There's the Burton Police Station, The Refinery, Power Station etc.

An important mafia deal perhaps. The Noose taking over an important crime scene. Something important.

They should charge for all future DLC and release more of it in a steady stream. They should also charge monthly subscription to reduce the amount of under 18s playing the game and again help pay for more DLC more often.

I've never glitched. Worst I've done is accidentally dupe an Asea when switching my character to compare it with a Premier, as the wiki called the Asea the Premier's little brother lol. Only reason it duped was because I was showing someone in my garage the Asea, which I won through the tutorial before it was available to buy. They were able to take the duped Asea so not all bad.

People obsessing over K/D ratios and refusing to do anything creative such as capture modes, stunting, co-op and cruising.

some of us stunt quite regualrly, theres a growing crowd here on gtaf that are regualrly getting together to stunt... and many crews do have friendly only sessions for crusing and stuff, but public lobbies seem to attract the "no consequences k/d loving greifer" types... what your lookign for does exist in the gtao community, its just behind closed doors to proitect against the very people your talking about...

but comepltely PVE lobbies (i.e no friendly fire against other players) would change that mentality... if when you join a public session you had the option of pvp, as it is now, or PVE where no player can kill another player, youd see alot more of the above stuff.

Also "no cops" "perma-noon" "no traffic" lobbies would all make a huge difference

agree that the old style taxi, ambulance, fire truck and vigelante missions should return in full force.... they kept previous offline GTA's alive for me for endless hours...

casino would be awesome to win and lsoe cash, creating that ever elusive "economy" that rockstar often pipe on about

R* gave you and your friends/crew the ability to design your own session and play however you like.

You, and others of the same opinion, are just mad you can't force every body else to play the way that you do :miranda:

Here's another clue, when you start a b*tch and moan list and your 1st idea is that you think we need doubles in Tennis.... maybe you should rethink the whole list....

^ Perfect example of the people limiting this game.

Check his signature. Cars glitched. Passive Mode players killed. 9.00 K/D ratio? Probably used god mode.

Another degenerate trying to derail topics into the B*tch & Moan section.

It's obvious that the people ruining the game with constant griefing and glitching want it to stay the way it is.

I don't give a rat's ass to defend Rockstar, but just trying to make justification here:

First, we no need to talk about Heist. I guess we all know how bullsh*t it is. And whatever the truth behind it, we won't know as we're not working in R*.

However, Casino wasn't promised to be in. I know the sound files were in the disc, but if it's cut, then it's cut.

Evolving online world means (as what I get from what they advertised) the continuous updates to the contents, instead of advancing time and environmental progression. The time frame is static - it is 3 months before GTAV event.

About the appearance of f*ckface players in the community, you really can't say about it. Rockstar created freedomtown there. Even during GTAIV Free Mode days, everytime I met cool guys in Free Mode and we fight cops together, there must be a pest inside - be it modder or not. That's online public mode dilemma.
