Let me explain...

 

I used to be a Halo player... that's the main reason of getting an Xbox 360 and for almost five years I never stopped playing Halo, it was my main entretainment. Of course, from time to time I got different games and spent days finishing them, but at the end I always ended coming back. Actually, thanks to Halo is how I met a very close friend and maybe that's why is a dear game to me.

 

However, with the time passing and its community falling apart the game wasn't the same anymore. I stopped playing in my Xbox since that game wasn't the same anymore, by that time the trailer of GTA Online appeared and I said: damn, that looks awesome, so I pre-ordered GTA V.

 

Recently talking with said friend after watching footage of The Master Chief Collection we came to the conclusion of not coming back because the nostalgia, because like she said "we're going to hit ourselves when we find that it won't be the same fun we used to have", so for me that gaming era (my favorite) it's over and I don't feel like touching those games again, my limited editions will stay there gathering dust as a nice set of memories.

 

 

 

All of that led me to think if this has happened to someone else. So, in short... has GTA Online stopped from your former favorite game at the point you wonder if you're ever coming back? Like your favorite shooter, RPG, MMO, racing or sports game...

Yup, I pretty much stopped playing all my other games since I got GTAO

For a while yes, but then I realized my backlog would only get worse, so I stopped playing GTAO on my PS4 and went back to my other consoles to finish the games I have on there. I still hop on to play GTA with my friends, but not as much as I did when I first got the PS4.

I used to be a big fan of GTA 4 until GTA 5 came out with GTA Online. All the memories I had of GTA 4 vanished completely at the instant I started playing GTA 5 and the two hours I had to wait for it to download.

I basically only played GTAO for the best few months,I also ONLY play Metal Gear and GTA games,once MGSV TPP is out I will stop playing GTAO for a while.

Watchdogs, had to 100% it. The hacking in that game had me hooked from the start, other than that just recently just bought The Evil Withi! Pretty interesting game, reminds me of a "new" Resident-Evil 4. I really wish I could find my copy of Pay-Day 2 to play legitimate Heists, that game was the bees-knees!

I stopped playing Skyrim and Fallout. Will stop playing GTA:O when a sequel to either of those comes out. These are the only 3 franchises i play anymore.

no but i stopped playing gta online after playing saints row the 3rd for the 1st time last week. after a little more than a year of playing gta v its just not fun anymore. i'm sick of listening to teenagers talk sh*t back and forth like they believe they are really in the streets. i'm sick of squeakers. i'm sick of nonparticipant freeroamers. the gamers are the reason gta online isn't fun. after playing a game with real arcade fun like saints row the third its hard to go back to a game that has an art imitating life motif. that goes for all gta's except for the 3d generation.

My ps3 entirely.

 

Though it could be more due to lack of space on my tv stand to accommodate the PS4 and PS3.

 

However on my PS4 I have MGS GZ, AC4, Watch Dogs, NBA 2k14, Destiny, and of course GTA. Its 70% GTA O and 20% MGS GZ. 10% GTAV

i played nothing but GTA V for the first 12 months since the day it was released. now i want to play fallout and skyrim but i cant because my PS3 died. i will go back to them when i get another PS3. i have no idea when the next ones will be released on PS4 so i have to go back to the old ones. or i could play PS1 or PS2 games until then. GTA online is getting boring now

i stopped playing everything because of gta in general.

 

back in the late 90's used to play Age of Empires and Rainbow Six all the time then i discovered GTA...

 

i managed to play AoE some time later after finishing gta1 and gta 2 more than20 times.

 

then came gta 3 which i played repeatedly til vice city, which i played repeatedly til San Andreas which i played repeatedly til IV came out which i played exclusively til september 2012 when modders pushed me away from the online.

 

while i was away from IV i managed to play MLB The Show, LA Noire and other games, then came V and GTAO which have killed all other games for me.

From October 2013 to august 2014 ( mind you there were breaks) I was mostly playing gta online. I finished all the games I brought or got during that period of time. Now I only play gta online for a few hours when there is an update. From august 2014 to today, I don't think I spent 20 hours in gta online. I spend more time on this forum than playing the game.
