Your Race Settings

Recommended Posts

When hosting a race, what are the settings you select on the lobby menu before starting?

My settings are:

-Standard Race (not a big fan of GTA race mode)

-Usually 1-3 laps, depending on how big the track is.

-I don't really care about time or weather, but if it's a scenic route race, then the weather is clear to the noon time.

-Any vehicle class used (mostly sports, muscles, bikes, sedans, and compacts. I get bored of the super class quickly.)

-Traffic is on if it's a street race. Traffic is off if it's a closed-circut race like a GP race.

-I don't care about the wanted level, I've never seen players actually attract cops in a race with the setting set to on.

-Catchup is ALWAYS off.

-Slipstream is a so-so.

Post your race settings below when hosting a race.

Your settings are decent.

I commend you on leaving Traffic ON and Catchup OFF. These make the race actually feel like a race for me.

Slipstream is ON, so that those that have no chance of winning can work on unlocking the rest of their paints if they haven't already.

Never GTA, If the lobby is full of people ramming then Non Contact.

Usually +1 or 2 the default amount of laps. (More Money/RP)

Clear/Noon

Traffic always Off (I don't want others to suffer if my connection lags out and the traffic goes haywire for whatever reason. I also appreciate the same back)

Wanted off (As above it doesn't have an effect but it usually defaults to off anyway so its not a problem)

Customs On

Catchup Off

Slipstream Off (Its the main reason for massive pileups at the start)

Everything depends on the track.

Catch up always off.

Traffic on if its a boring easy race.

Asian... oh, you meant the other race. Well, most of the time I just stick with whatever is standard for a given race with only a few exceptions:

Non-contact with random players. There is always at least one guy who misinterprets "rubbing is racing" as "every race is a stock car crash challenge".

I like to choose a less frequent vehicle class every now and then.

Wanted level always off unless I really want to go with an overall street racing theme.

Catchup is a stupid mechanic. Always off.

Slipstream depends. Off is often better since its effect is too strong. But on the other hand I do not want to stand between other players and their unlocking lava red. ;)

FrugalDangerMan
  1. Standard race
  2. non-contact
  3. catch up off (if non contact is not an option)
  4. slip stream off (if non contact is not an option)
  5. traffic on if street course, off if circuit (as noted above by Mr. Fappington)
  6. Cops...on? I mean, if it makes the pay out better sure, if not, why bother...
  7. NO CUSTOM VEHICLES.

Why no customs? Because I already have every possible upgrade and it's unfair/scares away new racers.

I want a level playing field for everyone racing.

I want a level 5 to have the same chance of wining as me at level 235.

Everyone has the same car options and with non-contact, you win with SKILL, not douchbaggery.

Skill people, SKILL. Races won with skill are truly worthy of praise. Wanna be an a**hole? Fine, go host your own race. Going to race with me? You play by my rules.

Don't like my terms? I have two words for you:

GET BENT!

I prefer to drive on tracks that simulate GP races. I also prefer standard type IF other racers are not playing bumper cars, otherwise non-contact. As a host I start with standard and check how others behave, then change it if necessary. If circumstances are ideal, these are my favorite settings:

Race type STANDARD

Class SPORTS

Laps - 3 or 4 (more/less depending on lap length)

Time of day NOON

Weather CURRENT

Traffic OFF - always

Catchup OFF - always

Slipstream ON (not ideal, dont mind if its off)

I hate gta races. I hate stunt races.

I ALWAYS do non contact unless its with a few people that I trust, and even then I still don't like contact only because of lag. If I get better internet any time soon then I'll turn contact on with my friends because it makes it a lot more competitive.

But my preferred settings for right now are

non contact

3-5 laps

no traffic

customs on my 465 character, off on my 50 character

all classes (except bikes)

no catchup.slipstream EVER

I usually prefer wanted levels on as it gives you a little more RP, but since I use the sidewalk I don't want to get a star because I hit some old lady that spawned half a second before I ran her over

Only races I play are with friends. We almost never do supes and only occassionally gta. Generally 1-3 laps, no ketchup, slipstream on, no traffic. I have made a few "grand prix"/"pro-circuit" style road courses that take 45 minutes or more to complete, as the laps are jacked up to the closest to 100 miles without going over.

-Non-contact(don't mind other modes but non-contact is my preference);

-traffic off in enclosed race tracks, on for Street tracks;

-No wanted levels unless it's a GTA race;

-Catch up is ALWAYS OFF;

-Slipstream is ON for long circuits with traffic only;

-I prefer to race with my cars since 13 out of 10 cars of my garages are tuned for Racing, but I appreciate The challenge of Racing with stock vehicles.

EDIT: Yeah, I also like to race the night time with rainy weather.

I strongly avoid any user created-bullsh*t, I deeply hate stunt race maps, because these favors the players who knows the all the stunts.

Prefered class: Sports primary, Supers, Compacts and Muscle coming next.

Standard race

1-4 laps

Noon/clear

Traffic Off

Wanted levels Off

Custom vehicles On

Catchup Off

Slipstream Off

Radio Off by default from pause menu

Same as me except I like variation in weather and time of day, night races in the rain can be a hardcore challenge and visually stunning at the same time.

I like the idea of traffic races but in reality I've been screwed over too many times by NPC drivers at crucial moments. Not good for my blood pressure.
