Why the Comet hate?

I think the Comet handles very well, lots of grip, but you have to be careful about lift-off oversteer and getting on the power too heavily out of corners. There is a reason rear engine cars are almost extinct, they are ass heavy and have "interesting" handling as a result. The Comet is very realistic about that, I think. You just have to understand the physics of it and adapt.

Besides buses? lol Probably just the Bifta and Dune Buggy.

Surprisingly, with a set of off road tires on it, it does surprisingly well on unpaved roads as a rally car right up until you lose it, then it's a bitch to get moving again. I'd murder one of your babies for a racing livery option on this car.

Personally I love driving the thing and its actually one of the few cars which I LIKE the look of a big wing-style spoiler on...

In GTAV it has an awful lot of tail whip, even more than IV. Practice on the winding backroads and you'll have no problem winning the Sports races.

How is it remotely like a real life Porsche? Porsche's have always been known to be circuit cars with amazing handling, not to mention that the GT3's now have 4 wheel steering. I mean if you wanted you could make a Porsche go sideways but they've always been known for their abilities on the track.

 

OT: Nobody hates the comet its just not to many peoples favorite. Its basically a neutral car for most I guess. Its definitely in my top 5 though.

For the people complaining about the Comet's handling, they must have never driven a 80's or 90's Porsche: extreme acceleration (especially the 911 T and TT models) coupled with equally extreme handling.

They didn't always have great track handling, the 993 and 930 were particularly prone to lift-off over-streer and under-steer.

I fcking love this car. Seriously, it has wicked performance and is often underestimated in terms of its abilities. It sounds really nice and can pull off a lot of different colour schemes too. I just prefer the sleeker, better sounding, faster 4WD GTA IV version.

If you insist upon having this argument:

 

It's not remotely a GT3, as the GT3 is NA and the Comet is turbocharged. It would be, if anything, the GT2.

 

Second, the Porsche 911 has always been renowned as a tail happy car that's trying its hardest to kill everyone in it. They are prone to spinning out due to the rear drive, rear engine design. This is also what gives them their handling, as you learn how to work in the inherent instability of the car into turning.

I see it the same as I see Porsches in real life: I have a lot of respect for them and I think they are quality cars, they just aren't my style and I'd choose something else.

 

The wing on it doesn't bother me all that much though, and I actually kinda like that you can make it pretty close to a racing model with the roll cage, splitter with dive planes, and oversized rear wing.

Honestly, the Comet is one of the most beautiful vehicles in the game, hands down..

 

I just wish we could remove the spoiler that comes stock and or replace it with the lip spoiler from IV. When I owned a Comet in GTAO, I modeled it after a GT3 RS
