Hardcore Mode

Recommended Posts

Almost every other shooter has a mode like this, you think this could work on GTA?

I mean, how nice would be if:

- 1 headshot kills, from any gun

- 2 or 3 shots on the body, from AR/MG or sub MGs and pistols, respectively, also depending on body armor and helmet.

- Map activated so you could use GPS but no one shown on that

- Very limited weaponry and ammo, no bullet count, just mags. Something like 1 AR/MG or sniper rifle, 1 pistol, 2 or 3 grenades or explosives.

- And especially, no TAGS over the head with names and nothing that could reveal a player. Imagine you could just walk by like any other NPC. Some cars and clothes could reveal you, but that would be your problem.

Obviously this could be boring on a huge map, but they could motivate you with serious cash rewards for bounties (i.e. Psycos with a US 25k and more reward by the police) or maybe a lester service to track people, not in real time but an update like every 5 secs whatever, just like they do in RL by mobile triangulation.

The problem would be that the players would never find eachother. The map is just too huge.

Uses Lester's bility to reveal and track Down players for a minute, if it's a friend then Just text or call him/her and there you go.

The Idea with The bounties sounds interesting, but then these bounties should be very rare to come up or else it would defeat The purpose of playing missions for cash

Sounds good man... I push for hardcore mode so much on here. here are a few things I would add/change

-Blips set to far, Still Lester will be extrememly usefull for close enemies

-Ragdoll by Pain, experience ragdoll whenever shot just like NPCs. checkout my mod http://www.gta4-mods.com/script/player-euphoria-ragdoll-by-pain-f30559

-NPC Accuracy should be toned down.

I play Hardcore on IV PC all the time, it gives such a rush that kinda makes V dull without it.

The thing is not many people would play that mode. So it would be a waste.

I think you would be surprised.

Hardcore mode tends to attract a different class of player.

Its why I play hardcore no map on BF3, much better for strategic play. Also more fun.

Why not give us the options?

Yes you can do it within a closed lobby with trustworthy people, but a matchmaking system with the options would be better.

Do you remember gta 4 online? In case you haven't played that, that's why. We had load of options to choose from and it made it worst giving us so many options. I do feel we should have different type of lobbies but I don't see hard-core being that popular with such a huge map.

Your average console user (and this is NOT coming from a PC snob - I've never owned a gaming rig in my life) needs their hands holding all the time. This is why all consoles games are littered with invasive HUD elements; maps, ammo count, player blips, objective markers, button prompts, while 99% of PC games come with an option to turn all the HUD off.

Granted, GTA V does have a HUD off option (I'm delighted to say) but you could count on the fingers of one hand the number of players that disable it in this game.

That's why DayZ (if it ever hits the console) will be nothing like the PC version. Watch any gameplay from that game and the difference in mentality between them and your average GTA player is massive. People don't shoot on sight (unless given no option), they watch players from afar and behind cover to see what they're doing. If they think that player has anything of value, they'll ambush him and demand he hands over his possessions.

I fear DayZ on the console would be nothing more than GTA with zombies.

However, to get BOT, I would love to see a real hardcore mode... just so long as it's all out. It would need to be all or nothing.

this is all cool and whatever but then you are just trying to find ways to make your freeroam battles more interesting

freeroam is more than hunting other players to kill

deathmatch, team deathmatch, hardcore deathmatch

segregation is the worst thing a multiplayer game could have, and I use the example of an assisted aimer attempting free aim as a prfect example. The assisted aim player expects the game to do certain things for them that arent in free aim...assuming assisted aim is the default preferred, splitting that player base would insure failure of a hardcore mode being unbeneficial to put any effort into. The game is segregated enough already.

Hard to find players?

We all know where the LSC and Ammunations are.

Just follow the sound of the explosions.

This sounds like grounded mode on TLoU. You are going to die... A lot. People are going to be paranoid.

The problem would be that the players would never find eachother. The map is just too huge.

I have no problem with that. 439 days and I know every corner of this map than my own neighbourhood. Lol Edited by AhmadMJamal

Playing the 'almost every other Shooter has it' card isn't fair in this type of situation. GTA is not setting out to be a Shooter, and it certainly isn't. You can clearly see by the array of weapons and their names. Just because a game involves shooting doesn't mean that it's a Shooter. Also it would be incredibly boring as no one would find each other. Ever.

I see more than just enhanced PVP gameplay in a Hardcore mod, PVP IMO could probably do without a Hardcore mode and be just fine

but Balancing Players with the AI would make things more exciting all around.

The AI can be challenging but the current system feels off. I still feel like a robot vs the NPC. we eat shells and just flinch em off... To compensate for this, the AI have robotic aim.

and people are not satisfied with the OP AI, but lower their accuracy and the game is a true cakewalk

- 1 headshot kills, from any gun

- 2 or 3 shots on the body, from AR/MG or sub MGs and pistols, respectively, also depending on body armor and helmet.

Please dont, that just doesnt work in GTA V, if it was like MP3 maybe, but no it wont work here.
GTA V animation system is slow, and then you make people squishy... One headshot kills by rapid fire weapons in GTAV are already a totally retarded feature. Please dont.

- Map activated so you could use GPS but no one shown on that

A tagging system similar to Battlefield would work perfectly with that. Yes.

- Very limited weaponry and ammo, no bullet count, just mags. Something like 1 AR/MG or sniper rifle, 1 pistol, 2 or 3 grenades or explosives

It will be interesting, but youll have to remove 60 bullet mags, i would honestly erase them from the game altogether. MP3 had a very awesome weight system.

- And especially, no TAGS over the head with names and nothing that could reveal a player. Imagine you could just walk by like any other NPC. Some cars and clothes could reveal you, but that would be your problem.

Considering the tagging system i already mentioned, you should be able to tag NPCs and there wouldnt be any visible difference between tagged players or tagged NPCs.

With a 30 player cap i guarantee you, people will bump into each other frequently, Los Santos is a relatively small city.

I like this idea, maybe if R* could finally scrap auto-aim mode, and then make free-aim mode the new normal mode, and this be the hardcore mode (just like any other shooter).

But it will never happen :( (Maybe someone will mod the PC version? i dont think R* will accept modded servers... But maybe trough Steam.)
