Is it too late to play GTA Online if you are a Level 1?

It's not too late, but unless you have friends that play be prepared to get kicked from a lot of jobs. Anytime I see a level 5 join ( even if it is a level 5 job ) without fail the person hosting kicks them. I don't understand that philosophy at all because every time I am playing and someone just sits there and lets everyone carry them through the mission they are never a very low level. Normally 40-80 are the people that just sit around and refuse to help. Also, 9 times out of 10 it is someone starting another new character and they are well versed in the game.

It's never too late to start from zero. Try to improve your shooting skills and get good at it, learn to use the right guns in the right situations. Team deathmatches are fun and you can earn a lot of money with them, provided that you win them more often than not. Survivals work too, but the harder ones will require good skills, and you have to keep in mind that you burn a lot of ammo, so there is that.

It's also worth to note that joining a crew will help. You get more RP from doing activities with other crew mates, not to mention that you have the chance to play missions that aren't available until you've reached a much higher rank (Trash Talk, for example, is pretty easy but not available until rank 81). It's not too hard to rank up either- I put 140 hours into GTAO so far, spent a bunch of it on free roam and am rank 80 at the moment.

not guilty. in fact i hosted blow up 3 with a low level player today and gave her my tank to do the mission with. she wasnt high enough to unlock the mission but at least she now knows what will happen

@Quinnflower, Yea it takes a while to be rich and own everything you want. Im playing Gta O since the first day and im lucky the modders gifted me billions. Im rank 300+ now with only 1.3million lol. But i do have everything i want. I just play missions now and spend all my cash on cars.

For some reason i cant quote you....

I've been playing since launch, and my main character is level 185. I was fortunate to play through the SA State Lottery scandal, and the rash of missing hookers and fancy car days, so I never really wanted for money. However, I started a second character, and I have way more fun ranking up again from level 1 when you have level locks you want to achieve. After level 120 there isn't a lot of purpose to rank up, it just becomes a grind, though it's still lots of fun, you just have different reasons to play instead if ranking up.

So definitely not too late, and with heists coming you will have even more reasons to play and rank up. It doesn't take long either - just playing a couple hours a day, doing random missions, selling cars, and collecting bounties, I made over $1,000,000 in less than a week.

It took my female character around a month to go from rank 1-120. Follow what everyone else has said and keep doing jobs. Don't waste your time in free roam deathmatches.

Take our advice, and you'll be a high level with a decent amount of money by the time heists come out. ;)

i'd say now its a perfect time to start...

unlike the early days, new players now have access to good weapons right from the very beginning.

apart from that, money and rp comes easier now too

so go ahead.

Get yourself a friend to spawn a gold Dubsta2 for you and have him explain to you what that is and why that is useful. After that, use that Dubsta2. Also, join higher ranking players on their missions and hang back a bit letting them do their thing. You'll rank up very fast and learn from observing. Once you reach rank 19 start selling sadtromboneratloaders. I have a character rank 22 with 4 million in the bank using this exact tactic.

don't buy a super car, get a free Elegy and upgrade it for racing...

Very bad idea you will lose

The Elegy is the best in its class lol

This. I usually win in the Elegy (provided I don't get rammed into last place), and when I do people are often surprised and want to know what car it is, or didn't realize it was as good as it is. Plus it handles superbly, once you get use to it.

Doing the RatLoader thing 400 times for 4 Mil is not nearly as enjoyable as having a blast doing missions and races, and honing your skills. That plus selling a Sad Trombone Dubsta2 every 48 mins is the way to go.

Elegy is a great car if you can master it right, but crash hard once and its handling gets greatly affected

On topic no its not too late, ranking up is easy especially in the beginning. If you like racing i can help you with it since its one of the fastest ways to rank up in the game, but i wont be online on gta for a while because reasons

Hello. New to GTA Online (never played it before because I played Red Dead Redemption religiously before modders took it over and broke the multiplayer aspect of the game). I was just wondering if it's too late to make a character and play GTA Online?

Any tips on making money fast and what specific vehicles to own and not own? Thanks

Stopped playing IV Multiplayer because there was nothing to prove anymore. Smacking kids in multiplayer on that game got old after a while.

Why would it be too late? There are thousands of people who are still low levels and thousands who haven´t even started playing online yet,so why wouldn´t you play just because you haven´t already?

To make money fast do missions,do races(preferably solo races if you´re not good at racing),rob stores, rob armored trucks, sell vehicles to LSC,deliver vehicles to Simeon, you can also get $2000 frequently for being a good sport...My advice is to make money in invite only sessions, that way nobody can get in your way while you are robbing a store, delivering a vehicle or something else. Also always deposit money, that way you don´t loose it when you get killed.

It depends on what will be your style of playing(if you like racing you will need competitive vehicles,if you like to play with friends you will need vehicles with big passenger capacity...),but in general there is no vehicle that you should or shouldn´t own.Just get what you like.

Given you can now start with (among other things):

- Special Carbine/Bullpup Rifles

- Homing Launcher

- Proximity Mines

- Marksman's Rifle

When those of us whom started at launch were stuck with just a Pistol at Rank 1, you should have no trouble getting going. Just play some Missions (as you will also get Paid better than before for Lower Ranked Missions) to afford the better Weaponry and in no time you will not feel like you are at much of a Burden compared to Higher Ranked Player's.

On PS4/Xbone, otherwise pointless if you do not like Modders.

Pro-tip:

When you get a wanted level of 2 or more stars, equip or unequip a mask or glesses when you're not in sight of cops, and your wanted level will drop 1 star, this will come in handy when you get cop choppers on you. Note, this only works when youre not in a car with someone else, only when alone.

Its never too late. Just save up for a carbine rifle for long range, AP pistol for drive bys, and assault shotgun for close range, things will get easier when thats aqcuired.

it's not too late

find a modder and give him a handy under the table

I just started playing in September so it's never too late. Find a good, active crew to join; you'll get money and RP bonuses when you do missions with them. Grab yourself a free Elegy and upgrade it. Avoid confrontations and wars, they tend to lose you a lot of money and ammo. And most importantly, have fun. GTA isn't meant to be about grinding all the time or raging over someone that took your bounty. As long as you're having fun and playing the way you want, you're golden.

I started playing on my level 15 2nd character again, you know usually when I lose a race due to people running me off the road I contain my anger because I don't need the money but I have been absolutely losing my sh*t on my 2nd character since I need the money/upgrades/rp

I mean I have my no upgrades adder bond winning a race by a large stretch because I can drive, and here comes a chrome zentorno that ate sh*t several times in the race zoomin into me, not by me, because he can't share the lead with anyone.

Edited by CrysisAverted

Starting with cars you can definitely get the Elegy as a freeby, one of the best sports cars. But you will also need a Zentorno, because sadly, the majority of races are in super cars and that car (Zentorno) is the best in the class, plus it has a bulletproof back which comes in real handy in freeroam.. Also buy a 10 car garage, not necessarily an apartment, a garage is plenty for starters..

Also definitely get all the weapons from ammunation. You'll be able to use the Special Carbine and it's one of the best assault rifles in the game, plus the Homing Launcher, since you can't unlock an RPG yet and the HL is so much better because it locks onto vehicles, no more annoying Buzzard helicopters or jets.. The only downside is that the ammo is pricey for the launcher..

Do a lot of contact missions if you want to rank up and earn money with some races and maybe a deathmatch or two in between for the spice of variety and some car mod unlocks (note you have to come in first place for it to count towards a mod unlock a specific times depending on the mod).

Also try to get the modified Dubsta ( http://gtaforums.com/topic/758853-ps4-golden-dubsta/) tosell with the Los Santos Customs horn glitch for 36k every 50 something minutes

Be careful in freeroam, most of the time people ain't friendly :D

This I think sums up your average GTA online player

GTA Online is one of the few MMO's that joining late is not a bad thing, as long as you're smart. Many people have pointed out great ways to improve, so I won't repeat them, but will note that when I started my second character in June it gave the game a breath of fresh air. The other thing I would say is, do what you want to do, but keep an open mind for other things in the game. I wasn't sure I'd like Golfing, but it's my favorite thing to do when I don't feel like doing anything real (mostly because I am still hunting for that Hole-in-one).

You don't need a Zentorno, get a Turismo, its the best price/performance Super you can currently buy

it's never too late, just be sure you be careful becuase if your in a public session there's a good chance a higher level player will try to kill you.

also get a 9f and fully upgrade it, even though it's listed as a sportscar when it's fully upgraded and can keep up with some supercars pretty easily and outrun some of them.
