Punishing Inactive Mission Teammates

Recommended Posts

Re haul the entire system? Are you serious? It's probably a matter of changing a few numbers in the games coding lol. And if an actual emergncy comes up while you're playing, making money in GTA is the least of your concerns. Turn off your console. I think five minute timer is more than enough. You got enough time to take a quick dump and cook a Hot Pocket before you get kicked.

So you are a game coder now? Send your resume to Rockstar and implement your great idea.

Making money would be the least of my concerns but why should I be punished if I had just joined a mission and had to tend to something? It could be as simple as cleaning up a broken glass or spilt food but why should I be punished for being AFK for a minor period? Do I have to turn my console off every time I want to pee?

There's no need for anything. An average mission would take 8-10 minutes and people are so worked up that a player was AFK for that period we need to change things. Whoop dee do they got a free payout of virtual currenancy.

Keyword: Probably. That implies that it may or may not be an issue of simple coding, but it probably is. Lol.

People going afk leeching off others is happening way more as opposed to real issues preventing someone from participating in a mission for more than 5 minutes.

You're so concerned with a few outlying instances that might happen rather than an issue that is occuring on a very frequent basis. Every few lobbies for me.

What's the big deal with you missing out on one mission from being kicked?

Whoop dee do you missed out on one payout of virutal currency. Go join another mission and make it up then.

Everybody agrees that there are legitimate reasons to be AFK. Families, bathroom, sandwich emergencies, etc etc... But regardless of whether you had a legitimate reason, if you didn't contribute to the mission, you don't deserve to be getting paid.

I'd be all for a boot after 5 min system. No further punishment than that. No BS points or anything like that.

I just don't understand how a AFK player affects you so much. A player who is AFK gets the same pay as you? Wow, you will probably never see that player again after leaving this mission. At least they aren't running into a mission, dying within 30 seconds and sitting on the sidelines or wasting a life.

Then again, I do understand. It's the same community that sees someone passive as a massive target to kill cause they aren't playing how YOU want them to play.

Ya it's a very immature attitude... especially in 90% of the missions where you don't need extra players in the first place

Coveted used to be the mission to go AFK, have a smoke, get a drink.... as long as you get back by the voting screen who cares

Trying to make sure everybody gets treated fair is something most of us out grew by the time we were 18.

I'm a pretty polite player. I'll take the BS points for leaving mid event.

But sometimes life happens. The parents, wife, kids, pizza guy.

Please don't make another bad feature like rockstar did with BS.

Sometimes it just happens.

And how do you tell what's going on with the afk?

So your wife lets you play GTA while the kids are running around the house??? Pretty irresponsible TBH. My wife would clip me round the ears... Maybe even take me power chords LMAO.

OT.

If you know there may be a chance you would be interupted then just cruise around in free roam searching for vehicals to sell. Its not rocket science. If you know you have 20 minutes spare then jump in if not then dont. I play a lot of games with this feature and its never been an issue what so ever.

When I would get kicked I just /camp anyway so I get logged and a new player takes my placve within 30n seconds. No harm no foul and then I can just do whatever because by the time i get back its only like 10 mions until debuff is gone and youre free to do what ever you want

Wow. You forgot the pizza guy and my parents in your critique of my parenting and relationship skills.

FYI kids are in college. Wife likes me playing rather than bothering her. Pizza guy likes my tips. Parents will be moving in soon or getting sent to the farm.

Point remains. Life happens. We shouldn't be punished.

Still deciding wether to give a like for your feeble attempt at a Dumb Guy retort.

Pizza guy is just stupid. You know you orderrd pizza why are you playing a TEAM BASED job while you know you will be interupted?

Point remains you shouldnt be playing if you dont have 15 minutes to spare, not rocket science.

PS. Call me whatever you want mate. my internet feels are made of steel. Not even mad

What did I call you? Do you have reading comprehension skills?

Point remains.

It's a dumb idea.

Implying is the same thing....

I have a hard time believing you have kids in college. You act like a child in multiple threads if people oppose your opinion and in the rest you just post flamebait or flat out troll.....

AFK auto kick timers are a dumb idea? Better go back to the birth of online gaming and give them the mome because they have been implemented for the last 10 years.

You shouldn't play the game if you know you ordered pizza? Wtf wow lol when I order pizza, it takes about 2 hours to get delivered. Like hell I'm going to sit around and not play because I know I'll be interrupted at some point by the pizza guy

I never sit around AFK but come on, really?

Yeah and you know the appx time he will turn up.

ALSO I didnt say you shouldnt play, Im just saying dont get invovled in team based activities when you know you cant sit still for 15 minutes

Shadowfennekin

Just a timer before they get kicked.

Same goes for the objective in missions like RR. If I join a lobby and get stuck cause it starts right away, I get trapped for 20 minutes waiting for the asshole to come back from Paleto Bay.

How bout we all just hug it out?

Rockstar would just make it worse.

Yall know Im right on this point.

You can basically guarantee any changes will be poorly executed/thought out like almost every other game-play change R* has made so far.

Mental State - People complain Cool-down period is to long. Now the feature is pointless since it resets after doing a Job; R* will not remove it so they have just made it as worthless as possible.

Content Creators - No ability to filter out all the Jobs you do not want to play. $$$ RP RP RP enough said.

On Call - Only good for Missions. Otherwise you can Launch into a Session (without warning) that involves playing a poorly created or unbalanced Race, Capture, LTS or Deathmatch. $$$ RP RP RP enough said.

I could go on, sufficed it to say you can see why I agree with Dumb Guy's reasoning.

Voting on other players' performance after mission completion can work. Running all over the map for 30 minutes after recovering the files in RR? Give him a downvote. Racing to the objective while constantly ramming your ride? Downvote. AFK for no good reason? Downvote.

Yes, trolls may downvote a player who does nothing wrong, but they'd end up with more downs than others in the long run if they continue the dickish behavior. Those with a lot of downvotes (the number is for R* to figure out) get put together in separate mission lobbies.

Some inactive players are sleepers. Just waiting to cash in on your efforts. I let them be and leave the next round. If I am alone with them, I leave immediately.

I do not give other players a ride when I go pick up my buzzard. Nine out of then they steal the buzzard or take away control over the missiles. Some jerkoffs hit on my female avatar and are butt hurt if I leave them cold. So I get sometimes a kick vote.

So they are leeching... big deal. Just go do the mission as though they aren't even there. Who cares?

And if it really bothers you, just run them over and let them spectate. Jeez. It's a pain, but really, it's a game.

Play on, Parcheesi. :)

SImple you go and vote kick them. Message one of the other players and usually they oblige.

I do this too. If I'm going to get my Buzzard and another player gets in my car, I kick them out. I am always happy to go give people a lift but if I"m going to collect my Buzzard, I don't. Cause when they get in they always take control of the missiles and they can't hit sh*t with it.

I like this idea. I don't know if Xbox One has it, but since PS4 records your gameplay automatically R* should be able to request video proof with each down vote. I guess that would be a lot of work on R*'s end... but with how much money they make, they deserve to be put to work so whatever

Just kick them if you can't deal with it or just do your own thing and not worry about it.

1. When you're not the host you can't kick em.

2. It requires at least half the lobby to boot em so it's not that simple.

3. What's the fun in doing missions/jobs all by yourself?

I know for a fact you can kick the host off their own mission.

I have had this happen and it makes me wonder what they are doing, are they still sitting there watching their character not moving? Did they wander off? Go out for a smoke? Or did their game lock up on them? Whatever the reason is I wonder why rockstar doesn't have an idle timer like they do in free roam? No penalties needed then but also no reward, if and when they do return they would be just in SP.

the 13 minute idle is bad enough, but 5 minutes? what are we machines? i need to go to toilet and EAT, should i just sit on my sofa and poop/wee myself just for you tc? jesus.

Well wait for the effing mission to end before you eat while pooping.

Solid Scorpion

It doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would.

More life's for the guys playing and we all still get paid.

I'd rather have someone be afk than fking the mission up or being a troll.

AFK happens, what I don't like is when following that mission they immediately vote and join up for the next and afk again, can't ever seem to convince the rest of the team to kick him for freeloading so I just give a bad player review.

As long as the mission can be completed by myself and/or whoever else is playing, I don't mind idlers. I still get a bigger payout just for them being present and I couldn't care less that they're getting money for nothing since I'm benefiting as well.

JokerSmokerToker

I find just texting the other players to kick the inactive person works just fine.

Only time ive been able to get that to work was when i was playing missions with 2 of my friends, and we booted the random for being a useless twat. More than likely, the people you text are little kids who dont give a sh*t about anything beyond their own character, who dont think about anything other than just being able to play the game, or its someone who doesnt speak/understand a lick of english, while playing a game thats in english lol

AFK happens, what I don't like is when following that mission they immediately vote and join up for the next and afk again, can't ever seem to convince the rest of the team to kick him for freeloading so I just give a bad player review.

best way to find out if someone is a lazy twat is to run them over and see how they react, 90% of the time they will get up and immediately start trying to run to a safe spot.

Can I raise a little point (please forgive me if this is wrong as it is just an observation). As I am aware dead players (idlers or otherwise) get paid. Short of cutting your nose to spite your face you cannot stop layabouts from getting paid. By all means have a go at those in missions like stocks and scares and other missions that require or are more effective with an extra pair of hands but the dead weight still benefits and you must suffer to make them suffer. The only effective means is the kick vote (losing the mission is quicker and just as effective but again you lose too).

AFK is one of the pitfalls of online multiplayer.

Depending on my mood I'll block the mf or shrug it off. It's worse in other games than GTAO when the host or a teammate in a PvP mode go AFK. That right there fks me off. I'll be sending those asswipes a msg highlighting how rude & inconsiderate they are, in as polite a terms as possible of course, & adding them to the block list.

In GTAO yea I tend to run them over. Then send them a msg. Then fail/sabotage the mission.
