Next Rockstar game after RDR2?

The Red Dead sequel won't be this year. My guess is the first trailer for it will be shown later this year though. I think Rockstar's big release this year, other than the PC version of GTAV, will be the big single player DLC for GTA V. Its meant to be huge. Far bigger than either of the GTAIV DLC's. We know thats coming, its just a matter of when.

 

Rumours I've heard but aren't 100% sure about are RDR finally coming to PC and an enhanced version coming to PS4 and XB1. If they're doing the former then I guess they may as well do the latter. They might release that in the run up to any Red Dead sequel to get people back in the mood.

 

No idea about Agent or anything else. Its gone to ground.

I really want R* to move away from the GTA franchise and go back to LA Noire. I know something happened between them and Team Bondi but I have an idea for a spiritual sequel of sorts.

 

I believe that in open world games, past works better than present. For example, Vice City had the ability to take all the most memorable aspects of the 1980s and create a nostalgic yet immersive world. But in games like IV and V (which i both love bear in mind), the jokes, references are what we are experiencing in real life now and can sometimes feel forced and repetitive (V's social media bullsh*t). When we look back in 10 years time, I dont think the themes, mood and atmosphere of V will stand out as much as the orange gangsta haze of San Andreas or the neon pink of Vice City.

 

I think that they should revisit the detective angle, only set in the 1970s. So many great detective/cop/crime movies have a strong 70s feel (Bullitt, Dirty Harry, the french connection) and seeing as the film noir movies of the 30s/40s were the inspiration for LA Noire, I think a 70s styled detective game, set in San Fierro/Las Venturas would be perfect.

Agent could be nice. But I prefer a rdr game. I love Gta V but and Max Payne 3. But the latter found its final conclusion to me. And RDR was the best game Rockstar put out in years.

It's a real shame to see the MC series is done, had a lot of good times with MC3 until my PS2 died.

 

Some people believe in Agent as the next R* title, but it was announced six years ago. They said it was being made by North, and that means it won't come anytime soon, if it wasn't cancelled already. North has been working tirelessly in V for the last five years, and everything else went into a second -or third- plane.

 

A new Red Dead is very likely to happen, but I don't think it will come soon for the same reason. San Diego worked intensely on V too, alongside North and Toronto.

I went with a new Red Dead game to add to the series. I don't see why they wouldn't make a new one and capitalize on it. Red Dead Redemption was a truly amazing game with a hell of a story and the tons and tons of gameplay that was available with all the many activities, R* nailed it with RDR.

Bully it's been nine f*ckin years announce it in the next couple of weeks and release it in the fall this year

I kinda think we might get Agent though or at least an announcement about it

Expect the announcement the latest by June and release in November. If nothing by then, expect no new Rockstar Games this year.

The game was banned in a few countries, the game ended up selling poorly because of the AO rating, and of course caused a lot of controversy which made them censor it heavily.

After the sh*t R* went through, I doubt they'd even think about a Manhunt 3.

The hot coffee mod didn't cause GTA SA to get banned from countries and sell horribly though, yes it got pulled from shelves temporarily but that's all.

As I've already written on my previous comment in this topic, Agent is on top of my wishlist, I love Stealth games, and the game's theme (counter-intelligence, espionage and political assassinations during the Cold War) seems to be really, really interesting! I don't think we will see a new GTA mobile game anytime soon, the PS Vita doesn't sell very well, although Android and iOS do, but talking of GTA, the main focus of Rockstar North is GTAV and GTA Online at the moment.

 

The Manhunt series has a mysterious fate, I'd love to see a new Manhunt game, but we all know what happened when Manhunt 2 has been released. There are some games out there that are way more gruesome than the two Manhunt titles, but I don't think Rockstar Games would take such a risk releasing a game that could be censored right after its launch, but I'm still faithful about it! Too bad we will never see a new Midnight Club game, absolutely the definitive Racing game series!

 

I would love to see a sequel to Oni, I loved that game, and I still play it from time to time. Actually, Take-Two owns the rights to the game, so it wouldn't be something to exclude, but the first one had a conclusive ending, so I'm not sure we would see Konoko again, and an Oni game without Konoko wouldn't be the same. However, I don't think we will ever see it, it would be too similar to Dontnod's Remember Me (which is even considered as a Oni spiritual sequel by the Oni fanbase), and the game's concept doesn't properly reflect Rockstar Games' style, but never say never.

 

NY Noire anyone? I think a new Noire game would work very well, so I'd really like to see it sometime in the future. Even Rockstar is willing to develop a sequel to LA Noire as they said in an Asked & Answered that they "are considering what the future may hold for LA Noire as a series".

 

Anyway, I loved both Red Dead Revolver and Red Dead Redemption, so I think a new title in the series would be a very pleasant surprise. I would really like to play as a Native American, as well, since Shadow Wolf was my favourite playable character in the first game, along with Red of course. Just imagine, two switchable protagonists: a cowboy and a Native American. I think it would be pretty neat, even more if they are against each other!

 

We just have to wait and see what Rockstar Games has in store for us in the future.

O crap that's a great idea for Oni 2. I thought it was mixed up with Bungee, but yeah another futuristic sci-fi IP from R* would be fantastic. Only problem, R* would have to figure out the hand-to-hand combat
