proximity mines and bad sport thread

Recommended Posts

I do like the new prox mine weapon, but I think its ridiculous for anyone to get bad sport, etc. for using something that R* is giving us as a choice for a weapon.

I'm okay with the whole insurance thing though.

Share your thoughts on this. Sorry I didn't include a poll but at least I put "official" in the thread title.

What's official about this? You blow up a certain number of PV's you're going to get bad sport, regardless of whether you use proximity mines, sticky bombs or RPG's just because rockstar implimented it into the game doesn't mean you shouldn't get put into bad sport when they give you plenty of warnings before putting you in there.

I don't go one session without blowing up every super to come near me. I'm a day one player who plays about 4 hours a day and have never been in bad sport. I don't get the coloration you're making between this one weapon and bad sport. People in bad sport deserve to be there.

Any weapon other than melee can be used to blow up a car, so what this boils down to is should Bad Sport exist. Not for me it shouldn't, paying for insurance is enough 'punishment'.

What with Bad Sport for allegedly naughty players and Backstreet Boys on the radio I'm not sure what direction the series is going in.

Let me clarify. What I'm saying is that its very easy blow up a PV with a prox mine. Too easy in fact. I mean, if I just throw one down on the road & keep on driving eventually one will go off & more than likely blow up someone's PV.

Of course you might counter with "don't use prox mines" or something along those lines, but then that goes back to my other point...why are we being given these weapons by R* if using them comes with a penalty of some sort?

Edit: let me also add that I'm like you...I've been playing GTA:O since the beginning & yes I tend to blow up a lot of PVs occasionally (but not always). The part that is not consistent is that I have been in Bad Sport 3 times now. I've never been "reported" by anyone as a griefer and I don't leave jobs early so I can only assume that I got into BS by blowing up PVs. Tell me how this is different than your style of play? It sounds the same to me, so why have I been in BS 3 times now and you zero?

What's official about this?

Topic title edited & the word' Official' removed.

OP, please don't give your topics 'Official' status. You're not qualified to do that.

I never buy the mines. Rip off. Never been in bad sport, but it should be removed from a game for adults.....or used to report kids with mics 'cause they're underaged and clearly the reason why it was added. f*ck your PV I dun giv a sheeet!

Meh, I plant PM at Burton LSC and in front of Eclipse all the time. I blow up 10 or so PV's in the process, pay the insurance, do some missions, repeat. It's all in moderation son...Don't be a giant pig about it, and you won't see bad sport...Just keep checking your clean player status, if it goes dodgy, time to chill with the bombs.

I never go to bad sport. I dont care about the badsport warning if i can kill you and that mean blow up your car i will do it.

but this is exactly how I play the game so tell me how have I been in BS 3 times?

You blow up a sh*t ton of pv's. I have self control and only blow up super cars... I shoot everyone else. As to your other "point" you are aware of the consequences and the weapons and how it all works, it's your decision to make with that information what you will. Continue your play style or adjust.

Great contribution

well, I'm in Bad Sport now for the third time in two months or so. I must say that proximity mines are probably the culprit - whereas before I would blow up a couple of supercars with rpgs (mostly noobs trying to reverse kill me), after mines became available I started blowing up way more cars than before. I realized I got the dodgy player status much more often after they were released. Usually I would stop those freemode battles and do some missions to regain the clean player status, but sometimes one gets distracted/overwhelmed and it's hard to take a break...

I find it utterly ridiculous that we get bad sport for using available weapons. I don't grief, use tanks or jets. I understand that certain players - such as modders (those idiots that keep exploding everyone over and over again) or hardcore jet griefers pose a threat to the rest of the community and should probably play in different servers, but proximity mines and rpgs are legitimate weapons and those of us who use them should not be stigmatized - we already pay the freakin' insurance!

bad sport shouldnt exist... PERIOD!

Well I got in for a 2nd go (deliberately), HOWEVER despite the claims it is easier to get into on repeat offences I am no longer convinced this is the case. As I played as a Good Sport for around 2 months after my first Bad Sport stint (doing 100's of Jobs in these 2 months), it took me just as long to get in. Namely around 30 - 35 PV's destroyed without any Good Sport actions in between.

That said it should not exist, fundamentally since we are only using the Weapons/Tools given to us by R*. You should not be penalized for playing the game.

I killed myself and my friends with a prox mine I planted trying to get a player with a bounty that went to hide in their garage.

The bounty left and we went roaming around the other side of town and when we came back to that road like 10min later BOOM!

good times.. :p

I think it's all bullsh*t if you ask me. Bad sport should only be when enough players sudmit a review on a player, then you do into bad sport. I shouldn't be considered a bad sport if I blow your car up ( that's stupid ) and I shouldn't have to pay any fee. That's like having health insurance on other players, you kill them, you have to pay medical bills?

CrysisAverted

I dropped a bunch of proximity mines right before I finished first in a GTA race killing several people, they started bitching telling me I don't know how to race.
