Vehicle Location Memory Distance

This is out of pure curiosity, but if I take a chopper from a spawn point and land it, for instance, on top of Mount Chilliad, I could then walk a few hundred feet in any direction and the chopper would still be there when I return (even if I lost actual sight of it). But, if you walk too far away from a vehicle, and then return to the spot you left it, it will have disappeared (unless it's your PV).

 

Does anyone happen to know what that max distance is, and if it's greater on current gen?

I think there's other variables to account for other that the distance you mentioned. Also depends for example, if there's other players in the area.

Hes right, I dont know about choppers, I think they have a further max distance

max distance is going to be approx the same as the systems 'draw distance'. if you were going to walk away from a car or chopper, you'd have to walk backward and keep it in view for it to not despawn. there is also a factor of if it was the last car you drove. they tend to stay longer, however cars can despawn right next to you if you look away.
