.Ryan.
While GTA V is huge, it's a little lacking in terms of activities, especially in the criminal area. Why wasn't Vigilante in V again? what a lovely contradiction. Not really sure how this equates to a contradiction. A lot of people come make the assumption when you're a vigilante you're being a cop as you use a cop car to chase down targets, but technically you're breaking the law. Hence why we always get wanted levels doing them. MrDeSanta: Fair enough, but I still stand by my point GTA V needs an infinite crime based side mission in the vein of vigilante missions, drug and gang wars. The Green Sabre
^ Because people find them fun? I swear, restricting or leaving out fun activities just because the characters wouldn't realistically do them sucks. .Ryan., ItsJustMeSrsly and Osho 3 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/764436-gtav-15-years-still-gives-me-wood/page/2/#findComment-1066902056 Share on other sites

Well this logic is kind of flawed my friend. Why would a "crazy" and don't give a sh*t about anything psychopath such as Trevor have any interest in playing golf or tennis? But they're there for him to do regardless. I was never a big fan of the firefighting, paramedic missions etc, but hey a lot of people like them so whatever floats their boat and I wouldn't call vigilante missions a dumb activity since it's something many want to see return. Also you're contradicting yourself saying it's dumb, but awesome. Can't be both. Osho
it's a dumb activity, awesome but dumb, why would ANY gta protagonist would play vigilante/taxi driver/paramedic? those side missions don't make sense and need to be replaced by hitman missions, gang wars, drug smuggling, car robberies and such. They are not dumb. Absolutely not. Vigilante/Paramedic/Taxi/Firefighter side-missions are optional vehicle related tasks which are much better than playing boring mini-games with regards to the difficulty involved and FAILURE being an option, forcing the player to repeat them, thus you have to learn how to counter the unpredicatability of the nature of these tasks, and quick sense on your part on how to make maximum money from limited time, and that depends on how good is your interaction with the map ( and without GPS ), each location, and specific routes and shortcuts to complete all the levels as quickly as possible with utmost care that no patients/citizens die, nor high wanted ratings throughout either. How come anyone find these challenges dumb? I don't get the dumb part since these play out exactly as drug wars, gang wars except you're saving peoples lives than shooting ( and vigilante allows you to take out the criminals ) They are certainly not exactly crime related, if that's what you find so dumb, then in context of an open world game like GTA they are certainly not. Their basic make-up DOES involve of using vehicles, avoiding wanted levels, and driving around the map taking on the challenges as they progressively get harder. Mini-games are what I'd call dumb activities, whether anyone agrees or not, because neither they fit in the context of the open world game where they give the player missions that involve the basics of driving, encourage you to explore the map before taking on side-missions, and neither they involve any killing/responsibility whatsoever nor you are facing any serious challenge. The Deadite
Well this logic is kind of flawed my friend. Why would a "crazy" and don't give a sh*t about anything psychopath such as Trevor have any interest in playing golf or tennis? But they're there for him to do regardless.Trevor does any stupid sh*t avalaible, wouldn't be surprised he spends his time in furry conventions or lowrider races, is equally objectable Johnny playing air hockey and going to a comedy club (2 things i avoid doing with him)Also you're contradicting yourself saying it's dumb, but awesome. Can't be both. Sure, Trevor is awesome but a dumb character, he's so bad that's good. I just feel your hate now.. Regarding the vigilante sidemissions, IMO it feels really out of place, i can't imagine Luis,"Johnny and Niko at all playing Batman, i wish R* they create a cop character in the future for the sidemission to make sense. They are not dumb. Absolutely not. Vigilante/Paramedic/Taxi/Firefighter side-missions are optional vehicle related tasks which are much better than playing boring mini-gamesThey are dumb, there's a difference between Carl playing "they crawled from uranus" in his pad and him suddenly deciding to save lives in an ambulance, there's a difference between Tommy selling drugs in a Mr Whoppe and him delivering pizzas as a delivery boy. Sorry for derailing the thread and being elitist,I guess i'm one of those idiots who tend to get in character too much. Osho
They are dumb, there's a difference between Carl playing "they crawled from uranus" in his pad and him suddenly deciding to save lives in an ambulance, there's a difference between Tommy selling drugs in a Mr Whoppe and him delivering pizzas as a delivery boyYou are stuck into the context rather than focusing on the presentation.I understand the former but my objection is regarding how casually you "just call it" as "dumb" simply because it doesn't fit with the character. So everything that doesn't fit with the character is dumb? And what about the other aspect - the open world? It fits well within everything that one can bring himself to make use of the potential of the massive open world, and a lot of it's magic because some people love to ALSO play the "open world" and enjoy it as much as possible. It ruins the game for many who find good enough possibilities absent, and suffocating to force them follow the writing, leading the protagonist as a character for everything which sucks, and it's not good, when I'm talking about a satisfying gameplay. You care only about one aspect, i.e., the importance of the game through the protagonists perspective, his overall character and personality, while ignoring the aspects outside strictly being CJ/Tommy despite appreciating them, and already played their story so many times, that the experience simply becomes linear due to prior knowledge of how it plays out, except about the open world itself. If I want to simply play an open world strictly limited for roleplay then I wouldn't call the experience truly sandbox in nature with freedom, and choices rather strictly an RPG - if I ONLY get the amount of enjoyment with respect to what fits CJ/Tommy, instead of the EXTRA enjoyment I get from replaying the side-missions, the side jobs, etc. that are not totally out of context either with regards to the game like GTA. It will atleast make me play the game again, but none of those roleplay necessarily required, and presented through the story, but are good enough to warrant a playthrough outside of it. .Ryan., The Green Sabre and ItsJustMeSrsly 3 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/764436-gtav-15-years-still-gives-me-wood/page/2/#findComment-1066902513 Share on other sites
The Green Sabre
I suppose the issue is that something as basic and asinine as Yoga made it into the game, but not a fan favorite like vigilante. Yoga had a bigger priority than activities that were in the series since GTA III. YOGA. Give me the vigilante, ambulance, and fire truck side missions over that trash any day of the week. I don't care if they don't "fit the character's personalities", that's a lame excuse to leave them out. MrDeSanta
The vigialnete, paramedics and firefighter missions may be little silly and unrealistic but they`re still miles better than stupid yoga or monkey mosaics. Does photographing some retarded monkey mosaics all over the map fits Trevor`s character more than doing vigilante or firefighter? I don`t think so because i can imagine Trevor doing the vigilante 100x before i could imagine him searching for monkey mosaics and photographing them so this whole "doesn`t fit their characters" isn`t a good excuse for the lack of these activities in V. The Green Sabre
Don't get me wrong, V's a great game, but I feel that it could've been better considering the five years of development. I have to wonder why the drug wars and vigilante were cut out, considering their popularity. Stuff like that could've made V more enjoyable. Packing_Heat
^ Agreed. I'm hoping that the single player DLC will add more activities; new or old. I wouldn't mind pool or bowling again, but at the same time I'd love a full blown casino or set of gambling activities. I really enjoyed the poker from RDR and to a smaller degree, TLaD.
