GTAV 1.5 Years still gives me wood

yes i am drunk, yes i have been on the wine, but after 30 day's total time, yes i know on GTAV Online, from the 360 to the PS4 plus 100 odd hrs on Singleplayer. Approx 800 hrs in GTAV.

Over a year and a half, i'm still in love with the world of GTAV am i strange, i find the world still the most compelling , the most beautiful, the most disturbed in Video game history. A view, be it a scenic view of the mountain's, or a dank alleyway in LS, i'm still in awe what Rockstar have achieved.

I'm 40 i remember the Atari 2600, Pole position, Buggy boy on the Atari ST,i remember the game VETTE the 1st open world car game set in San Francisco(1989) and i knew what a 3D Open world game based on vehicles had the potential to be.

From GTA1, London ,2,3,4 then the mona lisa, the taj mahal, the majesty of V, as i said i been on the wine, but i recommend get a bit wasted , drive around Los Santo's, take a walk on the wildside, pump up the music, relax and take in the sight's of i think video-game's Citizen Kane.

literally while i was writing this, listening to GTA Radio Pat Benetar in thg BG, as i submit post, some MF all i hear is gunshot's in the background,no more Pat, i'm another crime statistic, LS is dangerous.

Video games' Citizen Kane ??

HELL NOO !! The beautiful vistas, and overall atmosphere a great treat to the eyes, and experience, YES!

99% of my time covers the moments where I'm simply exploring around the map thanks to the good job by the designers, and the tech behind. But its not a very different world than we know about the LS in SA, except for the time, and feel of the past. There are places which the game replicates the real-life location as well, and as such, I wont seriously considered the work as something special. IMO its more graphical realism than what Citizen kane achieved through more imaginative approach and experimentation.

So using Citizen Kane to show V achievements in the same frame just don't make any sense to me, at all.

Don't get me wrong though. GTA V is an excellent game for taking road trips, snapmatic, etc, and I even have enjoyed the game for exploring. But when talking about the best game ( or something as close to Citizen Kane of video gaming ) of the GTA series, you have to break the whole argument into two parts; the details and graphics, & the raw gameplay outside of it.

still on the Wine, and trust i'm not dismissing Citizen Kane, i love it. My point since i was a babe i loved the VideoGame, Space invader's, Pacman, Lucasart's, ID, Halflife, Baulder's Gate, Skyrim, FTL all the way, all that shish , and tonight i don't know why but i figured something about RS and their creation , don't get me wrong hardly honeymoon ,period. What did i discover , GTAV is a world , a world that is not the one world we have, a world created that exist's that has a physicality , a dimension, a reality. Los Santos actually exist's.

I got what you mean about the Citizen Kane reference.. Was playing it last night. Was a lot of fun. I have so many criticisms, naturally as an old burnt-out GTA player that demand's "HIS" GTA lol. It's really something special though. :D

I like this guy. He's a sexy drunk with great taste in video games.

I would say that, without a doubt, it's my favourite GTA game, but that may just be because it's new and not as familiar as IV or San An, which I've spent thousands of hours on over the years. V, for me, has opened up the claustrophic worlds we've had before, even III era San An felt restrictive and closed in to me, which gave it's illusion of travelling further than you really were, admittedly, but also felt cramped and crowded. V blew that apart and gave us miles and miles of stunning playground to run riot in.

It's definitely not the greatest game ever, because Red Dead Redemption is, but it's up in the top 10 games of all time for me, and certainly in the top 5 PS3 games of all time - again, MY top 5.

I'm always happy to see someone get such a great experience out of a game like this, drunk or not. Keep enjoying it man!

I love the game too, I don't see half of the problems people keep mentioning. I enjoyed the story and I really like the characters, I like the new direction, which isn't aimed at 12 year olds just because it doesn't have gang missions. The amount of vehicles and weapons is an important thing for me and there's sh*t loads of them, I like the dynamic score, being able to turn cars over after you've flipped them is a blessing. Much like IV I'll be playing it until the next one.

Although remember being complimentary about V is ball licking. Some people who don't like the story, or driving or whatever else, don't seem to be able to comprehend someone else liking them. So you're gonna have to start calling the game sh*t soon or you'll be bitched at for 600 pages :p

Look, I like GTA V don't get me wrong but I haven't played it for like 2 weeks and I haven't missed at all. I've given my full thoughts on it several times but I just can't justify calling it a "great game". Yes, it's fun and graphically it looks stunning but I just enjoyed GTA IV more overall. Maybe if there was more to do in SP i'd like it more but at this point it'll remain as a "good" game.

Citizen Kane is taking it a little too far but it is still a great game.

If you think about the scope and scale of the game, I'd say it's comparable. Everything is huge, everything is expansive, and yet it still manages to put across a few fairly personal and moving moments. Weird, I know, but I found Trevor and the real estate guy's little thread quite disturbing, it really carried some impact. Everything about Citizen Kane was grandiose and overblown, which V kind of is, too.

But yeah.

I think I bought V in late 2013. It did not grab me. I tried and tried, and eventually gave up on it for a long time. Part of it was gameplay, what they took out, the "lame" storylines, etc., and part of it was the annoying updates that would freeze the game on the load screen. I finally said "screw it," uninstalled it and went at least six months without even thinking about it.

About a month ago I thought, surely things must have gotten better by now. I installed it again, downloaded what seemed like a ton of updates, and started the game again... and this time I loved it. Maybe I'm just looking at it with different eyes now, but I find it very appealing. Granted, I still think some of the missions are not very exciting (rescuing Michael's annoying family? Snooze), and it seems once the heists start the "other activities" available aren't all that hot - but I've been playing marathon sessions on weekends (bottoms up!) and even squeezing in some hours during the week.

The game is definitely better once Trevor is available. Sad thing is, in the past I found the game so dull I never got to that part before! They really should have mixed it up a bit, thrown in at least an introduction to Trevor earlier in the game.

Anyway, my rambling point is I used to hate it, and now I love it. Go figure.

I love V but let's not get carried away. There is a happy medium between the Citizen Game of gaming and pure garbage.

They did introduce him in the prologue mission.

What I meant was, some sort of activity introduction. Of course we know who he is from the prologue, but it's all pretty much run-and-gun. It just would have been nice to have something to do with him in between Franklin's lame-o missions and chasing Jimmy around.

If you don't mess around, you can get to Trevor within the first hour.

You said that you prefer IV to V but then you say that you wish V had more things to do in SP. Doesn`t make sense to me since V has far more things to do in SP than IV.

I ussually bitch about V alot but when it comes to the activities outside the storyline then IV is pretty much dead right after you finish the main plot. V is still miles ahead in this aspect.

It makes perfect sense if you consider that maybe he just doesn't care about playing tennis, golf, parachuting, hunting etc. He probably enjoyed what GTA IV offered more..

Even though GTA V technically has more features I do wish it had more to do pertaining to the criminal underworld. It's always lacked an infinite combat based activity/side mission if you ask me.

Well tbh, IV didn`t have exactly alot of crime-related activities neither. Sure it had way more than V but still not enough compared to TLAD and TBOGT or 3D era.

LJ`s 10 drug running missions which were too easy and kinda boring, Vigilante and Most wanted. And assasinations These 3 were OK but they were too short, you could finished them all in couple of hours but after that i didn`t find much to do in IV so i ussually started a new playthrough. Then there were Brucie`s and Stevie`s car thefts but i wouldn`t call them exactly a thrill or anything challenging.

Still better than tennis and yoga, that`s for sure but still not enough satisfying.

Compared to TLAD`s and TBOGT`s drug/gang wars (which was probably the best GTA side-crime activity ever) IV was quite poor in this aspect.

What i tried to say in V you at least have alot of planes, boats, cars and whatnot to mess around after the main storyline but in IV i just don`t find much to do other than aforementioned things. There`s alot of things i hate in V but looking at this aspect (what to do with your imagination after you`ve done anything scripted), V certainly beats IV.

While GTA V is huge, it's a little lacking in terms of activities, especially in the criminal area. Why wasn't Vigilante in V again?

what a lovely contradiction.
