Five Nights at Freddy's 3

It's happening. Barely half an year since the first game was released, and Scott already has a trailer, screenshots and description for the third installment. Shameless milking of a young franchise? Definitely, but taking in account each game is relatively cheap, and knowing that literally one man does all of this by himself, and seeing how the two previous games were pretty interesting, I'm definitely curious to see the outcome of this.

Thirty years after Freddy Fazbear's Pizza closed it's doors, the events that took place there have become nothing more than a rumor and a childhood memory, but the owners of "Fazbear's Fright: The Horror Attraction" are determined to revive the legend and make the experience as authentic as possible for patrons, going to great lengths to find anything that might have survived decades of neglect and ruin.

At first there were only empty shells, a hand, a hook, an old paper-plate doll, but then a remarkable discovery was made...

The attraction now has one animatronic.

So, speculations? Theories?

Just because it's a cheap game and it's made by one man doesn't mean you can milk it like a cow. That destroys the franchise in the long run, gives it a bad name, and ends up making less money because it's still too early for a sequel.

At the end of the year, we will be at Five Nights at Freddy's 50.

Don't become like Ubisoft but worse. Give the franchise a rest THEN make a sequel.

I think the creator knows what they are doing. Considering it's a short, cheap game, churning at sequels at this rate is not even comparable to Ubisoft. Besides, he's essentially just serving his loyal fans with the lore in the form of sequels. The FNAF fans probably love it. I don't see a problem here.

I don't see the problem either if he just gives it a rest, because the game wasn't even out for a half year and we already got a sequel. That's when things just go wrong, because it gives the feeling it's just about raking in $.

2 only offered a mask for protection and the music box. That's literally all 2 offered new. What's 3 going to bring? A new phone you can use to call 911?

Im not hating on the game but it's too soon for a sequel in my book.

It's funny you should post this i just saw it's up for voting on steam greenlight!

Lets face it this franchise doesn't really have a future and i think the dev realizes this. He was very lucky to have some serious exposure by popular Youtubers witch is why so many picked it up. It could be the only franchise he ever makes that is popular so why not milk it until it dies a horrible death. I've brought both and they're just a pile of pig sh*t, in actual fact calling it pig sh*t is being to generous it's more like an unstoppable burning flow the night after a undercooked spicy Chinese.

I think that's an overly-simplified way of putting it, frankly. It's not just what the sequel added, it's also what the sequel removed: No more doors and no more power management, both of which change the gameplay dramatically. It's still a point and click game, but those changes make it completely different from its predecessor, at least from a strategical point of view. Having dominated the gameplay of the first game doesn't make you any more capable of playing the second one and vice-versa. Frankly, I think that's a pretty bold move from a developer, not even most Triple A companies dare to heavily change the core gameplay of their games.

And yes, the novelty of the franchise has definitely worn out by now, but the concept of fluffy killer robots haunting a pizzeria and all the story behind it still has a lot to be developed on. I, for one, hope to see more answers all the mysteries set by the previous games, it's what actually grips me in the franchise. And while it's inevitable that these things come and go I don't think it will die that soon either, this thing just made it to #1 on Greenlight in less than a day and the discussion page seems to be even more active than it was on the second one.

I honestly don't blame the creator for milking these. It's popular. People are going to buy them and play them. YouTubers are going to continue to play them. He's being smart. Demand is high, so he's cashing in.

Well as long as he has an interesting and cryptic story behind the 3 games, I am fine with it. They are cheaply made. It is hard to say whether he planned a trilogy or not though..
