Next-Gen Lobbies Are More Friendly?

Recommended Posts

I recently made the transition into next-gen GTA Online. I eased in, first getting used to first person in an invite only session, then going into some jobs & finally into Free Roam.

A couple of days ago, I went into a full lobby with dots all around Los Santos. I prepared for war, as I would have in last-gen, and took a fast car in order to run from dicks who try to blow everything up.

When I finally came across someone, he zoomed right past me. I assumed he was in a hurry, so I just shruged it off. Then I went into the Hair Salon to change my beard, and someone pulled up. He ran inside & waited for me to finish & got on. I stood outside, prepared for a full-on shoot out, but he just got in his car & took off. A few days passed & I was taking pictures of my car outside of Los Santos Customs. As usual, a couple of people pulled up. I thought I was done for, but they just parked their car beside mine & began taking pictures, too. About a week has passed & I haven't come across anyone trying to blow me up, shoot me for no reason, or even bother me at all.

However, when I went into a lobby on the Xbox 360 to take a picture for a thread, I got blown up in a matter of minutes. Soon after I got run over by a Zentorno. I switched lobbies, but no luck. Everyone was running all over the place, guns blazing.

My questions for you all are:

1. Do you believe next-gen lobbies are more friendly than last-gen lobbies are?

2. Why do you think this is?

3. What is your GTA Online experience usually like?

1. No.

2. Apparently they were before all the little kiddies got their PS4s and XB1s, before Christmas.

3. I hang out in inv-only sessions to avoid the masses of mask-wearing f*ckwits.

I've noticed the same lobbies as in last-gen. Same mask wearing killers, same shoot-on-sight players, same sticky bomb chrome car drivers. I guess it's just me, though. I have found some nice people, such as a low level who asked me to follow them on a bicycle, riding around Davis.

In your experience, I think it has to do with people still adjusting. Yes, the game has been out for almost two months, but there are still people making the transition every day.

My usual experience? The same people that I got in last-gen. Shooters on sight, mask wearing face paint killers, chrome super cars, etc. But there are some nice people.

That's cute lol.

Things were pretty chill sometimes when I first started on PS4, which was a couple of days after it released. I don't know if it's more friendly, I think it might just be less confrontation... if that made any sense... I don't even know haha

I see less free roam wars on PS4 and more high levels "bullying" low levels. I'm hesitant to even call it bullying because it seems that next gen have the gutsiest noobs of all time, always attacking players who are way more experienced and armed.

thats becsue alot of those "noobs" arent noobs at all, theyre experienced players starting from scratch and no transferring existing characters... I know quite alot of poeple made a fresh start on ps4 n they seem like ballsy noobs but in fact generally own your average level 100 using only a pistol

RichiesTrucking

i had a level 15 attack me with only the 2 of us in a lobby. he failed to kill me and i got him a little later when i wanted to teach him a lesson

later that day i spawned after a normal deathmatch to have a level 16 participant kill me as i spawned. then 2 of my friends spawned and one of my friends friends. someone jumped in to help the level 16 but it was still an easy battle for us but it was a low level who started it

they have more guts but guts dont make up for stupidity. just because 6 people are in a fist fight deathmatch does not mean they are not friends

every lobby i appear in seems to have players killing players, especially experienced players griefing noobs. i dont get involved in gun fights but if its a tank then i will go and get my tank to kill the griefers tank. sometimes i just spawn my tank and let a low level player have some fun. in all fairness they have not once turned it against me although i do still jump in the car and get the hell out of there and wait in session so they can keep it until the inevitable end

They're far from it, at least the have been since Christmas when the squeakers made the transfer to utter in a new generation of glass shatterers.

1. No I don't.

2. They're the same as last gen only with the ability to truly avoid them.

3. My experience varies depending on how I'm feeling. Some days if a lobby is full of squeakers I'll go to them and spawn kill every one of them until they leave, or, sometimes I'll leave them until they normally try to grief me and if they do it's pretty much scenario 1 again.

1. More friendlier? Yes but I still get blown up in minutes and ran over a lot. I just assume they need help because they couldn't hit a skyscraper with a rocket launcher.

2. It's a stereotype that assholes are poor. =)

3. Often easy to the point of bordom I go do missions for excitement. What mostly happens is someone kills me and run away. I appreciate my corpse putting the fear of god in them but still can't we least pvp a bit before you run away screaming like an orphan out of an orphanage on fire? (meh you have to know who Richard is LFG comics =)

It's debateable.

I have noticed players tend not to come sniffing around so much on current gen, but they still shoot on sight if you go near them.

Easy enough to avoid.

1. grab a mic.

2. step two hey Elric I am approaching so don't shoot I am friendly!

3. Don't get shot.

or temp add me as a friend then I know not to when you get close. you can always dump my name later.

I know lots of people started from scratch, those aren't the ones I'm talking about. I use the words "noobs" with exactness, meaning I'm actually talking about gutsy noobs, not low leveled seasoned players.

I'm actually one of the people who started from scratch instead of transferring my level +300 character. I'm pretty sure I can recognize noobs when I see them, UNLESS these experienced players just suck so much that they seem like genuine noobie. That's always possible, I guess. In that case, you are right
