curix
Hello everyone.I have finished building my new PC a few months ago. I get decent framerates in most of modern games like Battlefield 4 (50-120fps).. But I'm struggling with GTA IV, and it worries me about that I won't be able to run GTA V on max graphics in the near future. On maxed out setting in GTA IV it often stays on 30fps or less, without the v-sync enabled. I ran the benchmark test from In-game menu, and it dropped down to even 10fps. From you I would like to hear any suggestions about what improvements should I make to my system so those games, especially GTA V, run smoothly.P.S. I think it's the CPU which is slowing everything down for me (since it's dual core), so the 1st thing I will do is propably swap my Intel Pentium g3258 with an Intel i5 4690k CPU. Good choice or no? AZAZEL
Your processor is a bit of a bottleneck - as I recall, IV was very CPU dependent, and badly optimized at that. You can't really compare that to V, which seems to be very well optimized judging by the recommended specs. I think you'll be alright, but a new CPU, or some proper overclocking would do wonders. curix
Yeah, well I overclocked it to 4.2ghz on a stock cooler, helped a bit but not that much (still had FPS issues in GTA IV) and the temps went up to almost 90c while stress testing. I guess I'd rather invest in a better CPU by itself than overclock the dual core one. And if that won't be enough I'll still be able to overclock the 4690k. aStiffSausage
Got i5-4670k and GTX-770 on my rig, and I remember getting around 40-50FPS all maxed, with vehicle density affecting the most. Taking into consideration that my GPU is less powerful than yours, you should be fine for V with just a CPU upgrade. curix
Did you do any overclocking on your i5-4670k or got 40-50fps with base frequency of 3.4ghz? aStiffSausage
All stock, so 3.4GHz. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/763694-problems-gta-iv/?do=findComment&comment=1066879231 Share on other sites
