helpplease
So I bought Saints Row game series on sale on Steam and played a few hrs of SR2. First of the graphics are shocking. Just bottom of the barrel generic textureless boring Sim quality graphics. Playing the first hour I actually missed the RenderWare engine of the old days. I think the transition from RenderWare to RAGE has lost a lot of what was great about GTA. For example, I hate the way Niko walks so slowly. I hate how cars run you over and how you fall through the windshield. universetwisters
I like the RAGE engine because it's got a lot more under the hood compared to Renderware, like euphoric (I think that's the name) animations instead of premade ones. BTW, I don't think the games engine is a determinant factor on how fast the protagonist walks. However, the RW engine is pretty neat in the sense I grew up with it. oh, memories. Isn't RAGE an updated version of Renderware like Source engine is an updated version of GoldSRC? Close enough. To your second point, I think Rage is a whole new engine since IIRC, EA bought the rights to Renderware so Rockstar had to make a whole new engine. I could be wrong, and if I am, so wrong may I be, but that's what I recall reading once. Jerome
Renderware was ok. But I don't miss it since RAGE has so much more to offer. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/763690-does-anyone-miss-renderware-engine/#findComment-1066878119 Share on other sites

Vice City criminal
Not Really. Even If Miss it sometimes I just go play VC or VCS. besides the Rage Engine can offer a lot too and probably hasn't been used to his total extention yet. After experiencing Euphoria everything about it is superior to the 3D era. Watching the same repetitive death animations, hitting peds with cars sending them flying into the air and then coming back down like a piece of paper etc feels stale after the diversity Euphoria offers with similar actions. And R.A.G.E gives the characters proper fingers. R.A.G.E/Euphoria> Renderware. Nico
Honestly, no. I think the RAGE / Euphoria combo was a win win choice for GTA IV. What a shame the physics in V were toned down for the little children. I can see the average "everything in 3D was better blablabla" users come here and bash the RAGE engine just because they prefer the old games. PhillBellic
I'm Raging for RAGE, and Euphoric for Euphoria. With all due respects. Renderware looks too primitive and rudimentary. I simply like RAGE too much now to go back. .Ryan., Octane, TheOneLibertonian and 2 others 5 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/763690-does-anyone-miss-renderware-engine/#findComment-1066880755 Share on other sites
