Anyone else having real problems when connecting to jobs/missions?

 

You always get the odd one here or there, but today I can't seem to connect to anything.

It's not down completely, but it's not real stable.

I've have NEVER been able to connect to a public lobby, always timed out, network error, or most of the time I'm put in by myself.

 

Other games have no problem. Like BF4 with 64 players.

 

Its on rock stars end, not us.

You're right! It is on R* end. It should be fixed by PC release.

 

The issues are with the servers. Timed out, unknown network error, etc. Although it's always best to ensure you have an open NAT With ports forwarded

I'd really like to hear a legit answer from R* or a real computer/tech nerd as to why so many people have connection issues and why other don't have any.

I'm not tring to start anything, I am just curious as to what/why it is...

I myself haven't had any issues with lag, timing out, freezing or being put into lobbies by myself since I forwarded my ports in October, my NAT type is still 2 and haven't DMZ. Yet there tens/hundreds of thousands(maybe more?) that have nothing but problems no matter what they do and recommendations that R* gives...

It makes no sense to me, then again I don't have that great of an understanding of computer/network/server stuff

I am only able to connect to invite only sessions right now.

 

I usually have no issues joining, so this is weird for me.

the last few days have been almost unbearable for me(ps4). I have to switch lobbies 4 or 5 times to find other people, when I finally do, I have at most 10 minutes before connection error. So I gave up on Freeroam. Last night every other mission I was on I would get kicked back to SP. If it stays like this I'm going to give up on the game until they fix it.

 

I'm really pissed about it because I had surgery last week, I have to spend all this week on the couch. The one silver lining to it was I was looking forward to playing a lot. Instead I've been mostly watching daytime spanish soap operas with my wife. Oh well, at least the girls are pretty(see profile pic).

Anyways, I had this problem on PS3 last night.

 

With a serious bent: It implies they have a backend issue. Either the backend is falling down, again, or they're working on increasing content.

 

In the case of the latter, if you spun up new machines in the "cloud" to offset load, it's a possibility that the new systems are causing sessions to freak out as they go available yet aren't fully ready to take load yet. If that's teh case, you could see an error akin to this.

 

Considering there was no maintenance annoucement, this is a stretch. However, it's not outside of the realm of believability. Whether hists happen next week or next month, it makes sense that they'd increase the backend capability in preperation for it.

 

On the other hand, it's all conjecture and looking at tea leaves. Read into it as much as you want.
