first off if this is in the wrong section sorry but this was the only place i could think of doing it. now i am a big history buff and the american civil war being one of my favorite parts of hisory. i know we have he history channel games and the call of juarez but it was only in 2 missions. the civil war lasted from 1861 to 1865 so i know the guns werent as favorable as todays guns but i really want a good civil war game i dont care who develops it but i know rockstar could be pretty good at it like red dead. if we had one what theatres would you want the eastern or western? i would like a mix because not many movies focus on the western front. it could have real life people like general lee, general grant, stonewall jackson etc. and the guns wouldent be to bad it ranged from rifles to lever action rifles even the gatling gun and cannon. it could have multiplayer with deathmatches and other modes. the singleplayer could be two charecters who are on opposite sides and accidentaly meet just like in the movie the blue and the grey. that is just my wishlist. what do yall think? and for those who dont know what the war was about look it up because i dont have time to write all night. and i could care less about what view its in because i play games that are in both.

Call of Juarez could take on this

it did have a small part in the begging but it was short im talking about a full game. i just finished watching a civil war documentary i really hope some developers make a civil war game on next gen.

I can see it now...

Call of Duty 5: Light Brigade

or

Call of Duty: StoneWall

Featuring General Franklin B Price. Captain Price's great great grandfather.

funfact... Take-Two published a Civil War game...

I'd play it. I'd rather play it if it had that Call of Duty Finest Hour feel to it. I couldn't play it if it was watered down and had cheap action segments to keep those with short attention spans interested.

Also, I'd be more interested in the story if it were oriented in that direction. Character development is very significant too.

i only played bound in blood but since i got rid of my ps3 i got rid of it. i love the 2 missions in the war plus the fact that there confederate was cool to. i think a confederate story would be more interesting because of the reasons they fought not just slavery. ive seen civil war movies were the union are the main guys ad its boring the same fight for the union and slavery crap. the union didint care about slavery infact there were still northern yankees that had slaves. they just did the emancipation to show the english that they stopped slavery because the south was close to seccuring british support and obviously the north didint want that. did you know during the war of 1812 new england were having meetings about suceeding from the union because they were tired of the war. also do you know why west virginia is what it is? because during the civil war there were some northerners that wanted to break away from the confedrates. thats right the north succeded from the south. sorry for going off topic but when i start i cant stop. HISTORY FTW!!!!!

Anyone remember North vs South on the Nes?

That game was the sh*t back in the day. I played it on an emulator recently and held up pretty good over time too. It's a mix between a strategy game & platformer. You can play it in your browser here http://game-oldies.com/play-online/north-and-south-nintendo-nes#

The concept of a Civil War game is one I've thought about before, and I must say, I would definitely welcome it. I think the chances of seeing a game based on the Civil War (or as I call it, the War for Southern Independence) is most likely to happen as part of the Assassin's Creed series, seeing as they have already done the American Revolutionary War and they are known for the historical emphasis.

If they did it though, I'd want them to do it right. None of this "Yankees show up and clean house" mess...but an actual unbiased take on it.

Some sort of mercenary maybe? Only goes where the moneys highest at each time and has an unbiased view on the war, or frankly he just doesn't give a damn as long as someone pays more. Could get involved in some major parts of the war but you wouldn't want to overdo it. Could confidently develop a good character around him. Be a bit like John Marston, obviously didn't do it for the money but he did what he had to do for either side to get his family back (Those who wanted the old west to remain dominant/those who wanted to bring it into the 20th century).
