Hello, you guys are doing a great job and it would be a shame to have something like the paths keep you from finishing it. I have a suggestion for a solution: For the paths, would it be possible to have 3(or more) path files, all with different names(vcpaths.dat,lcpaths.dat,??paths.dat..eg)? You could have the game start with the paths for whatever city the player starts in then once the player is coming close to another city, have the game rename the paths file to something else and then rename the paths file of whatever city your close by to "paths.dat" and then reload the paths file(gta-vc.dat). I remember reading something similar to this in the LC Launcher Thread(I think) so I think it might be possible, is it?

I'm not giving up, ahhh narh we have come to far.

 

I'm thinking how about cut down on the VC paths, there is alot of paths in VC, who would notice if one of two streets was emtpy.

 

There is also the statium and other paths in areas that are not really needed.

 

We are over the limit by only +16 , because i've counted the paths that went over that sent the game into a crash.

 

Now I still haven't been able to upload the public mod anywhere, I seem to have a problem getting it onto file planet.

 

Does anyone here have any pull with GTAgarage or GTAF admins, I could really need some help here.

 

Tux, I don't like saying this over and over, but I have promission to do what I like with the exe, but aslong as it's only released with GTA State of Liberty.

 

I have in place stuff that prevents the mod from being used without the original game disks, So I see no problem.

 

But yes I'd feel better if I could create a patch, and fix the dam problems with the exe.

I'm having problems, I don't have enough bandwidth on the site able to host the mod nor am I having any luck finding a site who will host the mod.

 

If anyone can host the mod who has a legit site in the GTA community, please let me know.

@PlatinumSerb: Yeah, I assume from looking at SA its not one giant path file, might be an idea to look at, might trick the already set limit.

 

But still if its only 16 paths over the limit, that ain't nothing. If you want upload the path file and I'll trim some fat if you dont' feel like doing it. Need more than 16 for MML, the other islands, my highways. But I agree, snip out some back alleys and small streets, paths at the airports. I know near the entrance to Porter Tunnel there is ped paths that could be done without.

Not possible with the VC engine and I can't think of a way to do this as a remote exe hook, like how MTA overrides the VC engine to allow for online abilities.

 

We also want the mod to be online at some point, but for now we need to address the EXE problems and I am still stressing over the first bugs that where first found.

Can't you just use the GTA Garage entry that's already there? In fact there are two but I am guessing that the second is for a San Andreas release?

GTAGarage has a default of 3mb worth of HD space for mods, you gotta request for more space and I'm not sure if they have limits. What do the other total-convertion teams use?

@Keith: When I was making Mission 2, I saw that peds were walking on Starfish Island all around Tommy's Mansion and in it, this is so useless. Think about it, any peds except for gang peds aren't 'allowed' in there. Those can go, should free up some space. smile.gif

 

Mission 2, the cutscene part (no fancy animations) is done. Now just the mission part has to be made. That shouldn't take too long. I'll work on Mission 4 after I finish it. smile.gif

I was about to say what teun said: We must remove paths in Tommy's mansion as they're useless.

 

I remember Paths can be removed:

 

-Tommy's Mansion (teun said)

-Stadium(Mc-kay said)

-The path in front of Army Base, no one is supposed to be there except army guys, but army men are grouped as a gang actually, controlled via scm.So np with removing that.

-We can cut-off some beach paths or expand one of beach path so it can supply a long walk path on the whole beach.

-The path(s) of Airport motorways; you know the bridge where there's a plane and a way lies under it.We don't need any peds there.

-I also saw people in police hq.We just need polices.Having LC's paths is better than having some peds in police hq.

-Pole position paths if exist(maybe we won't even make it enterable but use it for sa interiors; it's useless)

-Film studio paths, but i'm not even sure if there's a path for it.

 

I'll add more if I remember.

230 Megs that is the max size of any file I'm willing to release for now.

 

Public release is 213.4 Megs.

Damn gonna have to buy vice again now sad.gif ive been having to play with a no cd crack as my disc as got highly scratched and my player can barely read it sad.gif i was lucky enough to get an install off it the other day and ive been using that when ever my game has messed up instead of re installing as it aint an option sad.gif suppose it aint too bad it's only like £20 in stores. - The-end

I've spent the best part of all night picking at the exe, and i've wasted a lot of time, since i've found nothing helpful.

 

So whats the next move, well it's going to be sometime before Andy's back.

 

So it's best for now we carry on with the missions (The Plan tux has) and I finish the map, if all fails with the EXE, We move to the next step porting the mod to SA.

 

I trying to find a way to be happy over all this, but either way least we have a working beta, we just need to find a place to host it.

Do you have anyone in mind:

 

All the poeple besides myself have made a pigs ear out of it.

 

On the flip side, I may have some startrek modders joining the team, these people are coders and model makers, they have never worked on GTA before but we need all the help we can get.

 

Besides these guys are putting there trek uniforms aside to work on a real mod smile.gif

teun, is there any way i could contact you other than here? because ive been working on a swamp area that would go somewhere near vice city, but i cant get it in game, so if i could send it to you and have you put it in or something, that would be great. Or maybe keith can do it or something im not sure who has the time. and you dont need to release it, i just need to see it in game so i can make adjustments etc. if you have msn im [email protected] or AIM im metallicaxlxl.

I've been fooling around with SCM a bit, modified one of the Bloodring Bangers, and as a result the Vercetti Gang members now drive Vercetti Bangers all around Starfish Island. This could be a nice addition to State of Liberty. I'll post pics soon. smile.gif

 

@Tux: I converted the missions and text now works with all of them, I have the finished GXT file ready here, tables:

MIS2, MIS3, MIS6. I dunno where MIS1 has gone, but I can add it again if you want? Just send me the text.

Spent the last several hours playing the original LC, haven't actually played it in several years. I must admit that it seems like the SOL Liberty City renders a hell of alot better than this GTA III version I have (whatever version is around currently), v1.1, seems to have alot of trouble loading and its a clean install....anyways......

 

Here's an aspect that I always liked about GTAIII, and I doubt it could be done. Anyone else miss from GTA III being able to shoot off limbs. You know, shoot someone in the leg and it actually came off. I'm suprised that wasn't kept in the game, maybe a touch too violent *vague stroking motions*. Is there anyway that could be done in the SOL Engine, I would say no because the GTA III ped models were problem designed to blow apart.
