seems like I have missed alot... I dont really come around GTAF much due to all the fighting and anger that gets tossed around..

 

anyway, been getting back into game design. little by little

What I say to anyone. 'if you don't have anything good or constructive to say then don't say it at all'

 

Anyway, you have always supported me with the development of SOL so I wouldn't want you to go anywhere. just ignore those people.

dont worry, im not waving in the white flag yet... I still come by to see how SOL is doing and I do post about it on other sites. :)

 

and as for the fighting and such, I was getting harassed on facebook by some GTAForum members so its also been distancing me from GTAF...

 

anyway, I aint gonna abandon SOL anytime soon lol

At least for III era stuf, grit wouldn´t worck properly with, because III era physics is not compatible with grit.

But aren't assets from the III era copyrighted by Rockstar?

But III era vehicle handling can´t be converted to grit properly, the same with the collision models. Grit could be more suitable fore RAGE era stuff. GTA 4 and 5 map including vehicles, weapons and other stuff would look cool on grit engine and would make people like me with low performance PCs happy.

Hello, recently I heard about this modding project and have some questions about it. I apologize if these have been asked elsewhere. I could not seem to find the answers I am looking for. I hope perhaps some of the team members can fill me in on these questions

 

Since you guys plan to bring the various 3D cities together, how do you plan to deal with the time-line differences (as San Andreas was set in the 90's and Vice City in the 80's, etc?)

 

What will players of this mod require in terms of game discs, etc?

 

Is the stories version of the mod solely going to be the maps without vehicles, pedestrians, or game features? It has been stated that these would be blank maps for these versions but I'm not entirely sure what that means

 

Will you guys be creating a protagonist from scratch or will we be playing as one of the previous ones like CJ or Tommy?

 

Will people be able to mod this mod like the other GTA games or will this mod be closed source?

SOL has different versions. SA/VC Trilogy combine the original maps while Underground and InFusions add custom maps and modify original models.

 

Underground has a ton of features while InFusions has just maps with traffic and literally nothing else but a few timecycle templates. Maybe InFusions does have custom weather, I definitely dont know.

 

However SOL is really great with or without custom features.

The point really was to keep the history of SOL from the oldest /first posts.

 

I guess the topic has turned into a general chat about SOL, but I'm going to let it slide.

hey just posting to get updates.

X-Seti is inactive for a while once again, and will be back in a few weeks.

Please ask this in a different topic.

 

I've been talking to X-Seti lately, and he'll be back, don't worry.

Midway is now fully remodelled (not sure though), MLL is being remodelled, the SA Underground version uses the 69.5 one, with lightning applied to it.

 

Oh and, next time use the SOL InFusions boards for X-Seti's progress, and the Trilogy/Underground boards for my progress.

I am not a psychic, I need some detail about the errors in question.

 

Tell me about the OS your running and something about what the error please.

 

Windows 10 may be a problem because of DirectX and Installing DX9..

I've abanned my testing with Grit engine. it's odd to say this but that engine needs alot of work.

 

We have Rage IV almost LA'ed by fastman92 so it's time to move in that direction.

 

We would need a dedecated coder to spend alot of man hours on that engine.. not for me.

Why so? Are you going to hack more limits, build an EXE, or what?

as for IV Rage, I would suggest trying to contact the RAGE dev team. it would be a good start and maybe on of their members would hop on board or point you in the right direction :p

I don't think that this team is exist atm.

SOL Infusion version is in active development and its on alpha stage. We have ported docks and midway (both of them are not done yet). Still needs to do some shaders, improvements and other minor things for locations.

So I can say exactly that first ported cities will be Midway, Midway south and Vice City. SA and LC will coming in 2016.

Well i just downloaded last update and reinstaled new vc and got this: Error1

Downloaded SOLcore from gdrive and got this after i start a new game: error2

An at error2 if i close it and enter again the game gives me a difrent error code everytime

 

:(

Infusions VC really had a lot of bugs. All fixable but the main problem are the hacks used to make that version possible.

I'd never really understand why the mod would work for some people and not others where it was just a matter of unpacking the mod files and copying these files over a freshly installed VC.

No consistency in the bug reports as everyone reported back different data (because of dodgy hacks). I've wasted a lot of time researching this. where it boils do to 7z being unpacked with a version of winrar missing some files being unpacked.

I do plan on another version for VC. but my time now is on SA and Rage.

I am split between liking the VC engine, but the hacks need an overhaul badly and that is very time consuming.


Little hint here goes to Fastman92 or someone else who would like a challenge.

Installing the mod files.

Providing you installed your copy of Vice City from disk and ran this at least once with your desired settings.

Following this example of how to install the mod might be easier then how it is written in the mods documentation. (Readme)

There are 2 ways to install the mod:

  • The first would be to install Vice City as a Clean copy on your Harddrive and make sure all the files was not set as read-only as this would create issues over writing the files later.
  • Start the GTA_VC.exe and check your settings for the display and run the game once.
  • Quit GTA ViceCity.
  • Copy the mods folder over your installed GTA Vice City replacing all the files.

Download the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package from here. http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/confirmation.aspx?id=5555

You should be good to go so just run the GTASOL_Start.exe instead of the gta-vc.exe

Now the Second way that works best for Linux users.

  • Unpack all the mod files into an empty folder called GTASOL69.5.
  • Drag the Anims, Icons, Mp3, Mss, Movie, Skins, Text, Txd (but keeping LOADSC0.TXD) folders from your installed VC install into your GTASOL69.5 folder, also the files from your Vice City root folder like the Mss32.dll, gta-vc.exe and readme files.
  • Copy the Audio folder from Your Vice City Play Disk (Disk2) into the GTASOL69.5 folder.
  • Run the mod from the GTASOL_Start.exe.
