VC. SA has too many bugs & unhacked map bounds to even think about porting SOL to SA.

Technically, Liberty City should be very far east of Las Venturas, like in Saint Marks Bistro you have to fly east of LV before the screen fades and you're in Liberty City.

I agree, LC is only there temporally (didn't want United's LC to be in the way of SA, anyway it's removed now). LC will as you mentioned North East of LV while VC will be South East of LA.

VC. SA has too many bugs & unhacked map bounds to even think about porting SOL to SA.

 

Can SA's features like clothes and haircuts be added in tho?

There is only one thing stopping SOL fully working on the SA engine, I do have some of the map ported on that engine already. the object limits are no longer the problem as I have been reducing the amount of objects (currently at 16520). it's the map bounds that is holding me back.

 

SA features can be added but this takes a lot of time and effort. Having ped effects would be a nice addition.

curious if u would be releasing a stand alone chicago map mod for SA.... as a teaser for people waiting for sol.... would keep people interested for a while ;) plus a lot of people have wanted a chicago map for a long time... can't tell you how many people have made chicago ped and gang mods for SA...

 

I can send you a fairly large pack of Chicago gangs with an edited peds.ide and pedgrp.dat aswell as possible locations so you can add em...

I still think that should make a 3d era version of North Yankton, it can be covered in snow and stuff.

I still think that Carcer and Cottonmouth could be added (but they won't sadly). Okay, how about making a city far away from Upstate LC, and name it Anywhere City? It would not be the exact same one as in GTA2, but would be an own city made on it's own. Kinda like LC from GTA1 was completely redesigned in GTA3 and GTA4.

One thing at a time m8's

 

I'm still in the middle of Vice City adding cool things to the docks. If we want the mod to be the best it can be I need to invite other modders. I'm working on this on my jacks.

 

If you know anyone who can help or you know something about modding yourself. Talk to me.

 

I am having issues with the Radiodity, I need to remove this from the map /models so I can redo the pre-lighting, this is where i NEED help the most.

That part of the map was an idea only where I have spent a lot of time moving objects around to get the best layout.

 

I liked the original GTAIII texture but now these are so outdated. I'd remodel everything replacing R's buildings into the style on Chicago later on but I have not gotten around to this yet. Midway is almost done - half finished.

 

So this is open to anyone to build, update or change around.

 

I plan to get to this myself after i've updated VC and LC.

Important info about map version 5..

 

Map version 5 is on hold as I needed to take a break from endless bug fixing. I will finish off map version 5 in time.

I am putting my time and effect into map version 6 for now and started new topic where everything is being modelled from scratch.

 

It not hard to port the maps to Rage once done and bug-less. I am not into taking short cuts unless I am not changing those models.

@nkjellman

Anyone is allowed to use our models as long as people give credit where due. You would want the same if people used your material.

 

@You Muppets who use the term HD so, so - so wrongly. Why do people refer to models being in HD? it's completely the wrong terminology. HD stands for High Definition and nothing else. unless your on some IRC's and want the Help Desk.

 

The screen resolution sizes that consist of 720p, 1080p, HD / OR 2160p, 4320p UHD I want an 8K UHD monitor one day.

 

So.. If we are going to update the models in game these will become High Quality with higher pixel size textures.

GTA III used mostly 64x64 or 128x128 8bit textures / LODs was mostly 16x16 or 32x32 textures.

 

VC used 128x128 to 256x256 16bit textures with mostly 32x32 sized textures LODs

 

SA wasn't that much different to VC except the textures could go up to 512x512 with up to 64x64 LODs.

 

Map version 6 only; I am reworking the models with 24bit textures mostly all 256x256 where needed apart from some 512x512 or 1028x1028 textures where these will not lag the game. LODs will be totally remade to use either 64x64 or 128x128 bit textures.

 

The hope here is to have a clean map free of the woes and issues of the past, only when will we think about Rage.

 

This is going to take a long time, so please do not expect any releases yet.

If you want some help on designing and laying out the buildings, just PM me. You may want to change some things on the land to make it look even closer. I wouldn't say much. Your street layout is a great start. For example I'd say you should move the river so it runs through the downtown area.

If the elevater bridge in LC goes up and down, you could try making the bridges go up and down. But I wouldn't say too frequently. But this may not be possible as I heard that VC doesn't allow for too many moving props.

I also have LC and SA to think about, but I've almost finished the beta maps for VC, Airport, Docks, and Midway. I will move VC to the east once finish to leave room for Chicago.

 

If you want to join a team and help me m8, Please do, many people seem to say they want to join SOL but never do, what is it 'Do a smell or something'??.

 

I want the help I can not understate this without going into the requests topic and start to bug. I also need people who can write- story lines and the information shown on these boards needs continuous updating

 

You see I have a ton of work to do.. it's only me right now and I never wanted it to turn out like this.

I am in the process of converting levels from Manhunt to SA. I am hoping this will be done as quickly as possible with very little mistakes/errors. Once they are converted I'll upload the files for anyone to use, to play around with etc. I will not release these models as my own work as they are owned by Rockstar Games and are free for anyone to use! Once released if anyone uses them in a modification, you won't need permission from me!

SOL Bit Eh? No But Looks Great. And Since SOL Is only on vice city's engine At The Moment

 

SOL is also SA but I've had my own issues with hacks, I've never released mine yet but in time I will if I'm able to crack some other limits. I have flicking models over the bounds depending on viewing angle.

 

I've reduced objects without taking out the LODs for starters. but now merging high quality models is something i'm working on for one large LOD for each IPL file has been tested and works well. 10 large LODs for VC.

 

SOL does not use maps from other mods (In map version 5), I've converted everything now myself to RW3.4 that can be used either on VC or SA and what couldn't be converted I modelled. however in Map version 6 everything is being remodelled from scratch so things aren't going to be the same anymore. I have the same file setup for both VC and SA, using the same IDs, this allows me to use KED to move objects in VC and then update the IPL for SA.

 

The main difference between this mod and mine is I've incorporated parts from the beta maps and stories maps LCS and VCS to increase the over all size of the game map.

 

Well done by the way what I see is good steady progress you can use models from SOL when it's next released.

Just done converting estate_ext, took around 20 minutes which isn't too bad. No bugs so far...yet!

I agree, I would like to see the mansion closer. Looks real nice but I want to check out the UV mapping.

This is what I'll do, add you to my Dropbox I have a lot of space so this way we can swap files.
