Photo mode: what this game really needs...

Recommended Posts

...so to speak. I know the game doesn't need jack, we all have that point clear.

However... while the snapmatic function has many tools to get some nice shots that you can take in a free roam session, a photo mode would actually boost the game for a few reasons.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, is more than a simple "air cam" mode like the one that appeared on the PC version of GTA IV. I'm talking about a diferent game mode where you have tools, scenarios, objects, poses, filters and whatever you need to make images.

Let's suppose you want an image of your car but some angle you want is impossible because the ilumination isn't helping or the location you'd like is too dark. In the photo mode you choose your car, select a special scenario for the photo, put special colored lights (neon, natural, etc) in order to highlight what you want and you add your character standing next to the car in a pose you couldn't get in-game.

Stuff like that, a lot of us would love a mode where we can stand next to our favorite car and take a photo. Now, you maybe are asking... how is this going to boost a game where people only care about killing and glitching money?

Simple: crews.

It could be a good way to promote crews or having prizes like in-game money and RP. I imagine a weekly contest where Rockstar promotes the best crew custom pictures (like a MC or a racing crew, all the players and their cars in a parking lot). Excuse the comparison, but if you played Halo around 2007/2011 Bungie always featured the best videos/photos on the community and they used to get rewards like being in the weekly update in their website or the special nameplate next your gamertag.

Would something like that work in the GTA community? I think so, the point is to spice the game so our characters/vehicles can be shown. With all the customization and unique combinations we can get on our avatars I think it could be approached more... perhaps some in-game website where we can meet friends posting our image or watching images of other players, check their profiles and join crews/find people with similar gaming profiles instead of testing our luck in lobbies where you're going to be blasted the second you approach someone.

This is a good alternative since Rockstar isn't planning friendly lobbies, also if you want to role-play or find new people to stunt you could do it easier. I'm sure it'd work since inmature people wouldn't mind about something like that.

Other uses the photo mode could have:

- Use your images as a background on your cellphone (I'd love a picture of my Coquette)

- Create wallpapers on Social Club for your computer/laptop/tablet

A bit dreamy and nearly impossible, I know, but I thought I could share it in here.

Not likely, and probably would never happen on console but on PC it'd be interesting. Something sort of like source film maker, yeah?

Even then. W/o a dedicated piece of software, I suspect a lot of what you want will be possible come GTA V's PC release w/ a trainer and fraps (or whatever the f*ck someone uses to take images)

Yeah, in console seems impossible. But as Rockstar said, GTA Online is a world constantly growing up. Maybe I went too far but that's the idea and why I think it could work.

Really?
No. Gimme the TL/DR
It's Friday night here. I gotta cover an employees shift in six hours.

This isn't Twitter, smartass.

As cool as this sounds, I think it's too complex to add as a standalone thing, while a lot of those into photography and cinematics would use it, most players wouldn't touch it. But we do desprately need an update for the camera movement.

It's extremely irritating to have such limited movement, when we load up snapmatic we should have a free roam camera, like in the creator to a degree. We can slightly move the camera when taking a self portrait, why can't we move it at all taking a normal picture?
