Does driveway / frnt of house act as a storage space?

I never did this when I lived in the city, but since moving to PB I often park on my driveway or in front of my house when finishing a session. Then when I start up the game again, there it is, parked outside.

 

Makes me wonder if this means a seventh vehicle can be stored at a property with a six-car garage.

No. You still only get 6 spots. If you leave a vehicle out of the garage. It will spawn wherever you spawn. This happens with 10 car apartments as well. The vehicle will be parked on the street in front of your apartment that you spawn in.
