Red Hat
I know people said you could revert back to an older Windows, so I'm guessing this is what this new partition is on my HDD. There's a new partition with 347MB on it. Does anyone else have this? I wanna get rid of it because I already made a clone of the original Win 7 boot partition, but I just wanna make sure before I change anything that this new partition is a backup of the old OS. Don't format or delete that. I believe that to be the "System Reserved" partition, that's where your Boot Manager and Boot Configuration Data are stored. Yes, everyone has a "System Reserved" partition, it's hidden. Edited August 1, 2015 by Kevin3014
Parik
@Kevin , the reserved partition is of 100 MB. So ,that cannot be the system reserved partition
TheMcSame
@Kevin , the reserved partition is of 100 MB. So ,that cannot be the system reserved partition Regardless of what it is, it's some partitions that've been created by the system itself. As I mentioned before, it's likely a recovery partition and an EFI partition. It's best not to mess with them imo, I mean, they're only taking up like 430mb. On another note, shame on @X S for using a HDD as a boot drive. Nah, not really, though I would really recommend an SSD, once you try it you'll never go back. Also, I'm using a very old x58 motherboard, CSM legacy, so I don't have UEFI. I don't need a new mobo because I leave my PC on 24/7, and my 1st Gen i7 is running at 4.0GHz anyway. As for SSD's, I'll be making that move once the price of a 1TB plummets. I don't feel the need to shell out $380 for a 1TB SSD.

That's because Windows 8/10 boot manager doesn't fit inside the 100 MB boot partition. That's why newer PCs and PCs that has been partitioned by the Windows 8/10 setup will have a 350-400 MB boot partition instead of 100 MB. You should be fine deleting the 100 MB one. @Kevin , the reserved partition is of 100 MB. So ,that cannot be the system reserved partition That's for Windows Vista/7. 8/10 increased the boot (System Reserved) partition size to 300-400 MB thanks to its boot GUI. That means it's still booting off the Windows 7 boot loader. I'd suggest leaving it intact or go with EasyBCD and move the boot loader to the 350 MB partition. So basically currently your PC is booting off the 100 MB partition with the GUI assets from the 350 MB partition. TJGM
Since I use my PC practically everyday, I was thinking I'd buy a Windows phone and start making use of all these apps that are now on my PC and laptop. I tried Groove music and the only way I could sign in was via an Xbox account.. what a dumb and terrible thing. Why would I need an Xbox account for a music app on PC? Why can't I just sign in via my Microsoft account? I sign into my PC with it every day, what makes this music app different? Stuff like this is extremely silly, I don't want an Xbox account because I don't have a God damn Xbox. I have absolutely no idea why they force stuff like this upon users. In other news, the experience has been nice so far. I'm still having issues with System taking up too much RAM on both my laptop and PC and I have no idea what's causing it, tried all the tweaks out there for the issue and nothing resolves it. I'm also unable to change my avatar on my PC, the avatar is working fine on my laptop and Outlook account, but once I go onto my PC it's not there and changing it results in an error. trip
My RAM usage has dropped, even my disk usage (as in I/O) has dropped. Same here. Although, I'm not sure how sh*tted up my Win 7 was to let me gauge any true difference - might just be a result of my clean 10 install. I'm liking 10. I was on 7 since beta so it has been awhile for me and any big OS changes. I kind of miss my transparent windows though. 10 seems so sterile. If you don't have an XBL account linked with your Microsoft account it asks you to create an XBL account, which I'm not doing since I don't have an Xbox and I don't want an account for one. Not all of us are willing to create accounts for useless things, it's messy and unnecessary. I didn't make a big deal out of this either, I just claimed it's fairly silly that I need an XBL account in order to sign into a music app and you took it way out of proportion as if I said the entire OS is terrible because of this one issue despite the fact that I praised it in my original post. Calm it down, there really isn't any need to get so defensive. Moving Idiot
X S
Groove Music used to be Xbox Music. That's why. They probably haven't completely shifted focus away from the Xbox element of membership yet, so I would suggest just dealing with it for now, especially if you plan to buy a Windows Phone. Expect the Xbox element of their products to only increase, especially with mobile games. Which I guess brings me to this topic: Windows 10 and gaming. I won't get into it much, but it's obvious that MSFT is trying to build an entire ecosystem around their products. Phil Spencer recently addressed this. http://www.businessinsider.com/windows-10-games-2015-3 The way forward, then, is in changing how Microsoft thinks about its customers: They're not people who play games on Windows PCs, or tablets, or consoles. They're customers of the Xbox Live service. That means that games can and should work across multiple devices, with the same friends list and the same high scores, and people should be able to play each other no matter what device they're on. "Xbox" no longer means consoles, said Spencer. It means "gaming with Microsoft." Edited August 5, 2015 by X S
gizmo
It's like making a Youtube account meant you were tied to a Google+ account. Does that help clarify? I had RAM problems but they seem to be fixed. When I first start my machine Cortana Background Task Host eats a TON of RAM though and it lasts about 5 minutes before disappearing. That was when I had 6GB of RAM. Now with 16GB of RAM Cortana takes up about 60% of total memory when "doing its thing." It shoots up to almost 10,000MB being used for whatever the hell it does. $$H New York Crew

I agree with McSame. lol Just sign into your Live account, open the app and click continue. There is no extra step. I tested this out myself with a Live account that has no Xbox Gamertag tied to it(which you could change yourself later if your decide to get an Xbox). Like I said before, it just adds an Xbox profile to your account. ________ My ram % is usually around under 10%, I never saw that Cortana host task but everything on my end seems fine. Except the occasional problem I get with firefox, were it just lags and get all of these script errors, so I have to restart then. Though, not many times. Ryan
Patiently waited to get the notification I could download Windows 10 but never got it so I went ahead and manually and downloaded it the other day. richard1997jones
Just updated my laptop which had windows 8.1 on it to windows 10. Have to say its far more user freindly than windows 8 but because I hated windows 8 I had already changed the layout to bring back a start button using something called "windows shell" and although windows 10 is similar to this design it still seems a bit too much like windows 8 still. At least its not as buggy as using "windows shell" and it seems to be better but I'll wait and see how it goes.
