Drill Sergeant
If anyone upgraded from Windows 7/8.1 to Windows 10 , which build you got? 10240? I currently have 10240. I was a insider tho. I guess 10240 was the official release build.
Parik
OK , I was thinking if there was a difference in the insider build 10240 and the build that you get when you upgrade
Gouveia
So, I updated via Obviously's method, but it didn't activate for me (even though it shows my license). The thing is: I used the same license on my laptop and my desktop (which has Windows 10 now) - which was a perk on student licenses. It doesn't even give me an error code, just a generic "Windows couldn't activate, try again later". Still, this looks pretty good. Pretty good indeed. EDIT: Okay, it said my license is invalid, even though it worked on Windows 8.1. What the f*ck? Edited July 29, 2015 by Gouveia

TJGM
Really like it so far. My only issues right now are design wise, which is the fact that our profile avatars are circles instead of squares like 8.1 (looks ugly for avatars that aren't actual pictures of people). The other being the fact that we can no longer change the color of borders around windows, they always stay white which can look quite ugly when running darker programs like Tweetdeck. Too bad I guess, one of my favorite things about 8.1 was how the borders around windows looked, especially when you changed the color to blue. SHXC
EDIT: Okay, it said my license is invalid, even though it worked on Windows 8.1. What the f*ck? Like, actually invalid or just not activated? My Windows 7 HP showed as genuine and activated, and now that I've upgraded to W10 it has my licence and key there but it says it's not activated. I'm not too worried since I assume it's either a small glitch or someone will find a workaround.
TJGM
@Fleckz I seen your screenshot in the other thread and I noticed you had pinned stuff like documents onto your start menu, how did you do it? Everytime I pin something it gets put into the metro section of the start menu and I can't drag them over to the left side of the start menu. Everytime I pin something it gets put into the metro section of the start menu and I can't drag them over to the left side of the start menu. Start > Settings > Personalisation > Start > At the bottom it says "Choose which folders appear on Start". et voila. Gouveia, Seems like a LOT of people are having a problem activating, so I'm not sweating it. TJGM
Wow, that is a lot better. Too bad we can't add any folder we want and it's only a select few. Thanks.
gizmo
I've been using it a bit now and am enjoying the experience. It really is the best of Windows 7 mixed with the best of Windows 8 wrapped up neatly. I am having problems only with the Action Center notifications not notifying me when I receive a new email but other than that, everything is great. PoeticWhisper
I just upgraded. It went smooth, from windows 7 to 10. I have no complaints so far. I mean, my mouse occasionally loads for a few seconds randomly, but that is to be expected since it is a new OS install. Also, the stuff on the taskbar occasionally like disappears for a split second and comes back every now and again. Other than that, everything transferred over perfectly, nothing is missing I am quite happy. Setting up all my apps now. Microsoft edge is pretty meh though. I can't use the scroll option on my trackpad and it was a little slow compared to chrome. So I'm sticking with chrome for now.

Should all be fine soon Yeah, figured out it'd be a first day problem. Gonna risk and upgrade my laptop too (it's the one I use to work). It's usable without the activation, so I should be good (plus, Windows Update isn't working on this laptop, so might as well fix that)
Rewas
Oh so it shows your Windows product key when installing Windows 10? In Windows FAQ, it says that the key is located in a DVD, but I don't have such a thing. I don't want to try installing it without knowing my key. X S
Windows 10, nor Windows 7 or 8 ever needed to be activated on installation. You can simply cancel or skip that prompt when asked. You'll just be asked to enter your key at a later date once it's up and running.
SHXC
Read something on reddit that if you're trying to activate and it says try again later, just mash the button for a minute and it should work. Just activated mine. Anyone used the xbox app yet? That stream to PC sh*t is amazing. I can usually only play xbox or use pc one at a time due to only having 1 HDMI cable. Is a little laggy and choppy sometimes but I'm still pretty impressed. Can only get better from here. Now, all I need is to be able to download MC Windows 10 Edition and I'll be set. Amazing so far, I'm really happy with it. Whoa, the same rule applies to downloading the Minecraft Beta! Windows button + g, to bring it up. It'll record to your computer obviously, but still cool. Obviously

I like mine being semi transparent to see the background, or at least semi black to make it not as white/bright. Also miss gadgets, I used that to have Pandora play without having windows open. Hopefully can find some place to download something like that again. Edited July 29, 2015 by GTA3Rockstar

I actually liked how it wasn't transparent in 8.1, I thought it looked fantastic when you change the color to something like blue, but plain white is way too bright and doesn't look great for a lot of things. X S
I think the transparency was technically a resource hog, in both Windows 7 and the limited transparency in 8. Edit: Also, just found this. I turned my taskbar blue. Also, underneath that. It says transparency is on, but I don't really see it.
