Flachbau
I would probably consider it if I built a decent PC. I would love to explore what they've built upon for years and years. My favorite thing has to be the universal icons that are shared between iOS and the recent OS X updates.

X S
So I'm hearing from many others that the Windows 10 optimizations are yielding higher frame rates with games including GTA V, citing 5-10 extra frames with GTA V. 018361

X S
So I was thinking of just upgrading to Windows 10 using this method: https://skinpacks.com/download/windows-7/windows-9-skin-pack/ >.> <.< Just upgrade to windows 10 legitimately. It's free and it's worth it. I just wanted to seriously answer this for a second, because I was just being sarcastic in the original post. I don't think I can get it free because I don't have a genuine copy of Windows 7. Does anyone know how it actually works? Am I reading right, that you're given a year until you fully authenticate it (purchase it)? That would mean it's free for an entire year, despite any type of Windows copy you have. I'm also concerned with these rumors that it will be subscription-based with regards to future updates. Reason I ask, my current Window 7 is a little wacky at the moment. I plugged in some random HDD that had a virus on it, and it tried messing with my folder permissions. I should've known better than that. Uggghh. It's free for a year after July 29th 2015 So your cutoff to get a genuine copy and upgrade is July 29th 2016 Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 are the same price. I don't know if they sell Windows 7 anymore but you can probably find a good key somewhere online to purchase. X S 1 $$H New York Crew
Andreaz1
Am I reading rightNo. After July 29th the offer to upgrade for free is valid for one year. If you upgrade within that time period your Windows 10 will be real and full, no limitations, no payments required. Upgrading doesn't make a pirated copy of 7 into a legitimate copy of 10. Pretty excited to get off of Windows 7, especially since I actually liked Windows 8. EDIT: Installed on laptop. Very nice so far, I like the taskbar design window borders look nice like 8.1, start menu is great, etc.. no complaints here, very solid so far. yoječ
Do you guys know if it's possible to do a clean install of Windows 10 if I have Win7/8.1 currently? I'd assume that simply typing 7/8.1 key won't work, so how do I go around that? I don't want to update because it's high time I've reinstalled the OS. yoječ
Alright, from what I could gather if you want to use your existing 7/8.1 licence, you have to do an upgrade first, so that the licence gets bound to your Microsoft account (or whatever it's called). Only then you can do a clean install. That's lame Especially as this implicates, that using Microsoft account would be mandatory.
