Marksman Rifle Epidemic

Oh hey awesome we can move while zoomed in, and it's a semi-auto (actually full auto as the game fires for you) sniper!!!11!!!1!

 

Admittedly, this is what I first thought of the marksman rifle, and I'm sure many of you thought the same. But about a week after it was added to the game, I was beginning to notice that it was being used, everywhere, it becoming the first weapon people turn to in all but really close combat range.

 

Months later, no change whatsoever. Nearly everyone who engages not only me, but many others as well, in a firefight begins by using this cheap rifle.

Now don't get me wrong, sometimes it's easy to overcome someone using it, but other times, it's impossible if you don't get into cover immediately. No one actually uses the right analog stick to aim the rifle, but they strafe left and right which is somehow extremely accurate, and undodgeable. Really, you cannot dodge it even by snaking, or, serpentine maneuver. You'll notice this especially in the desert, or any open area really.

 

Assault rifles become useless, other sniper rifles make you become a sitting duck, even the minigun gets outgunned due to having slow movement and less range than the rifle. The only way to counter it, is by using it, and even that may not work because getting hits are "random"; no one aims, just strafe and hope that the shot hits.

 

Don't get me started on what it's like to face a group of people who decide to jump you using only the marksman rifle, good f*cking luck escaping that situation without either turning passive mode on, or leaving the game.

 

 

..So I'm sure some of you also have had many annoying encounters with people abusing this gun, if you have, what are your thoughts on it? If you haven't figured it out, I despise this weapon in PVP, it's a total noob cannon and it wrecks the fun of player vs player battles more than anything else has before.

 

 

You know what, everyone should state whether they use the weapon or not, in their post, because right now i'm going to assume that everyone who says "no" are part of the annoyance who never equip another weapon.

This gun doesn't need a nerf, it needs to be level locked, along with all other DLC weapons.

While most of the time the heavy sniper rifle kills on one hit, if you have your strength stat full and have full health, you can take up to 3 marksman rifle shots before you die.

The rifle is not cheap. It is not good for really long range shots due to the scope.

 

Get better at it...or don't. Either way stop whining.

If you get killed at close range with a marksmen whilst you are holding a rifle on auto aim, you deserve to die.

 

I will not switch to free aim because of AI Robocops, however I have been using this myself against other players and find it a little bit more satisfying when I get a kill. This is probably the same satisfaction Free Aim Elitists speak of. More importantly however, when I get killed by someone using I really don't mind as much as I do with the people who do the roll out in front of me and empty the drum of the auto shotty in my face.

 

I'm pretty accurate with it and have got endless one shot kills straight to the headand if someone wants to strafe and hope they kill me I can assure you they'll be dead before I am. Having said this, if someone kills me before I can get them, well deserved kill and I'll try harder next time...

 

It could MAYBE have a little recoil added to it, but besides that if you don't like it - adapt. Get in close or get out of scoping range and hard scope yourself.

 

EDIT: I'm glad it's been added to counter 'corner hugging heavy sniper users'

Just my opinion but I really don't think this gun is a problem. S'very weak and overshadowed by better snipers/long range auto-rifles.

I think this movement is to dodge the bullets of the other person as appose to 'hoping' they hit something. I mean if you're not going to move whilst using the rifle you may as well hard scope right?

free aim. although i imagine the gun would still be a nuisance in auto aim.

 

seriously, it's not possible to deal with people using this weapon unless they miss their shots or just suck in general, the thing is OP and everyone defending it is in denial.

The DMR is my favorite long range weapon. I do strafe so I don't completely stand still in the middle of nowhere like the guy with the heavy sniper trying to 1 shot me.

 

If you are gonna use the sniper then don't sit in the middle of nowhere. Get to a good spot or hide in a bush and there won't be any problems. It's really easy to predict their movements most of the time.

 

I honestly can't see how you are having so much trouble defeating them. Just be smarter than they are. If you don't like fighting in the middle of nowhere then do a tactical retreat to a better spot, they will follow you and you will have some time to prepare yourself.

 

The gun is funnier to use in Auto aim since most players aim very badly in there.

id agree with a level lock, but it's still not as good as the heavy sniper on new gen.

 

on old gen it kicks the sh*t out of everything else though just because of the movement.

Can't say anything on this, as I have it – but never use it.

The one weapon I am thoroughly disappointed in is the Homing RPG.

I wanted to use it on jets, but it's useless and it usually targets the jet but ends up hitting an NPC carrying a donut.
