Cheating the game, cheating the fun.

Recommended Posts

I started my gaming life a very long time ago with a Binatone "bat & ball" game. From there i moved onto the Atari 2600, played games on friends ZX80 and 81's. Owned an Amstrad CPC464 (colour) and also played on many friends Commodore 64's. From there i went Playstation 1 & 2, friends Xbox's and my parents PC. This led me to PC gaming because it's the height of gaming platforms. I've spent thousands over the years on my PC set-ups and enjoyed every one of them. But i have one concern as the final release of GTA V is approaching...

Cheating.

Because i couldn't wait i bought a PS3 for GTA.

Although i was 41 years old i couldn't help it. GTA has been a forefront game for me and i couldn't wait.

Cheating.

There have been many cheats in the old gen version of the game, almost to the point of breaking it. That said, there are many more players that enjoy the game for what it is and those moments are special.

So my question is this - are any of my fellow PC gamers looking forward to breaking the game after it's been released or are we all looking forward to enjoying it for what it is?

Mods included. For me, mods in GTA IV were great after the game was well and truely beaten and not on day one of release.

There will ALWAYS be cheaters no matter the subject. Humanity are like water. We are always looking for the easy way out and if we can squeeze though a hole in the bottom why should we climb out of the bag?

I like that and you're right.

But my mind says - wouldn't it be nice just to accept what the programmers have given us and just like it the way it is.

Exploring the new world is pretty amazing when it comes to details. There's even Lost Dog posters on telegraph poles that are unique. 'My fear' is all that has gone into this epic adventure will be lost with the advent of cheaters. 'My hope' is PC gamers will make evident it's glory.

Yeah dont get me wrong there will be people who enjoy it for what it is, but at the same time we all know there will be cheaters and the like

I would rather people exploit the game and deny rockstar any shark card money rather than have them pirate the game. I still have $10 million from a money glitch as well as 15 adders (buggatis) to sell, so I won't need anymore anyway. As for singleplayer, I found the game to be pretty dead after 100 hours in the story and free roam, and since the in game cheats were pretty poor, I would mod the game in ways that would make it more fun.

Cheats and mods in singleplayer are fine, if you use them in multiplayer you are an asshole.

yeah a LOT of people online cheat in one way or another and im talking like around a quarter. Be it running scripts or intentionally glitching. I mean FFS the people that play on console and use these forums have deluded themselves into thinking SP-MP glitching isnt even cheating because it should have been in MP in the first place.... like WTF kind of mentality is that?

Thats exactly what i'm getting at. Exploits and cheats. There's no point in playing the game with that mentality.

"Yeah , it was fun for like, 2 months or so, then i got bored. No idea why."

You are correct, it does ruin the game.

But Rockstar giving the players and community terrible missions that take 10+ mins just so you get 10k is also ridiculous and is what fuels people to exploit and use glitches to attain the $$$ they want instead of buying shark cards.

See this is what Im talking about. People justify cheating because (insert sh*tty excuse here).

Why play the game when I can just cheat, get everything I want and then be done with it?

You consider it a "sh*tty excuse" but if you were playing GTAO from the beginning, it is very clear that Rockstar purposely nerfed all missions to give wayyyy lower $$$ so then we the consumers appeal to the shark cards.

I played since day 1 but I just dont play anymore well maybe once a month for a few hours to see whats new. I know they nerfed everything BUT you can still get good money by just playing the game. Gone are the 16 coveted or potshot days but you must admit that wasnt exactly fun and engaging gameplay. We all just did what needed to be done in order to get ahead with our garages basically

The thing is, online, PC gamers will meet and and get ganked by those cheaters. I Think it safe to say their will be alot of PC players that will retaliate with the same measures they got gank with.

The only way is to not let ppl transfer their account from console, and make PC-gamer servers only. But we all know this is not gonna happen.

So ppl will exploit glitches.

What rubbish. I've been playing GTA:O since October 2013 on both the 360 and PS3 (yes, 3), and it's been a looong time since I've felt that I'm not earning enough in-game.

Heck, missions are at it's best right now with properly balanced pay outs that, as a result, has reduced the need for grinding the same mission (Rooftop Rumble, looking at you) over and over.

R* has made available multiple options to increase how much you earn: play on Hard (it's not tough in reality!), play with Crew members, play with Friends for added bonus XP and cash.

You are not limited to doing missions either: go do a race, DM, sell a Simeon car, etc. There's a reason I sit on well over $10 million+ today in GTA:O, having bought both the Rhino and Buzzard as well as 3 properties full with vehicles all mostly modded as well. I end each session I play with a minimum 50k-70k. You are not playing properly man.

OT: cheating is ok to some extent. In single player it's harmless fun, and if done in moderation and good intent, in Online as well (those modders who spawn in the big ass cargo plane  ). I agree though, playing the game for what it is is certainly something we should follow when on the first play through. R* made a magnificent, though a bit flawed, world for us to explore.

Max Payne 3 has a system where cheaters and hackers are put in a bad sport lobby and never allowed to join a normal lobby. I am sure GTA V will have the same too. GTAO is Rockstar's biggest achievement till date. They won't let it slip by just like that.

They already have it on the console versions. Bad Sport and Cheater's pool.

So leveldocksix are your over 10 million coming mostly from the sell any car glitch, Thats easy about 700K per sell for a car that you never bought, found, just glitched the game to think the cheapest car is the most expensive;)

And this is why I probebly either stay away from online, or just play with friends. Since most of consol owners got their Money this way.

They nerfed things here and there but you can make 100k in a few hours of playing if you focus on missions even if doing them alone. Making good cash is

not hard at all.

If you could make 1,000,000 in an hour or less game would get extremely boring quickly.

Luckily they have a 'cash earned' statistic which helps separate the cheaters from the legit players to an extent. If they have made millions from car sales you can safely say they have abused a glitch or cheated to earn it. I'm glad I wasn't around when the bounty's went crazy and people was earning 100's of millions and just handing it to everyone (everyone became rich but had there money removed and a lot of people now have a negative earning statistic).

The stats don't lie lol

Personally I hate cheaters and don't see the point in it, your absolutely spot on with the title of this thread.... Cheating the game, Cheating the fun.

Agreed.

So Leveldocksix, what you are saying there is a reason why you sitting on 10 million and have all the cars an apartments, and that Bolcksta does not play the game right.

I looked at your profile 78% of your income comes from car sales. 26,8 million in car sales. Seem like that have funded those cars that help you win races.

Yup we PC-players have loads to work against, and I can see what you think is cheating to some extent. And that we dont have the same moral value what we call some extent;)

We have already planned a group which will play Online together. We are now about 14-15 players so it will be fun if we will play some freeroam PVP or Group vs Group. It will also have one big plus and that is that there will be no cheaters in lobby or how it will be called (server, lobby,w.ever)

I'm glad the general consensus is a resounding 'no'.

I've been looking forward to GTA V coming to PC for a very long time and would hate to see it ruined early on.

But i do agree with the others in single player mode - play the game, beat the game, maybe add some mods and cheats afterwards but for online - just leave it in the beauty it was designed.
