My least favorite has to be the LCS/VCS games.. just couldn't get into them. VCS, imo, was at least a bit better than LCS.

Most favorite has to be San Andreas. I practically grew up playing it.. and I'm pretty normal for the most part, right? :p

Favourite to least favourite:

1. V - Story and driving might not have been as good as in IV, but I just had more fun in the game. Best map imo.

2. IV (+EFLC) - Very close second. Best driving, physics, atmosphere, story, and best overall city.

3. San Andreas

4. Vice City

5. VCS

6. LCS

7. GTA2

8. GTAIII

9. Chinatown Wars

10. GTA

11: London 1969

Only games I haven't played are London 1961 and Advance.

i wouldn't rate III as it was my intro to the series.

My favorite is a tie between IV plus the episodes and SA. IV has the most immersive gta map imo (which, to me, is the most crucial aspect of an open world game). Probably the only map that really felt alive! Decent story and memorable characters, i swear i replayed the storyline (vanilla and eflc combined) close to 50 times, plus lots of free roam, exploring every corner of the map and fooling around ( i do this in between missions)

Regarding SA, well, huge world, clever map design, lots of interesting characters, lots of content, best gta story imo, i like the way it takes you all around the map through different settings, plus tons and tons and tons of free roam.

comparing with the other gta's in the series, my least favorite is GTA V. It just doesn't feel right for me.. It feels way too scripted and attention focused in directions that i, personally, don't really care for or enjoy. The graphics is stunning (obviously), but the map, imo, is just stupid. I've read that from a technical standpoint, it is a marvelous achievement, i will just take the expert's word on that. The gameplay is indeed very smooth. I have a list of other reasons but half of them has been discussed in other posts, so i will not comment on them further.

San Andreas - It's the game I look back on with the most good memories from the GTA series. Along with Star Wars Battlefront II, it was my favourite PS2 game. I won't make a list about everything I liked about it or I'd be here all day.

GTA V - Despite it's flaws, it's still a great game. Outstanding graphics, the best shooting & flying controls in the series. Driving controls are great too although the physics can be somewhat strange (I do prefer it to IV's land yacht physics though). I do wish they'd been things like Vigilante missions, more cheat codes (peds riot etc) and a longer & more criminal SP campaign. No storyline DLC has annoyed me.

GTA Online - I've been a lifelong single player fan so it pains me to add this to the list. Online also has many many flaws & I do feel like V had less in it due to Rockstar's MP focus. But I can't deny how much fun I've had & I've spent more time in Online than V.

Vice City - Another PS2 classic. I never really played GTA III so this was my first real experience in the 3D world of GTA. It completely blew me away & I loved every minute of it. I did go back & play it before V came out & I did find it somewhat dated but it's still a fun game.

GTA IV/EFLC - I was disappointed with this after loving San Andreas. I understand why many like it but I found it was dull, uninspiring & somewhat boring in comparsion to the previous game. No fixed wing aircraft, a limited helicopter selection, land yacht driving controls, boring cheat codes, no garages, lack of customisation for cars & irritating side missions meant that I never really got into it. EFLC improved it slightly but I wouldn't say I was a massive fan. Still, I saw GTA IV as a game to test the waters of the PS3/360 & I was excited for what Rockstar might develop as they began to harness the power of those two consoles. The shooting controls were a step up from the PS2 era & the graphics were very good for the time.

Vice City Stories - Decent enough but not amazing. I liked Vic Vance, his background & how the storyline led upto VC.

GTA 2 - I don't think I ever completed a single mission but that's because I had too much fun using cars with weapons attached. I wish modern GTA games had implemented this on a larger scale but the balancing issues of GTA Online will probably rule it out. (it would have been great if the offline version of the JB700 would have had inbulit weapons.

GTA/GTA III - I played the first game on demo & loved it, especially driving across the gap in the bridge. I never owned the full game. I can't really comment on GTA III either, I only played it once at a friend's house.

The rest I've never played.

vice city will always hold a special place in my heart because of nostalgia but after a four hour playthrough yester day i have to say gta san andreas is my favorite. i spent 4 hours free roaming i.e. taggging. dating denise , doing lowrider competitions, shooting pool, doing gang territory shootouts -taking over/protecting territories exploring los santos , going to the shooting range and thats just the city of los santos i just reached whet stone this morning and i'm with catalina. i spent 30 minutes trying to beat reuniting the families last night. i couldn't beat the chase scene untill i played it again this morning. the game is huge content wise. this is the sandbox game that gave birth to your gta IV'S your saints row 2's etc.

my two favorites are gta 5 and gta 4. but since gta 5 gets way to much hate i voted for 5. its such a great game and while yes the story was shorter than normal i garuntee that if gta 5 was as long as gta 4 people would have bitched about how boring it was. my least favorite is gta 3. i hate claude. and the story is so random. not to mention there is not much to do either. then again i know alot of people started with 3 so i will respect your opinion.

My least favorite Grand Theft Auto game is Chinatown Wars and my favorite Grand Theft Auto must be San Andreas. I still remember how I used to roleplay and drive around the state. I had so much fun, I had much more fun with San Andreas then with Grand Theft Auto V.

My least favorite was Advance, but it's so forgotten it wasn't even included in this list. Let me make a best to worst list here.

1) Grand Theft Auto IV, of course! The storyline, the characters, the detailed map, it's all so incredible! Niko is also my favorite protagonist.

2) San Andreas was the first GTA game I ever played. I love all about it too, but GTA IV's storyline seems to be better to me.

3) Grand Theft Auto V! The storyline isn't that good, but the gameplay is so crazy, you can pretty much do everything.

4) The Ballad of Gay Tony shows us the nightlife of Liberty City, in a world where everyone has a price, as the game says itself.

5) Vice City is a vicious game, where you build a drug empire in a city corrupted by gang wars. And Rosenberg was cool. And saying this game is utterly sh*t is nearly a crime.

6) Vice City Stories revisits VC on the eyes of Vic Vance who loses his job due to his corrupted boss, and here, you can build an empire too, but in a new, amazing way. Seriously, Empire Building NEEDS to come back.

7) Grand Theft Auto III was a revolution to the series, bringing it to the 3D Universe. I find it kind of boring in the beginning, but once going to Staunton Island, it gets just amazing to me.

8) Liberty City Stories had Vice City's gameplay and a storyline that wasn't that good. I enjoyed it, nevertheless, because Toni was a badass.

9) The Lost and Damned is as sad and deep as the vanilla game, but something on it just doesn't feel right. Maybe Johnny's weird way of sprinting.

10) Chinatown Wars is pretty good for a handheld game. The gameplay is funny, there are cool characters, but... Huang, you suck.

11) Grand Theft Auto 2 is the last and the best of the top-down games. That ElectroGun was funny as hell.

12) Grand Theft Auto, the first one. Gameplay wasn't that good and it got zero storyline. But killing people with the Machine Gun was still cool.

13/14) London, 1969 and London, 1961 were just a London version of the first game. But killing people with a Machine Gun was still cool.

15) Advance was a top-down game released when those amazing 3D games were already out there, it was a regression. Storyline was kind of cool, but who wants to play such a game, as it was released alongside that precious pearl called San Andreas?

My favorite GTA is most definitely Vice City, mainly because i played it throughout my childhood. (and it featured a fully voiced protagonist)

But my least favorite has to be Chinatown Wars.

Although the lock-picking and drug dealing was pretty cool. I just didn't find myself playing it much.

Most favourite is VCS, love the atmosphere in the game. Vice City is done so much better in VCS. The melee combat in VCS is awesome. New activities like Air Rescue & Empire Building make it awesome. Next favourite is SA, free roam is endless in that game. Still don't think I've done everything in the game. Then comes VC, my first GTA.

Least favourite is GTA Snore, popularly known as GTA IV. Approximately about 94.5% of this game was either boring or straight up crap(those pigeons)

Vice City is the best, V is the worst!!!

GTA V's not perfect, but it's fine. You can't say it's the worst when we got games like GTA Advance out there.

To be fair you can't really take Advance into comparison. It's a tiny GBA game ffs. What can you expect from it.

It's still a GTA game, isn't it? It's seems that even R* didn't want it to be popular. It was released alongside San Andreas, the same f*cking day.

GTA 4 for me because the overall experience is amazing. The city is fantastic and looks amazing, with the attention to detail. You can walk through the streets and never get bored unlike GTA 5. The peds are better too and police officers are funny too. I think the story is a lot better and I prefer the 1 character compared to the 3. I think the driving is better too, just my opinion. Only bad thing about it was the money, you couldn't buy much with it.

2. Vice City

3. GTA San Andreas

4. GTA III

5. GTA V

SA, III, V, 2, IV, VC. SA's map and story, III was such a huge step from anything, love everything from V. Gta 2 was best of old ones, and represents them all. IV was dark and gloomy in good and bad, the world didn't flow as well for me as it could have. And Vice City was great, although it is thesame least favorite for me. Today.

Order might be different in other days.

I can't argue with your points about the city in V. It might be the most detailed GTA world, I have to say. Driving was kind of great in it, too. You could become a great driver, but wasn't it from the get go. A bit too unresponsive.
