What is your favourite / least favourite GTA?

I genuinely enjoyed VCS more than VC even after being clouded with nostalgia from VC, it improves upon VC in every single way (radio is equally good), Vic felt like he had more story and life than Tommy (not saying he is bad, he's good too), just an opinion.

GTA III and Vice City along with stories are my favourites. Grand theft auto V is my least favourite by a country mile.

gta sa and gta vice city are definitely my top 1s on my list i cant chose between those two i had the most fun on those two gtas back in my childhood and my least fav gta v

Oh definitely 4 and San Andreas.

I have the most fond memories of watching my brothers play SA on the Original Xbox blasting their custom music through a flash drive (mainly circa 2006 or earlier Eminem, the Cameltoe song, etc.). I was far too young to play it myself at that time but I'd occasionally sneak in a couple hours here and there just driving a monster truck through the countryside.

 

as for 4, it was the first game I bought with my own pocket money (I'll admit a little late to the party, buying it in 2012 or so.) and despite playing it on a really.. just awful HP notebook, running it at 15FPS on the lowest settings, it was a blast and now with a much beefier desktop rig playing it at 120FPS on highest settings.. just brings me back, man.

Favourite is San Andreas, i'm looking forward to replaying it the most and the least is Gta 3, simply because i played Vice City first and 3 didn't have a lot of what VC added, i should of played them the other way round.

Judging from the polls results i'm not the only one who hates gta v. glad to know that. worst most boring stupid gta ever. i not even finished it, thrown the game in the trashcan after somethin like 10 missions.

My favourite is easily San Andreas (helped by a thick pair of rose tinted goggles) but that seems to be a common opinion anyway. 

As for the least favourite, at least out of what I have played (I have not played Advance and have played very little of 1 and London so I'm not counting any of those), would have to be GTA IV.

It comes from that era of gaming when all big publishers thought every game needed to be "REALISTIC", and GTA IV also shows signs of that. (Luckily this era is largely gone now)

But the problem there for me is that I like GTA when it is unabashedly silly. Other than Roman's antics, there wasn't enough of that in IV. And they tried to tell a serious story for the most part which didn't mesh with the gameplay for me and made it hard to take seriously.

My favourites (Played only) :

 

5-GTA 5 : so much content,guns and vehicles 

 

4-GTA SA : I like his mods and his good music

 

3-GTA VC : Beatifull radios and a good content

 

2-GTA 4 : great story and good radios

 

1-GTA TBOGT : This GTA fixed almost everything from GTA 4 its a masterpiece added a APC, added the buzzard and other cool vehicles, added new guns, new interiors, new things to do, more jobs for earn money, fixed bugs and glitches , the radios , etc

 

The worst its Grand Theft Auto 1 becuase its hard and have a bad gameplay but its ok to be the first GTA

I don't know if it'd be up as high without the online. I love it, despite Rockstar screwing things up every now and then. Didn't like the PS5/XS port announcement though. I would rather have VI.

 

Least Favorite: Grand Theft Auto 2

My cousin brought it over to my house and we had fun... for like 2 hours. It suffers from Crazy Taxi syndrome. Fun in a short burst, then gets boring quick.

Favorite: San Andreas for its size, gameplay and setting. 

 

Least favorite: All of the 2D games. I'm not a fan of top-down like that.

Nobody thinks GTA V is worst than GTA Advance, only a really tiny percentage of this forum's userbase and gta fanbase as a whole played GTAA or even know that game exists, so they are choosing the least favorite game based on what they played, and I would bet most people who voted on GTAA on this poll haven't played that game either.

 

Besides, GTA Advance was not responsible for Rockstar/Take-Two changing into being more corporate, less consumer-friendly, while GTA V is one of if not the main culprit, so the hate is kinda justifiable.

aight but rockstar being more corporate doesn't really matter since they dont even make gta games anymore 

or atleast haven't released anything for a straight 8 years 

also being a large company gave us rdr2 so 

i dont know how being corporate is bad

I can't really hate GTA Advance because it was a GBA game, they did the best they could on a platform that doesn't behoove this kinda game  -

TL&D on the other hand has no excuse for being filled with unlikeable characters and new mechanics that add basically nothing of value.

In terms of nostalgia and the game I’ve played the most, it would be Vice City that I would call my favorite, but in terms of the overall package, story, missions, setting, etc., it would be GTA IV. 
 

I do think GTA V gets way more hate than it deserves though, and I feel like most of that comes from the hate for GTAO and the lack of single player expansions. But while I think it had one of the worst stories in the series, I still think it’s a great game. 
 

I don’t really have a least favorite, and haven’t played much of the 2D and mobile games, but San Andreas used to be my least played and least enjoyed. I don’t have the same nostalgia for it that others have, because Vice City was always my favorite of the trilogy. But it has started really growing on me, and while I don’t care much for the story itself, it’s still a lot of fun and has some great characters.

Really it is hard to tell. Every GTA have something different and therefore unique.

 

GTA 4 had the best story + it had dark and really mature storyline + it represents New York in a way that it should be done.

GTA SA had the amazing atmosphere of 90's LA.

GTA VC had the amzing atmoshpere of 70's Miami.

GTA 5 had modern LA + bank robberies + more mundane problems like struggles with family (cheating wife etc.)

In my opinion, only GTA 3 was not impressive either in terms of story and the city representation. Of course I ignore gemeplay because it is old game but if we compare it with others games from that period of time GTA 3 was worst.

 

I ignore GTA 2 and 1 because this games are really unplayable and archaic right now especially GTA 1.

There are two GTA titles that share my favourite spot, and those are San Andreas and IV. The former is still heaps and bounds more fun for me than V, and IV just had this grounded and gritty atmosphere I couldn't get enough of and was something I was really looking forward to being built upon with the next game. Sure, they're polar opposites in style but I guess that's why I'm so fond of them. Two different experiences that sit side-by-side but wouldn't really gel well if slapped together.

The worst? Eh, I've always found something great in each entry but if I had a gun held to my head I'd probably just have to say GTA 1. Probably hasn't aged well by now and I don't exactly get the same nostalgic feeling I get from other games I was playing at the time such as Silent Hill.
