Nope, that doesn`t count! You can`t just have played a game for a week or so and make up your mind that it`s the best. Give it some more time and you`ll notice all the ills that plague GTA Onli...I mean GTA V, like the lack of non-linear content for one.

I don't think you quite understand how opinions work...it's easy to play a game for a week and have more fun in it than you ever had in other games.

Anyway, V is my favourite - although I think IV had better city, V's world overall is fantastic, which is the most important part for me.

Yeah I think I've played games/gta long enough to know whether a game's good or not, and V is not only the best in the series, but also one of the best games overall imho

Why? Don`t tell me that it`s because of the graphics or the Online.

I don't ever play online.

But the missions are some of the best and varied in the series, best, liveliest, most detailed city/map for me, awesome music, quite a lot to do, exploring, the best vehicles, smart ai drivers even on busy highways (finally)tons of brand new features etc etc. And yes, graphics plays a part as well because the game looks spectacular, and it's one of the best optimized games for pc I've ever played. Even on high settings, absolutely no performance issues whatsoever, even though I don't have the most powerful rig.

I think W2B's opinion on V is far more valid than IV fans' opinion on GTA:Online, seeing as the majority of the fanbase have barely or indeed, not even touched online but continue to bash it blindly.

Vice City had the best storyline.

The best game overall can be either Vice City or San Andreas.

I enjoyed playing GTA IV but the storyline is too dramatic for my taste.

Same goes for TLAD..

Vice City had the best storyline

i can kinda agree with this, VC is just Tommy working his way to the top, which makes for a great game and missions, even though Tommy seems like a robot next to Niko or Victor.

My favorite gtas are:

1)IV

excellent story (not as dark as people think) excellent protag, my favorite map and gameplay in the series by far, great soundtrack and the best DLCs, which adds a lot to the main story and re-play value.

people bitch that there's not much to do, i say the game is near to perfection, it doesn't need much when the content is so well used.

2) Vice City

my favorite protag and soundtrack of the series by far, great story, terrible map and outdated gameplay is high in my list because of nostalgia and Tommy

,i always wanted this game as a kid, so i might be in negation here.

3) V

decent story overrall, good protagonists, the radios are not that bad, good gameplay (but incredibly dumbed out for those who enjoyed the one in IV) really great map and a ton of vehicles, i enjoyed this game because is IV with the playful spirit of the 3D universe, gets a lot of sh*t in this forum, despite his many shortcomings,i still enjoyed it far more than i ever enjoyed SA.

IMO GTA V on CG without a doubt. Why?

The map is amazingly detailed and extremely diverse and beautiful. There's beaches, hills, a wind farm, swamps, a military base, rivers, caves, a big sea, lots of unpaved roads, huge mountains, towns, canyons, small forests, an ocean floor, small villages, a quarry, an offroad track, etc. Best map in the series.

The amount of different vehicles is just insane. Great to see the planes making a return, as well as the bicycles, adding to that the great driving physics that are a slight improvement over IV and the massive car customization options that is a huge improvement over SA.

The story has flaws but is still pretty good and among the three best ones in the series, behind IV and VC's. One thing that V's story has over others in the series is that it feels more "personal". What I mean with this is for example that many missions aren't you working for gang bosses or corrupt cops, yes V has this too but it also has many missions that involve personal things, like Trevor Philips Enterprises or Michael's family. Michael loves movies so it's great to see we get to "work" on one, something he always wanted to do.

The player customization is a huge improvement over the precedessor, even though I don't care much for the tattoo options. I really like the weapon customization that has been added for the first time, with the CG versions the attachable scopes get more useful, though the best attachment is obviously the extended clips. Great to see that the minigun made a return and then there's the hatchet which is one of the best melee weapons in the series.

I like the way how everything kind of feels connected together, like some of the story and strangers & freaks events that get mentioned on the internet or how Steve Haines hosts a show on the TV, past GTA's already did that pretty good but V made it even better. And to add to this, there's actually a back story to pretty much all of the collectibles in V. IV did have this too but it was just a minor detail and then again the flying rats are the worst collectibles in the series. Only thing what 3D era collectibles made better were the rewards. Overall the collectibles are more intersting in V.

With CG V has one of the best soundtracks in the series. LSRR, Non Stop Pop FM and Radio Mirror Park are my favorite stations. The score was a great addition, adding more atmosphere and intensity to the missions.

I think I went a bit too much into detail and forgot about one obvious thing, the graphics of course. Anyway, second place goes to IV and third place to SA.

- San Andreas for being ahead of its time. It was kind of out of this universe back in 2004. No need to explain why.

- IV for bringing the Grand Theft Auto world to life. The world now has much more depth and the city feels like being really there rather than just a backdrop.

Overall it's V. There are things about it that bother me, sure, but to me it's the most refined entry in the series and when it's good, it's SO good.

So my ranking would be something like this:

1. V

2. IV + Episodes

3. San Andreas

4. Vice City

5. III

6. 2

7. Grand Theft Auto

All 3D Era games. These games are still vastly superior over the current games; if you leave aside all graphical aspects and talk about the solid single player with respect to allow for maximum 'emergent gameplay', that sadly, many kids of today don't know and just basically .. ignore, for all the eye candy.

In the current era; full of dumbed down experiences, IV easily wins my vote as the best GTA than GTA V.

And it's not just GTA IV fans with a negative opinion on GTAO. Plenty of VC and SA fans share a similar opinion also. Baseless generalising. Got to love it.

GTAO would probably get more respect if it didn't feel like it took so much away GTA V single player, but you've admitted yourself you still haven't played GTA V yet so how can you possibly know where anyone in favour or against it is coming from?

Yeah, that is probably right, seeing as most of the IV fanbase on this site is made up of bandwagoners.

That is not the point. I am referring to the people who bash it without even playing it. 'Omg GTAO SUCKs, i wont play it coz its an mp game blah blah'. Almost everyone I know of outside of the awful IV and V sections enjoy GTAO and quite a lot of them started GTA with III. They do agree that GTAO is getting more focus but that doesn't stop them from enjoying GTAO.

So, yeah, more than half of the GTA section regulars have no right to judge GTAO, just like I have no right to judge GTA V. A lot of them have even admitted to not even playing it, so how can they know if it's good or not? Atleast you gave it a couple of tries.

I have played online, and understand why GTA:O gets the flak because, some are worried that it could become the potential threat in future for the SP and not just remain an exception with V.

This is important as everyone knows how much focus is required to maintain, create a well-running, stable, and content rich multiplayer experience for nearly 34 million global players, which would fundamentally alter the series, if the trend picks up and spreads out successfully. That already has changed many single players.

I doubt that Take-two, the publishers, who already admitted the online mode as the "gift that keeps on giving" and R* who have some crazy ideas to push online further, are not expecting to see big market and money potential with it. The main motivation for them is probably the already vast fanbase in making them join their multiplayer as a test run with ONLINE, and ultimately driving every SP fan who wants a complete experience to use ONLINE after finishing the story.

My favorite game is GTA III and will always be, but I think the best GTA of all time is by far IV and its DLC. I like every GTA, but IV is the most developed in terms of storytelling, characters, map/details and many other ways in my opinion. I'm never bored when I play it, even when the story is completed, and I "officially" play it since 2010. :p

1 - GTA Vice City: This game was mindblowing for me back then; amazing story with a epic ending, amazing protagonist, a lot of interesting and memorable characters, superbly immersive 80's Vice City setting and feeling, fantastic soundtrack, great graphics for the time, very well made features and gameplay.

2 - GTA San Andreas: Simply the best in the series gameplay wise, the game was indeed revolutionary and ahead of its time; fantastic soundtrack, huge and immersive world, memorable antagonists and characters (though i never really liked CJ).

3 - GTA IV: Probably the best in the series story wise, with a very engaging, serious and deep plot, amazing protagonist, great antagonist and some pretty iconic and unique characters. Fantastic city with a great dark atmosphere and huge attention to details, definitely feeling more alive than V's Los Santos. Also, simply the best driving in the whole series. However, it missed a lot of opportunities and features in terms of gameplay.

4 - GTA V: Huge and amazingly well crafted world with lot of things to do (although some of them feel pointless and childish for a GTA game, like yoga, finding aliens and bigfoot), a good gameplay/features overhaul (except from f****** self regenerating health) from IV. Unfortunetely, the story is average at best and the characters are simply forgettable (except from Trevor, who is simply too crazy and not relatable at all for me). It's still a great game, the PC version is a technical masterpiece that looks stuning and runs very well.

Favourite: San Andreas. As it has been said a billion times before, the amount of content and the feeling of freedom makes it the best. The missions had variety; the story was awesome due to the brilliant characters. Smoke, Ryder, Cesar, The Truth, Woozie, Toreno. These guys along with the returning ones like Salvatore, Rosenberg, Kent Paul and Maccer made it a highly memorable journey. Special mention for Tenpenny and Pulaski.

Least favourite: LCS and GTA V.

Nah nah nah Gta 6

Besides GTA Advance, GTA CTW has to be my least favourite, it's nowhere near a bad game, and I should like it since I love the top down games, but I couldn't get into the story and I didn't like the camera, the combat was great and it did a good job of puting LC on mobile.

I played the android version of the game, and I didn't like the mobile controls for it.
