What is your favourite / least favourite GTA?

Discuss your best and worst GTA according to the story line.

My favorite is GTA San andreas and GTA V (I wish the story line was longer) but GTA SA is my childhood game, can't possibly let it go.

i loved messing about with choppers in VC and doing crazy jumps in III. SA was classic because it was so big and had lots to explore. 2 was fun but an odd game. london was funny.

My personal ranking:

SA > VC > IV = V (this one's gonna cause some hullabaloo among some people) > VCS = III > LCS = CTW > GTA 2 > GTA 1 > GTA London games > Advance

My best GTA overall is V, the NG V that is but i could argue with the aspects.

V- the best visuals, map, cars, aircrafts, modifications, gameplay and diverse missions. Oh and Michael of course, No. GTA protagonist to me

IV- the best story, Niko and gunsounds

EFLC- the best crime activities- Gang and drug wars was the best crime activity outside the missions any GTA had so far

 

I would count SA and VCS as the best 3D era games to me but that was back then untill HD era came out so i`ll pass

I've never noticed GTA for it's story, but to me GTAV and Vice City are tied as my favorites. I felt GTAV brought back the fun to the franchise. Storywise, GTAIII for the silent protagonist.

My dearest of them all GTA: III

 

The one I think is the best GTA: SA which is closely followed by GTA: VC, practically they share No.1 position,

 

Second place IV and V. The same as above. IV is closer to my heart, but imo V is slightly better. (Niko my (possible) countryman! )

 

Third place VCS and LCS. VCS slightly ahead of LCS.

GTA IV's story probably doesn't need much explaining, but I will anyway. From start to finish I identify with Niko's struggles every step of the way. Even if it goes off track it shows how nasty and screwed up Liberty City's underbelly is and what people go through on a daily basis. No matter how many times I complete it the story still draws me in every single time.

 

Even if we weren't judging them on story alone GTA IV and VC would still top my list. They just have so much heart and soul.

Worst story by far is Ballad Of Gay Tony.

GTA IV and VC. Tommy's rise to power is far more satisfying than CJ''s IMO. At the end of VC I felt like I was king of the world. Sure it took elements from Scarface, but it was still a great story to me.

I thought GTA 4's story was weak, especially compared to Lost and the Damned. The latter seemed to have every mission significant in some way, whereas four felt - and you admitted this yourself- a LOT of filler and "if it payz".

I'm in the MVC way, VC and IV at the top followed by SA and the rest. Still haven't played V but I guess it won't change a lot my preferences from what I can see.

Nope, that doesn`t count! You can`t just have played a game for a week or so and make up your mind that it`s the best. Give it some more time and you`ll notice all the ills that plague GTA Onli...I mean GTA V, like the lack of non-linear content for one.

 

The best GTA is SA. Then VC, IV, VCS, THEN V, III, LC Stories, then 2, then 1.
