Difficulty setting in GTA, yes or no?

One of my favorite things about the GTA franchise is that it doesn't have a difficulty level. Missions just get harder as the game goes on usually because there are more guys to kill and they have better weapons. I'm also glad they got rid of "boss" characters with tons of health. I remember trying to kill Big Smoke in San Andreas...I guess everyone's lunch aint the only thing he can eat. The guy took a crazy amount of shots under the excuse that he was wearing body armor, but that is no more in the HD era. Boss characters are simply harder to get to or you have to jump through hoops to get them but once you do they fall like everyone else and I love that. This really drives home the immersion and realism.

I wouldn't have an issue with this. Although missions typically get harder some difficulty settings wouldn't hurt. Maybe a "casual" setting more like the old GTA games and a "hardcore" one where you don't get as much ammo, health etc.

I don't like the sound of it.

"This shootout is too hard I'll put the difficulty on beginner".

No. I'd prefer to create options myself in making the game harder or challenging by experimenting with different weapons, different time of day that affects the behaviour of the A.I and their alertness ( stealth or going direct, for instance ), different routes, different ways like remove HUD, No regenerating health, and as many interesting choices as possible, while keeping the game consistently challenging throughout to play, rather upping/lowering the difficulty that may not approach the difficulty in a sensible way, and artificially inflate/decrease the difficulty depending on how the game designer decides to actually change the game which may not work to my liking and ways I can freely do myself.

Yes. R*'s games have been getting too easy in the recent years. The first time I played RDR I died less than 10 times the whole story, and most of that was from falling off cliffs. Loved Max Payne 3 because of how difficult it was, had a blast on Hardcore (i think that's what it's called).

GTA has gotten easier since HD era was introduced in my opinion. A difficulty setting would ruin the game more than TBOGT's "mission completion rating" that crossed over to V. I don't want to know how long it took me to complete a mission or how I have to be perfect to get the best rating.

Maybe, good solution would be to have "classic" and "expert mode" that you can chose at the beginning of the game which can't be switched later on, or can be switched, but to some point.

Of course there could be "save slot" for classic and expert mode. So everybody's happy :D

For example: - Expert mode: You can carry less weapons,(pistol, uzi and m4 max)limited ammo

and for "big guns" like RPG you have to have a car (RPG stored in the trunk).

And the list goes on....

I am all for more challenge in GTA.(and in all games in general) I just can't stand sitting ducks :D that would be the reason for setting different difficulty level, more challenge!

It's OK to be the almighty terminator by default, but also I would like to do something to become one not just to turn on my console or PC.
