SouthLand
I can understand this can be a very delicate topic because it can encourage violent activities, but I do not want this thread to talk about that in particular, especially when a lot of objects can harm you but can also SAVE YOUR LIFE. Like I like to tell my mother, I carry things in my car so I never have to use them, kind of like a seat belt, you put your seat belt on waiting for that day you crash that can be today or even never, but once it get’s there, you have a special aid that can save your life. Anyways, In my country it’s illegal to carry a knife/switchblade (unless the blade is 11cm or less), If you get caught having one in your car with a blade above 11cm you get a 300€ fine. And that’s includes a tactical knife, a knife set you just bought from a store and still have the plastic and price on it, or an ax that you use because you work as a gardener. I carry a knife that my dad brought from the army when he had to do the Mandatory military service back in the 70’s similar to the one in the picture. I have used it hundreds of times, from using it to make myself a sandwich in a gas station parking to using it to take my cap on my rims so I could fit the tools and change a punctured tire. I would never use it as protection, the reason I carry it is because if one day I have an accident and I roll over, I want to have a knife close to me so I can cut the seat belt and get out of the car if I am not injured. What I do carry for protection Is a Huge wrench we used to have at my old work place to tie together machines on open top containers on trucks. I am 1.88m told so you can see the wrench is quite big. I don’t want to use it ever, but still if some lunatic wants to try to hit me or something at least I want to protect myself. This is not considered a weapon by Spanish Authorities and you can LEGALLY carry one in your car. Here is a picture: I have been involved in some car crashes in the past in usually most people are respectful but not everybody is in a peaceful mood and some try to hit you back at least here in Spain it’s like this, not as hardcore as in Russian Videos but you better watch out. All my friends carry something in their car for protection, some carry legal tools other some illegal stuff that can get you arrested. Do you carry things for protection Safety in your car? 79'Blazer4x4
I always carry a Buck knife in my center console of my truck. I could use it for self defense I guess but I mainly use it as a tool and have had plenty of occasions where it came in handy. As far as I know there is no law against knives in the vehicle here. I also keep a rather large machete in my vehicle for more industrial needs, still not intended as a self defense thing but could be used as such. I really doubt a cop would approve of it if they spotted it in my vehicle. Even in a situation where I was attacked by someone with a weapon I believe I'd be much more likely to protect myself by driving away or using my vehicle as a self defense weapon if possible as being in a moving vehicle is like having a big shield around you. You're much more protected in the vehicle than you ever could be if you got out to brandish a weapon against your assailant. Of course the assailant can always gain access to the vehicle by force if it can no longer move, in which case having a weapon(or tool that can be used as a weapon, such as a wrench) is definitely a good backup plan. As for actual laws prohibiting things, I don't think there's much point in them since makeshift weapons can be used in place of actual weapons and can sometimes be more effective. You wrench, for example would be able to crack a guy with a knife across the head before he could even get his knife close enough to hurt you. don ovdi' island
brass knucks, tire iron and a M-11.. I used to have a small 6-inch combat knife but lost it. between all that stuff, i'm not all that worried about some punk thug trying to take my car. (carjackings very common where i reside. they dont care if the car is nice, ugly, new or old. They use these cars to commit other crimes so it can't be traced back to them and then burn them out. often times they target you somewhere when they know you're going to get out.. such as at a gas station or in front of a store. more often then not, they carjack women, who's kids are still in the car, but there is no set target. they expect you to hand over the keys and get out, or they'll kill you. Similarly, abductions are common for walking on the street alone, or waiting at a bus stop. )
