Did anyone else not like the way guns looked in GTA5?

Like all the weapons in GTA4 looked just like the weapons in real life where as the weapons in GTA5 looked like they were a mix of two guns put in to one. Was it to avoid copy right issues with real weapon manufactures? Because I also noticed even Saints Row stopped modeling their guns to look exactly like the real versions of the weapons.

And did anyone else find it dumb Rockstar decided to go with this design for the assault rifle

http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140823201059/gtawiki/images/8/8c/AK1.png

Instead of this?

Doesn't it make more sense for gangs in the US to be running around with the Russian wooden stock version instead of an upgraded Chinese version? I don't know, just some of the weapons did not fit in very well. I thought LAPD cops use an M9 for a pistol. Rockstar at least have the cops in GTA4 use Glock 22's just like how the real New York police use them and I thought that was cool but I just feel that all the weapons in GTA4 fit in better.

I gotta agree on that one and i rarely do around these forums (most could confirm! LOL). I really would pick second version of Assault Rifle over first one! I have no idea why they screwed weapon models over so badly! Each weapon now look like carbon copy of one another now, with all those "black color" thing...how original...Minigun also looks much better, when its silver and chromed, rather than stupid green+silver color mix!...And i'm sure we aren't the only ones op! Only melee weapons look somewhat distinctive from one another! But yet again, who the hell asked for broken bottle? LOL or antique dagger, err?...wtf??! LOL

I think there being more than 12 makes up for how they look.

It would if they at least performed differently! But they all sound, shoot and look alike, so no...quantity doesn't really make up for the quality loss in this particular case!...

They're no different in IV lol

At least weapons looked different...And in GTAIV overall guns had much better firing sound!...Much more realistic!

It's not a realistic game. They sound a bit sh*t but they don't look exactly the same, try them in 1st person. And quantity does help, IV's selection of weapons was awful.

Ah, I like how the 50. Cal looks in third person. I will strut around with it equipped just to look cool.

Dunno, I quite liked the way the weapons looked, look at the amount of detail in them even on LG that look better than some NG games.

I will agree that the sounds could have been made a bit better

Not stupid seeing that the first gun itself is based off a Chinese copy without the wooden grip. plus, even if weapons were made to kill manufacturers don't like seeing their guns in games, hell two of the weapons in IV are actually based off airsoft variants.

Which guns were based off airsoft variants?

I like that V has a much larger quantity of guns than IV but the gun sound issue in V is most likely due to lazy programming, same for the awful robocop police ai.

No but I do think they sound like absolute sh*t. They sounded better in IV of all games.

Just going along with the Tacticool sh*t that most modern games are doing now. Pretty annoying. The sounds are also pretty crappy.

That's kinda funny, I didn't know that.

Fun fact, in Bad Company 2 when you reload the M249 you can see the hop-up adjustment as it too is based off an airsoft version. .

I'm just glad guns sound so much better than IV. I actually played IV just the other day for the first time in over a year and was shocked at how bad guns sound. Sounded just like a static tin-y noise more than anything.

I don't really care what the gun looks like, if I think it's ugly I just buy a tint.

I love it, when people like you immediately jump your bandwagon and assume, when something mentioned being good in GTAIV as opposed to GTAV, they quickly assume they are GTAIV fanboys (disregarding the fact they still may be the ones, who doesn't like GTAIV, but just think that there are still some particular things, that IV done better than V...)! LOL Also nobody said that overall guns in GTAIV sound realistic, i said MUCH realistic, which means that i'm comparing it to GTAV ones, which you can't argue has much worse firing sounds! (so to make it easier for you to grasp! What i mean to say is - Both GTAIV and GTAV firing sounds aren't too great, but in IV they sound better and that was my point!) Oh and yeah...wth is toy guys? OMG

Official General

I totally agree OP.

I don't think the design and look of the guns in GTA V were all that good myself. For the a start, the black-colored guns are not even black at all, they are either charcoal grey or some weird dark green color. The standard 9mm pistol in V looked like it didn't know whether it was a Berreta or Colt M1911. The Uzi looked like a plastic multi-colored toy gun. I liked the Combat Pistol tho.

In the GTA IV, the guns looked and sounded much more realistic, without question. The Glocks looked very real as did the Uzi, Aks and shotguns.

Same here! I shall admit as much of an opponent of GTAIV as i am (i don't really like hater word, since its overused here too much, besides i'm not really hating on it, just not liking!...) i still think there are some things, that GTAIV got absolutely right in comparison to GTAV and weapon designs is clearly one of those things! But still GTAV catters more to my likening overall, than GTAIV...but each to his own i guess...

Honestly GTA players are so picky they care about the sound of the guns like seriously? I would understand if they were actually horrible sounding but seriously?

I think the Assault Rifles look brilliant, but the noise of most of the guns are lacking in my opinion. I don't like the noises of most of the handguns and I especially don't like the look of the heavy pistol. That aim bit or whatever the hell it is at the top just loses attraction for me

Are you high? 4s guns looked like crap and sounded like crap. Both the rifles in 4 sounded exactly the same, the first pistol you got sounded like a cross between a paintball and a little kid gun. Personally I have never really understood why they didn't just go to a gun range and shoot the guns to know what they sound like. Copy right issues come from the name of things. It's why they call it the FIB and not the FBI and so on.

No they don't. The AK is more "thunderous" than the Carbine, but then again what are they supposed to sound like?

An AK and an M4?

The two sorta sound the same to me too. Rather, the M4 just fires faster than the AK.
