fawks20000
Clearly, SSDs are super expensive per GB compared to HDDs. I've got a simple 128GB for Windows 8 and my programs files and everything else is on a 2TB drive. I'm starting to seriously consider getting a second SSD specifically for GTA V. I keep hearing about pop-in reduction and all that good stuff but even on consoles there's a huge difference in load times. Anyone else thinking about doing this? jeter2
I might grow up the confidence and do this (To scared to touch computer parts, ) But seeing in other games (Battlefield 4 for example, takes forever to load on a HDD) I would definitely do this Load times are definitely worth it and soon enough HDD's will phase out
Gomes_andres
It would've been more interesting against a 7200 rpm hdd, that 5400 rpm is usually found in laptops, not gaming computers.

fawks20000
Sell ur 128GB SSD and buy a 512GB one. Not that expensive anymore I could spend that $250 on a console or something reasonable. Or better yet, I'd be well on my way to buying a second GTX 970. Arya35
Coolstream
I've cleaned out my SSD and are moving some other games closer to release. PS3 loading screens gave me Stage 3 Brain cancer.
Inspirer
For about six months, my system has only one SSD and nothing more. Its capacity 240gb (220 actually, 200 with installed windows 8.1). I don't keep a collection of movies or something like that, so it's enough for all that I need. Yes, before I had a 1TB hard drive, and I didn't think about free space at all. But most of the time 70% were free, I didn't use them. Then I realized that I can be just a little more serious about what I shall keep on the disk and then small SSD will be enough for me. Now I have a PC that turns on for 5 seconds, that doesn't make noise when reading data, and which instantly responds to all my actions. And all this for $ 180. Even in Russia it's not serious money. Well on SSD I have this: Skyrim - 20GB (Play on mood) Diablo 3 - 19GB (Same) Star Wars The Old Republic - 27GB (Don't play, but don't delete, because there is no need to taking more free disk space) Some work files - 17GB Software and other trash - 5GB That's all ~ 90GB + Windows 20GB = 110 used, 90 free. That's enough to install GTA 5 and still remain 25GB. Will not be enough for something big? Then I delete SWTOR which I don't play, and look, free more than 50GB. The entire period of use of SSD I totally did not spare him, so he already has a very high "mileage", but it works perfectly. So I can suggest to you only one thing - sell your small SSD and HDD and buy one bigger, 240/256 or 480/512 GB. Uncle Sikee Atric
I'm looking at an SSD for myself, but it'll be into the summer months. Keep my 1TB for storage and gonna put Win7, Day Z and GTA V on the SSD, that'll be about it.

Guest
I bought a 256GB SSD and it's a massive change, like night and day. I had BF4 installed and the loading times were cut by half compared to my 1TB 7200RPM HDD. I already formatted it to get it ready for when GTA V arrives, moved BF4 out to free some space and after Windows and some programs I've got about 197GB left, will be 132 when GTA V is installed. So my advice is to get one of bigger capacity, you will not regret it.
EvilFiend
Notr sure why you think they are like 250+ Heres the SSD i have in my rig and its more than enough for a few of my most played loading intensive games like BF4 etchttp://www.amazon.com/Samsung-250GB-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-7TE250BW/dp/B00E3W1726 Only $135. Also if you have a 128 SSD then why not move all your files over to your HDD and make it dedicated fort GTAV and maybe 1 or 2 other games
Marc79
I bought a Crucial M550 512GB on sale for $169.99 (33 cents per GB) just for GTA V and a few more "big" games like Unity, Far Cry 4 and upcoming titles. I want to try playing Max Payne 3 and BF4 on an SSD, and see if load times are indeed faster than HDD.
Yogensia
My advice is don't buy it until after you have tested the game on your PC. Then decide.
southparkmayor
IMO you should get the Hybrid SSD/HDD. Almost the same performance but a fraction of the cost.

I wouldn't say almost the same performance. Comparing an SSD to a SSHD is like comparing the cars in F1 and Rally X. Sure the Rally X cars are fast but the F1 cars are a lot faster. DaRkL3AD3R
That is why this game is going on my 256GB Samsung SSD as soon as I install it. Those load times and character switches are retarded and likely will only get better on pc. If you guys recall, GTA IV loaf significantly faster on PC even with a hard drive. I imagine it comes down to SATA 3 vs 2 and faster processors allowing higher IOPS.

Kampret
IMO you should get the Hybrid SSD/HDD. Almost the same performance but a fraction of the cost. Negligible difference between SSHD and 7200 rpm HDD during writes, unless you're about to use a Dual drive (SSD+HDD). IV do load fast on PC, but mainly from 7200 rpm vs 5400 rpm HDD. Took me 20 seconds to load on my PC with 7200 rpm disk, while 35 seconds on my PS3 with 5400 rpm. I've played IV on my friend's notebook with 5400 rpm HDD, and the loading time is horrendous, almost 1 minute. Surely the difference isn't only disk rpm. So yeah, like NTA said, consoles probably used cache files, while PC don't. I'd imagine if PC used the same cache...
Xerukal
Wonder if the character switching on an SSD will be anywhere near as fast as in the original gameplay trailer from 2013. That's really the only reason I'd install it on one.
